Return [To Madness]: Act 1, Scene 2

A classic 2e Puzzle dungeon for High Level characters
Beware, this one is substantially longer and (IMHO) even harder than the legendary Tomb of Horrors!

Jack freezes in place, magically held.

====
Jack can still use his mental link to Stephen, but cannot move. Most of the party are experienced enough to know that undead are immune to Hold magic, and the magic users know it would take a spell specific to undead (like 'Hold Undead', lol) to stop someone like Alrius.

I'm convinced Jack failed his save because you misspelled his name in the roll ;)

Ke'Sha, would you consider having one of your zombies retrieve poor Jack and bring him through the room over to this side? It's possible the paralysis will wear off the moment he's out of the area. Or, we'll need to haul him back to camp this way and have someone remove his paralysis there.

<So do we think we are done here? Is this just an obliette? Or does anyone think there could be more to find here?> Stephen repeats that out loud for Axid's benefit.

"I can likely solve Jack's plight." Jag will crawl across the pit as he watched Jack do, then slide Jack back a bit so his finger leaves the area, then will cast Remove Paralysis if it doesn't wear off when he leaves the area.

[Climb check from Jag please]

As Jag begins his attempt to crawl across the pit, Jack vanishes again!

[C6]
Jack finds himself teleported back to the thornslinger room in front of the Southern Bas relief, still held.

Jack tells me he's now back in the 'Thornslinger' room,” Stephan says to reassure those in the 'magic floor' chamber. “Still can't move, though.

"So that's the trap. You are paralyzed, then becoming an easy target for the thornslingers. That's why your stone warns you. Lucky for Jack that we chopped these vegetables to tiny pieces."
After this little riddle pushed away Ke'Sha considers Stephen question, "There might be something important in the corridor, unless the whole thing is a teleporter." He then asks Gur to peek to the corridor from the backwall, without entering the paralysis zone, and tries to figure sharing the magic detection sight, if there are different types of magic areas, one responsible for the teleportation and another for the paralysis. If so he will guide Alrius movement around the teleporter and command it to search the floor and trap for hidden doors, levels, sliding or pushable bricks.

"I just got a tingle the first time, and then after using the portal to the other side, it zapped me here. So you probably don't need ot be in the area any longer for the teleport to work."

Jag starts to tread "water" to stay out of the ooze.
He will look for ways to climb out.

Ke'Sha, might you implore one of your minions to help Master Jagrinder out of the pit?

Allikhain shakes her head a little at the antics of the half-orc. Perhaps I can be of some assistance. She says. Quietly whispering a sibilant spell she weaves the strands mystic energies, she draws a small spider and bit of bitumen encapsulated in a small gel packet before swallowing the pellet. Slipping off her shoes and tucking them into a pouch, she begins to climb the wall beside the pit like a veritable spider. Making her way to the opposite edge and down to the depth of the desperate ally, she lends a slender but powerful hand. I doubt I can pull you out completely, but perhaps I can give you a leg-up. she muses with a smirk. Besides, I am curious if crawling across the ceiling of this magical room will make any difference. she confides.

====
I think since he is unskilled technically he wasn't really able to attempt the wall without gear or some accommodation like an anchored rope. with Allikhain's help, we can give him a chance.
40% (unskilled climber) + 30 with assistance, no armor penalty: 70% chance

Was Gur supposed to go through the portal to the opposite side of the corridor? Maybe I missed that. Either way is fine, but from the North corridor there is no way to see the West end of the South corridor, so the wording had me confused.

Ke'Sha looks curiously at Allekhain actions. It didn't even occur to him that Jag may need help. 'I guess I still have to work a bit on my social skills.' he thinks to himself, immediately being assualted mentally by Gur. 'A BIT??? Ha! You are an old toad who can't distinguish between an angel and a devil. All you see is their bones and flesh thinking how to abuse it. Mind me, I like this line of thought, but A BIT social skill is WAY underestimation on your part. Pff...' Ke'Sha, caught unprepared retaliates clumsilly aloud "If you want to keep your wings, shut up! Or I'll practice my full social skills arresnal on you!' then he catches himself and looks around flashing his perfect teeth.

(OOC: I keep forgetting how to add drawings to the chat, but what I mean is this:

-----------------------------------------------
| | XXX | |
| | PIT | |
| | XXX | |
-Gur -----------------------------------
| TELEPORT TELEPORT TELEPORT |
| TELEPORT TELEPORT TELEPORT |
| TELEPORT TELEPORT TELEPORT |
-Gur ------------------------------------
| |
| |
| |
|---------------------------------------------

Gur can fly to either of the two spots (not crossing above the teleportation) and look down the corridor and it's floor.
If we can't detect anything I guess we can continue, but maybe we should have a thread for places we need to return later for farther investigation. Like that blue door with the strange marks that I keep forgetting if we discovered something about it or not.)
