"I knew this felt.. Wrong.." Mira muses, this was a jail, designed to keep better than her by the looks of the fallen creature. Shaking her head she moves to Bakki's body closing his eyes and unbuckling his sword, strapping it to her own belt.

"I will return it, I promise." She explains to Devon as she moves to the destroyed cell, nearly gagging she coughs loudly.. (its a cell in a horrible dirty place, I hope the reaction is justified). "Devon. Have you ever been down here? I am assuming so."

cross during the others interchange had crouched focused on an examination of the body looking for any more clues to the transformation once Mira calls him he will stand and look around"never been good at finding traps or door but ill give it a try as he walks by her he will talk softly "thank you for the song id be no better than our friend her without it"

Starting by the cell door closest to the portcullis, Artanis will commence using the keys to open each cell door and look around in each one, checking all of the walls, ceiling, floors for concealed passages. "Well mighty King Ratslayer as well as the Slayer of Fair Maidens' hearts, how about standing behind me as I try these cell doors. In case there are more than rats to slay."

Mira moves to Bakki and closes the young guard's eyes for the last time... she then takes up his weapon, an old short sword that seems like it has had a hard life. It is a good bit heavier than more modern weapons, but balanceed well so it is no hindrance. Devon shrugs regarding the sword as if it were the most inconsequential thing in the world. Surem I've been down here dozens of times. Usually just detaining revelers who get out of control for a day or so...

The bard approaches the last cell. The door on has been torn open by some great force. Several of its bars are bent and twisted, as if someone had taken a great hammer to them, and it dangles upon only one of its three hinges. Many deep, parallel gouges are carved into the wooden furniture, making it look as if someone had slashed it repeatedly with a very sharp knife. The overwhelming odor of corruption fills the air here. For a second, she is overcome by it, her body spasming as if she were out to be ill. Mira quickly recovers from The only items of interest in the dark chamber are a lop-sided stool and a tattered and abused straw mat. The hard stone floor of the room is covered with packed dirt, grime, and decaying waste. The floor and walls are stained with a combination of blood, rotting food, and unidentifiable filth. The walls of the room are made of the same dark hardwood as the other interior walls. Many deep gouges and gashes mar them, but they still look very sturdy. A sound of scampering feet can be heard as numerous rodents scatter for cover upon the intrusion, but she never seems to be able to get a good look at the shadowy figures.

Artanis uses the keys to open the cell closest to the exit that he can access, and is greeted by a near identical setup. Yasir follows the Ranger, making some quiet joke about babysitting the half-elf. Cross joins Mira, at the other cell. There is a small window set high in the far wall that leads outside where it has since grown dark. Several iron bars block the opening, which would be much to small for any but perhaps Pyros or Cal; even if all the bars were removed.

"So the cells are secure." Mira explains almost to herself, "They aren't a way out."

"Yasir, you and Art are the strongest here, fancy a try lifting the portcullis, there must be mechanism that opens them, I thought trip pads but I couldn't see anything..." Her mind working now she tries to recall a few things..

"Call me paranoid and I might be, did the same thing happen not so long ago? A prisoner escape? Someone I know of went missing. And.." She looks straight at Devon, no talk like that would scare the life out of him. "Did you ever need to... Talk to a prisoner, the ones that wouldnt confess? If so where did you take them?"

(She is thinking that perhaps they had another room, one that would be secure but... Perhaps has an emergency way out, ie the location of this fabled secret passage)

Right now she thinks they were drawn here and led to the slaughter (she was suspicious from the outset).. Perhaps the last singer was led here too?? She hasn't exactly been discreet!!! Its for the 'Greater good'

While looking at the walls for a door, Pyros will also try to see if he can slip between the bars of the Portcullis.

No one has ever escaped that I know of... I guess Jac didn't really escape either... I'm not at liberty to discuss details of the jail's layout, but there is a room for questioning.

Yasir flexes his arms and begins to lift on the portcullis nearby. He turns his back to it and squats down, grabbing the bars from behind. He strains and struggles against it for a full minute, a low cry of effort escaping clenched teeth. Panting he stops. There's some kind of bar or lock holding it in place in the floor or ceiling. This one can't be lifted. Give me a minute and I might be able to bend some bars.

Hey! You can't just go around destroying the jail! Devon says angrily.

Pyros examines the tightly spaced grid. It looks like he might be able to squeeze through if one set of bars was bent. It would take three successful bends for the humans and elves to get out, though...

Artanis starts with the next cell to the northwest. The cell is much the same as the others, though this one has a window like Jac's and unlike the one he just searched.

"Well it seems that if you don't want your fancy gate bent, it shouldn't be in the way!" Pyros will comment.

Pyros will look to see if he can find the mechanism that is holding the gate.

"Devon. I'm not going to sugar coat this, there isn't time. We are trapped. Kahrus appears to have left you here.. Bravo aside Jac was no easy Customer." She keeps her voice calm despite the feeling in her gut that she'd failed.

"Work with us and we all get out. Be unhelpful and we remain stuck." Giving Yasir a nod she smiles. "So its a case of tell us what you know, or we stay stuck."

Devon gets a hard look on his face. Did you see his arm? he says, nodding to Yasir. Why do you think Kahrus locked us in here? Hmm? You saw what Jac did. He's not a strong man. What do you think your muscle-bound friend there will turn into if he gets infected... Who's going to stop him?

You really think you can keep me here, boy? Yasir says quietly, a dangerous tone in his voice. You gonna stop me with your little pig-sticker there? Devon glares at the warrior, but doesn't back down. And when you turn into one of those things and tear her head off, what's that going to do to your bravado? Yasir takes a step forward, knuckles white on his sword hilt, but it's obvious the young man's words are getting through a little. Devon nods in understanding, You didn't even flinch... I bet you've fought things like this before... I bet you've even seen a friend turn... Shut up you little...! Yasir's tan face is livid, muscles corded around his neck and he seems about to strike at the younger man any moment.

"Woah woah woah, let's all take it down a notch fellas. Going for each other's throats won't get us out of here. Yasir come see if you can get me on the other side of this gate. He will pull on Yasir's arm.

"We have some tricks up our sleeves, Elsa here or maybe Rautant can make sure our muscle bound friend does not get infected."

"Stop!!!" Mira shouts, her voice projected by magic using an old trick, her words slamming into them both like a wave. "So we are locked in to make sure none of us become... That." She points to Jac. "Yasir, hold I know.. We'll discuss it later." That comment has a hard edge to it.

"These things, this curse, if that's what it is.. It doesn't exist where I'm from. How long would it take to appear?" She asks her words shaky.
