Artanis, Pyros and Yasir: The Boar’s Hide
Hah! Armor? Come to rob me blind, haven't you? Then attack me instead of giving an old man aid... he descends into more muttering as Yasir peeks under a pile of discarded clothes using his sheathed sword rather than touching it. A cluster of small bugs scatters and burrows deeper into the pile. Grumbling and griping it becomes more readily apparent that the 'shopkeep' is somewhat inebriated. Pyros and Artanis catch a glimpse of a nasty looking scar on his chest past his loosely laced tunic, and another on his arm. Pyros recognizes them as having been made by a spear... or the point of a hoopak... Eventually he settles down and begins rooting through one of the piles, knocking over several things in the process. Where the nine-hells did I leave that... he checks another and another; finally coming up with a Kender-sized suit of leather armor, although it has a hole on the chest piece and bloodstains on it.

"That looks usable... if it weren't for the hole! if you were to repair that, how much would it be?" he looks at Artanis and says in common: "What a stroke of luck, he speaks Kender, and has Kender sized armour!"

The man seems utterly stunned that the kender mentioned price first. He squints at Pyros like a thing he has never seen nor heard of before. A moment later his impaired mind catches up with the situation and a sleazy grin creeps onto his face. Uuuhhh... two hours.... and... ten gold. he begins scrubbing at the blood on the armor what the corner of a filthy rag as if it would come off so simply. don't worry that stain will come right out.... leather isn't like cloth... the man freezes as if just now hearing his last statement but doesn't contradict it.

In Kender: ""10GP? One moment, I'm not used to this Gold currency." He will not act shocked or surprised at the price.

[OoC: Mira must be getting through to him about fair trade lol. Maybe the bard will come in to "enhance" the negotiations :O]

"He wants 10 GP, that sounds... bit much for used armour. Any ideas my Woodland Friend? I would ask you my musclebound friend, but it does not appear you would have ever worn leather."

Yasir, unable to understand any of the conversation until Pyros turns to him in common, blinks at the price. 10 gold for that?! Hah! We Athkatlamns pride ourselves on making good deals and negotiation, my friend. That is the kind of price that makes me want to spit in hus eye. He shrugs, Some shopkeepers start bargaining with the moon. Offer him one tenth or so. Who else is he going to sell a suit that size to? he finishes with a decidedly devious grin.

Just then Mira's voice calls into the shop as the rest of the group arrives. Elsa puts on a disgusted look and begins unconsciously wiping her hands on her robes. I feel like I'll need a cure spell after just walking into this place.

The old man doesn't understand the conversations, but his greasy grin grows as more people enter. Welcome to Boar's Hide he says in Elven. To Pyros he says in kenderspeak, They have two small-folk as well, you'd best snatch it up before we get ourselves into a bidding war. how about it? His red-rimmed eyes dance with delight as if he were imagining just that.

"Elsa, why dont you wait outside with Cross and Cal? I'll stay with the boys for a moment. For translation." That done she picks up the point of the conversation.

"Forgive my intrusion. I was trying to ensure my friend here wasn't getting cheated. I am less familiar with the language, being but a humble performer." Interjecting in Kenderspeak she makes an exaggerated bow. "Did I translate incorrectly? It actually sounded like you wanted 10gp for that.. I would think 4 more reasonable."

Taking a step back she allows Pyros to say his piece, trying not to touch anything.

Gladly. Elsa says, with a surreptitious shiver as she heads out the door. When she adresses the man he loses his grin and squints at her as if he is having trouble seeing at first. Who are you supposed to be anyway? He eyes her up and down, clearing his throat as his gaze passes over her curves. The sleazy smile returns in force, Why, this piece is a rarity in these parts. Supply and demand you understand. There isn't another like it in Harmonia... In all of Kartakass most likely. Besides, the price includes the cost of repairs... he trails off as he stares openly at her chest until Yasir flexes his powerful hands, causing the knuckles to crack loudly. The warrior folds his arms over his chest, suddenly looking much larger and more menacing somehow. The old man's eyes whip back to the warrior and he clears his throat again, I suppose I could let it go for eight... plus repairs of course. He looks to Pyros for agreement, though his eyes dart occasionally to the Bard's bottom.

"And you know as well as I do the chance of finding another Kender in the whole of Kartakass is almost zero, so who do you plan to sell it to?" Mira offers a false smile and shoots the Kender a quick look.

"Pyros's offer is sound, you get something that is cluttering your workshop gone, you get money you otherwise wouldn't. And you get drinks while you listen to what I am told is a musical sensation..." The exaggeration hurt a little, but it might do the trick.

4 gold! Trying to pick my pocket with words instead, eh? he says to Pyros, in no way amused. His countenance briefly changes at the mention of drinks. The grubby man looks back at Mira when she starts in, Who are you? he asks incredulously Anyway, 4 is much too low, I still have to cover the cost of repairs! He seems progressively agitated, and does not respond favorably to the mention of clutter or the challenge that he has few others to sell the garment to. He patently ignores the bath comment. If you're short, he says, meaning on gold but obviously implying an insult regarding stature, I could let it go for 7 without repairs.

"I guess you dont get out much: Rouge, la Barda Gitane." She announces and takes a step back. "Come on Pyros, he's obviously not interested selling." Mira responds flatly starting to move out of the shop.

Suddenly she stops, her eyes fixing on a detail.

"Pyros isnt from Sithicus you know. He's not one of those... I'm told they are Monsters.. Whatever your loss, and I feel for you. But that wasn't him, I'm sorry if I insulted you. Please come and watch at the Wayfarer, regardless of what Pyros decides." With that she goes silent.
