While Idrys is practising with Azoria, Karlane tries further with Lucien, "What do you know of the necromancer Kane? And his likely whereabouts? Also, what can you tell me of Dezloz? And two more, 'The Architect' and 'The Engineer'?"
After any replies, she settles down to pray for some more spells, 2. Augury, Find Traps, Silence 15'r and to then study to memorize 1.Comprehend Languages.

Lucien: Nothing, my child, my interest in mortals is less than it was in life. I was only interested in the ones who were targeted for death by Sithus.
Azonia: Dezloz is the usurper of the black kingdoms to the south, what most people call the black imperium now. He is greatly feared, you would be wise to stay clear from him and these black cloaks who serve him'
black guardsman: "not all of us blindly follow him, Elsmyrian. There were no elections, he usurped the throne. The rightful ruler is locked away deep beneath the city of Mezron." (pauses to drink water) "Kane, he is a tall fellow, with blonde hair and unusually fare in appearance. He is a warlock-priest of Infernus, serves the powers of Hell. He turns men into shades, a horrific process usually reserved for enemies of the empire. A very vain man, that one. They call him Kane the beautiful. He has a female drow bodyguard who is also his lover, she fights like your brother with two blades, and once I saw her sprout two more hands in order to dispatch enemies who thought themselves her superior. Something you might wish to keep in mind, dhampir' he said the later to Idrys.
Erodan: 'The architect and the engineer are shrouded in deep mystery, it is that mystery that has kept them preserved. You will not learn anything about them simply inquiring of any of us, and only a Lorian cleric could hope to pierce that mystery'
Karlene deciphers the engravings, studying them carefully:
This sacred chamber is only for the beloved of Lor, and any other will be barred from entry as there is a forbiddance placed within this chamber of secrets.
If you make a sacrifice, and ask a question it may be answered herein. Acceptable forms of sacrifice are gold, gems, magic items, or books.
Take note of the engravings, they will shift to form the answers to your questions. However, you are only allowed one per day.
Karlene prays, filling herself with Lor's divine power and regains her spells.

Karlane offers up a silent prayer to Lor thanking her for the powers granted, the secrets recently revealed and prospect of mysteries yet to be encountered, ending with a re-dedication of her purpose and soul (or essence) to serve Lor according to Her Will. She added as a guilty afterthought, ~But please, By Your Will, may I never be set against my brother, Idrys.~
The half-vampire leaves the sacred chamber and looks to see how Idrys's sword practise is progressing. She then looks through the dusty books near the fire place to see is any seeming particularly informative or relevant. After selecting one, Karlane returns to the sacred chamber and says, "This book represents the word and the word captures the thought and the thought hides or reveals the secrets according to Your Will. May you accept this book as a token of my service to you and may Your Will be to reveal to me the future date on which I should seek the Farseer Hedge to best serve you in protecting and sheltering the seven orphans." She then scrutinizes the engravings for an answer.
After finishing in the sacred chamber, Karlane emerges to share with Idrys (and him alone) what she discovered in the documents. {OOC: Last post on p27, dated Thrus 6 Dec @ 3.31 am}.
She asks her brother quietly, "Does this give you sufficiently more that you can further stir up the relationship between Delzoz & Lomag? With help from Erodan, I mean."

When Karlene said this aloud, she saw herself in a pit fighting against Idrys in hand to hand combat. He was coming at you with his whirring blades weaving deadly patterns against you. There was laughter in the background, and a ring of spears formed a barrier around you both. You outstretch a palm releasing a tongue of scorching flames at Idrys...the vision faded.
Karlene slid the book and slowly flame consumed it. THen, the engraved script on the wall swirled to form the following:
Leave this place of death and take the northwest road tomorrow, there I will test your faith. You will be assailed by enemies, yet I have given you power to overcome. Such things must pass in order to prepare you before meeting your tutor (Hedge). Spend two days and do exactly as he commands.

Turns men I to shades? I saw a halfling summon a shade-like creature just before the attack on the swamp village...

Erodan says to Idrys 'If he speaks to shades as you describe, I'd wager he's no good. You seem to fight exceedingly well, I've never seen such potential in a man before. Must be your dark heritage"
Azonia: "Aye, but keep those sentiments to yourself old man, the worst poison for a true warrior is thinking highly of himself. Get it in your head, Idrys, you have far to go. Fight different opponents often and you will become more seasoned. When I was ten winters I could fell an orc with a javelin, and when I was fifteen I could kill ten from horseback and a shortbow. Remember, your greatest advesary is yourself, there is no opponent" she paused, then added 'the true test is defeating an enemy without fighting, and more credit unto you for facing foes greater than your own self."

Idrys nods at the Elsmyrian's words, With that same mindset I have been trained all my life by the man who raised me. I will heed your words well. Turning back to the guard, Do you think Kane was involved with the shadow summoned then?

The black guard scratches at his nether regions and yawns, then said 'not sure, maybe. I'm not exactly up on the food chain within the empire. Hell, we were going to defect after we killed that miserable dwarf. That Kane is a real evil piece of orc shit, needless to say. You would do the world a service to destroy him, if you could. He is as cunning and ruthless as he is rich in magic'

At a convenient pause in the conversation, Karlene says, "Idrys, do you want any of these three things?" She points at the two items of armour and the sword.
{OOC Recap for Tristen - Elven chainmail; +1 scale mail [Prot Evil for clerics only]; +1 Glasssteel sword [succundus spy blade, foes have -4 penalty to parry it, speed factor 1. Made to pierce shields, armor & physical barriers]}
{OOC: @ Spike - 1st level clerics can cast is armour, so the +1 scale's benefit is the Prot Evil, which is pretty cool, and the fact its magical. Are you going with the 1d Ed DMG line that magical armour encumbers as normal clothing?}

Smiling at Idrys's ambivalence, Karlane selects the scale mail and tries it on, "If you're sure. Ok, why dont you take the glass sword for now. When I get better at handling blades, or if we get a better short blade for you, then maybe I can have the glass sword. Oh and I think you expressed an interest in the elven-steel dagger with extras." She passes him the diamond edged dagger with the built-in garrotte.
She says to Azonia, "This might fit you.. Want to try it on?" as she indicates he elven chainmail. Another request, this time to the black company man, "What was your name again? I so forget names. Nothing personal; that's pretty much all names. Please show me your forearms. And tell me again, with more detail, about how to get to and approach your employer, the dwarf."
A short while later, Kalrane catches her brother's attention and shares (with him alone) what she discovered in the documents. {OOC: Last post on p27, dated Thrus 6 Dec @ 3.31 am}.
She asks Idrys quietly, "Does this give you sufficiently more that you can further stir up the relationship between Delzoz & Lomag? With help from Erodan, I mean."
She says to all, "Tomorrow we hit the road. Enjoy what rest and quiet you can here. It may be a while before we see such again."
Finally, Karlane turns to Lucien, "I want you to start showing me the kill technique. Starting now. Idrys? Interested?"

Azonia took the armor appreciatively, 'a mighty gift, I shall wear it with pride'
black guardsman: "Sarancen" he shows you his forearms which bore various tattoos of the black guard. "Of the twelfth legion" he looked envious of the elfin armor and whistled, 'the armor is glad to be fitted to such a feline physique, pity I wasn't more lean like an elf such armor is kingly and rarer still'
Karlene could not glean anything further within the halls of the vacated assassins guild headquarters, at least not in this room.
While busy conducting business, two men saunter into the room from a secret door you hadn't seen before, which slid and disappeared into the wall mechanically. Both wore demonic looking masks and carried tridents, were without armor and their bare chests were revealed underneath a colorful uniform of red and black.
The first one approached, said in a muffled voice wagging his finger in Karlene's face: "you dumb bitch, what in the nine hells do you think you're doing here? Nevermind, it does not matter.. You won't be alive for very long to tell anybody about it!' he comes at her with his trident poised and ready to impale her.
The second masked man prepares to throw his trident at Idrys.

With a wordless roar like that of a supernatural, feral beast; Idrys ignores the one threatening him (as much as he can an armed opponent), and lunges at the one threatening Karlene. His invisible longsword and glassteel in either hand.
[Ooc: he will happily turn his back on the second to attack the one threatening his sister, but not if both things can be accomplished. If the glassteel isn't near enough for his offhand he will use whatever weapon is.]

ROUND 1:
Karlene outstretched a palm issuing the command and she was speaking in a chanting throaty language of power, and the masked trident wielding man slumped over asleep.
Idrys came and thrust his blade into the now sleeping man ending his life.
The second masked man flung his trident at Karlene, it tore through her armor leaving bloody pierce marks in her flesh (-6 hp piercing damage inflicted).
Azonia throws one of her curved swords, the blade splices open the masked killer's neck and a fount of his lifeblood comes pouring out. He fell flat to the floor, dead before his head hit the ground.
Lucien: "curse you Elsmyrian, I would have enjoyed tormenting that one' he said lamenting the swift death.
