"From my understanding, mages are usually the ones that are raising the undead," Echo said. "At least, that was my understanding as I studied necromantic magic. Those are higher level spells though," she explained. "And if someone in this house is that power, we are ill equipped to deal with such a foe."

Vee turns to Brax Echo and Kim. "But we are at least seven... oh no, eight. we can stop one Mage, how strong ever he'll be!"

Vee stops and thinks for a moment."You've said something about the lady in the cellar, maybe she isn't undead because of the armor?" she knocks on her breastplate "You said it is magic, could it save from becoming a undead?
Oh, and by the way, do you have anything to save me from dying of hunger?"

"You underestimate the power of a mage," Echo says to Vee with a shake of her head. "The numbers don't matter. We have spells that effect a whole group of people. Some spells you can't even avoid, such as the one that I use in the cellar. Not only that, but powerful mages will always have magical protection around them which we would have to get through."

"True, but imagine the power you yourself could gain when we defeat such a mage. I'm sure the Council would be quick to recognize an achievement like that. Besides, if an evil mage of such great power was living or operating this close to my home, i would certainly want him dealt with..."

Echo laughs lightly at Gunter as if he just made a semi-amusing joke. "Tempting, but extremely foolish," Echo says. "Of course, a mage might not even be behind this," she offers. "The mage could long be dead, but his enchantments and whatnot live on."

"I believe you have something there Mistress Echo." Brax responds with a thoughtful glance to the group.

Reaching into a pouch she retrieves a small parcel, wrapped in cloth. "Dried rations my dear, not very appetizing, but they will do.." She passes them to Vee with a smile.

"Pelor teaches much to drive back the undead." she responds to Kim with a proud expression. "I will do my best to drive back the undead."

Searos stays quiet letting everyone argue the evils of mages while he eats his rations, not out of hunger, but out of a desire to be popular by doing everything everyone else is doing. He just smiles wanly at the various jokes people are making.

"Well, aren't we so very lucky that we have someone, such as yourself, that can turn these undead abominations," Echo says sarcastically to Brax.

Searos turns to Gundrum after Echo's remark still absently chewing on his food.

"You know... I think i'm starting to warm up to Chills..." He snickers at his own cleverness and then suddenly brightens up.

"You know Master IronicName, if those two go at it, we could probably take bets. I think I'm giving 5:2 odds on Bright Eyes. What do you think?"

At Searos's offer of a bet, an involuntary shudder passes through Kim. Bets, that had been what Kim's brother did all the time, losing them money most of the time, it was a constant fight to make ends meet. Without that, they would have been able to lead a comfortable life... Good that all this was over, all responsibilities gotten rid of. Kim forcefully pulls all thoughts back to the present.

"I think chilly here has more up her sleeve than just ice." Gudrum grins, "The odds would be attractive."

Brax doesn't seem to get the sarcasm what's ever, she smiles deeply glad someone appreciated her. "Thank you." she says the grin getting bigger. "I would like to at least take a look around the rest of the ground floor, alone if I have to." She turns, looking down the corridor, it was still clear.

"I'm with the priest, let's at least not make our selves stationary targets while we're in here."

"I too think we should clear this level by level, to get an idea of what might be behind our backs." Kim agrees.

With a sigh, Amon gets to his feet and follows after the others, Dogmeat at his heels.

"I was just looking." Brax comments standing in the open entrance hall.

(Recap)

A single staircase sits in front of the group, a balcony exists overlooking the hall to the north and west sides. The rails appear rotten but mostly intact.

In front of the group is a hall much like the one they just left.
