@ Headshot: if you're interested, look at the entry in the "DM's seeking players" forum.

Not to toot my own horn, but
Dragonsfoot has just published a new D&D module which includes some of my original artwork.
The module is called
The Tower of Azal'Lan, and is available for free download
here.
I've got four pieces in it, all of which appear in the second half of the module: a dwarf climbing through a trap door, an erinyes in a summoning circle, a mage examining burn marks on a wall, and an elf and dwarf preparing to ambush an ogre.
Check it out, if you are interested.

Yeah, I didn't realize when I signed on that it was a First Edition module. Interesting that people are still playing First Edition.

I am glad it is, and all editions are still being played since they keep revamping it. I had heard it was still being played by some just hadn't actually seen anything.

Rough day.
My car's been acting up a bit the past two weeks. There's been a bit of a shimmy in the front end. I know I need a wheel alignment, but I thought I might have thrown a weight on my front tire, putting it out of balance.
So, I was out at a meeting today, walking back to my truck and, because I had left the the wheels turned to the right, I happened to see the inside edge of the tread on my front right tire, which is usually hidden by the fender. And I could see the steel belt showing through the tread. The tire was feeling unbalanced because it had worn unevenly, and so badly that the belt was exposed.
So I very gingerly drove it back to my office, then back home (it was about 90 degrees today. I wasn't about to change a tire in a shirt and tie unless it was unavoidable). I got home, took the bad tire off, put the spare on, and stuck the bad tire in the cargo area in back (rather than hanging under the truck, because I have to drop the wheel off and get a new tire put on it in the morning).
Once I finished that, I went out to pick up a pizza, and saw my upstairs neighbor in the driveway. He's an auto mechanic. I told him about my tire, and he confirmed that I must be badly in need of a wheel alignment, a common problem in SUVs. And it might be expensive to fix, because it's four wheel drive. Oh, and by the way, he had noticed just from hearing the car start up in the morning that my power steering pump is failing, and will need to be replaced.
Lovely.
I stopped for milk on the way to the pizzeria, and when I was making a right turn onto the street, the tire in the back shifted...and ended sitting up on top of the chemical fire extinguisher I keep in the truck for emergencies, setting it off. It only sprayed for a second or two, but now the carpet and all the stuff I had back here is covered with white powder.
I realize that this is all minor stuff compared to people with actual problems, but that doesn't make it any more fun.

These annoyances set the wheel of worries spinning...
Somehow, it also feels to me that just like our immune system wants its level of activities and may develop allergies if they're not enough germs around, our minds want a certain level of concerns and worries and if there are no major concerns (about survival, family, health, money) small ones tend to get blown up out of proportion.

Vacuumed most of it up at the gas station this morning, then cleaned up the rest with wet rags tonight.
Took the car into the shop to get the new tire this morning. Needed two tires, a wheel alignment (knew that was coming) and caught a break on the price. Also got new brake pads out the back. Cha-ching, $410.
And I found out that in addition to the power steering pump going bad, I need front shocks and maybe some suspension work. More cha-ching.
I have to remind myself that it's just money, and other people have real problems. I have a vehicle and a place to live. All is good in the world.

Ugh. I hate when problems keep piling up like that. Yeah, it's only takes money to fix it, but it's not just ONE thing, it's several at a time and that's when it gets irritating!
Speaking about the game, though, I don't want anyone to think that Stik is making me play out the concussion in character. Bastian took almost 50% of his HP in damage directly to his skull, so his melon is a little fragile at the moment! If anyone is wondering, I'm having him act a lot like my brother did a few years ago when he had a severe concussion. He wasn't himself for MONTHS! In fact, he still doesn't remember the day of the accident, and really he forgot most of what happened that same week. (No, it wasn't anything horrific. It was an injury in High School gym class!

)

I managed to get my self slightly concussed a few years back, on the battlefield at Pennsic. I guess I was doing a bit too well, because three spearmen concentrated on me. Blocked one with my shield, parried the second with my sword. Third one hit me right on the button (my helm has a strap across the front of my chin, right under my lip. The shot hit the bar grill right in front of that. Force went right to my chin and blammo!
I saw a white flash and went over backwards. The guy behind me caught me and lowered me to the ground. When my vision came back I was seeing shapes floating around my head, like in the cartoons, but except they were just colored blobs, not stars. Fun times.

Okay, I'm back from the War. I'm a bit sunburned and foot-sore, but in four days of battles I managed not to get hurt - not even any major bruises - which is a feat by itself.
Roll call - is everybody here?
