No, Stephen already made the rounds of the 'Dragon' room, and detected no traps (unless you or I missed something). So now he wants to check the new room for traps. And his Talisman of Zagy warms up within 20 feet of a trap.

You're right. Assuming he stays a foot away from the outer walls, and the talisman is suspended 4 1/2 feet off the ground, he detects any traps up to 18'-9" in the center of the dragon room.
