Re: Act 3 Scene 1: Arrivals and Leavetakings
"The day moves on and we need to go shopping forthe things I've mentioned that will help. Who wants to try and help find the creature's lair?" asks Jerry. "Does anyone here possess a (lawful good) holy symbol?"

Re: Act 3 Scene 1: Arrivals and Leavetakings
The Old Shacks: (Gregor, Pyros, Mira)
Mira fires another trio of Missiles at the creature, striking it with a quick staccato of magical force. Recalling the nature of those that sing she calls out to Gregor and throws her iron sword to his feet. Meanwhile, Pyros draws his new silver dagger and takes a swipe at his assailant, but staggers as his muscles refuse to cooperate well after having been shaken. Gregor snatches the iron sword up and positions himself to stab again. Striking down over the creature's back with all of his might he has too much momentum to stop when the creature flops onto it's side! Expecting the resistance of contact but meeting none, the human rogue topples over to the ground beside the massive beast...
[Gregor is Prone but not stunned. He can stand on his turn at half the cost of his movement]

"Great, give him the only thing that can harm the...." Mira curses, drawing her normal shortsword, preparing to use the blade to defend herself. "Pyros, get away from it. Now!" She warns, taking a deep breath her chest heaving.
She could counter it's affects, could she do more than that with her words?
(is there anything about this creature that reminds her of anyone? It has to be someone who lives in Scald..)

Listening to Mira:
He will move to the max distance where he will still get 2 shots from his Hoopak off.
"Phew. I can't wait to tell Cross about this."

Re: Act 3 Scene 1: Arrivals and Leavetakings
Del sighs.
"Well it is really nice to possess one, but the possessor needs to be a priest to really do anything , doesn't he? I doubt
any person on the street could just go up to a Vampire and just present it ... hey look at this?....."
She raises an eyebrow.
"So you guys just want to go unprepared, to face a Vampire in his or her lair? What do you all know
about Vampires? Know how to kill one? How you can harm one for real? Do not forget that wherever you are form maybe it is different here
for Vampires. I'm just rambling but it seems maybe more information is needed before you all go off and attempt anything if only
to perish. That is my two copper pieces worth of thoughts on the subject or maybe advice, if you prefer.
Whoemever is a Cleric or Priest will tell you that turning a Vampire in itself is difficult at best unless you are very powerful, I am sure."
Del goes back to drinking her hot beverage, awaiting a response.
"Killing means never having to say you're sorry"
Re: Act 3 Scene 1: Arrivals and Leavetakings
Jerry replies to Del, "No, that's inaccurate. Exactly what i said is true. If presented forcefully and with belief in its effect the holy symbol of a god aligned with law and goodness, or possibly that of Lathander, arch-enemy of undead, will repel a Faerunean vampire. If pressed into its flesh, it will cause it harm from which it will not easily recover. What you say about 'any person on the street' may be true: such an individual may not possess the will and presence.
"I do not mean to be rude but you either didn't quite understand or listen. I am going to try and procure things, the only things available short of finding a stash of magical weapons, that can impede, control or harm a Faerunean vampie. This one was my father and obviously therefore from Faerun and hence will have the properties I have outlined. Whether this evil place hs modified that I cannot say. But neither can anyone short of deific stature so say either. I've told you how to kill one. I omitted that if its body is detrroyed then it turns to gas to drift back to its lair, into its prepared coffin, it then coalesces into its physical body again where it must rest for a day. Destroying its coffin may prevent that and permanently kill it. Finding it in its coffin and staking it through the heart is an alternative. Both require finding its lair.
"For information, I am a cleric, a priest if you will, and I specialise in hunting undead, and doubly specialise in the study of vampires. For transparency I will state that I have never attempted to kill a vampire. But that is what I shall attempt, alone if need be. This creature was my father and needs to be put to rest. Should I fail, I cannot be certain but I predict the town will lose one inhabitant per night, possibly some of those returning as vampire spawn.
"Now, does anyone have an item I queried before: a (lawful good) holy symbol? And is anyone here willing to help search for this vampire's lair?"

Re: Act 3 Scene 1: Arrivals and Leavetakings
[It's a bit of a house-rule, I allow Good aligned (Not only LG, but NG and CG) holy symbols to work against Vampires. It doesn't necessarily need to be in the hands of a priest, but it DOES need to be in the hands of who is devout or at least has faith.. Those who are not priests of the diety they present but still hold within the alignment may present a qualifying symbol but must make a Cha roll, often with penalties.]
Re: Act 3 Scene 1: Arrivals and Leavetakings
" I have a Holy Symbol of Lathander , my father gave me, or one of Eilistraee ,which was my mother's. I doubt hers is
Lawful Good and I presume that Lathander's symbol is not either? As to helping you, then yes I am willing to as long as we plan properly
to kill your "Father"."

Re: Act 3 Scene 1: Arrivals and Leavetakings
Just before he hits the ground, Gregor pushes forward, tucks and rolls past the beastman. Heeding Mira's warning, he uses the remainder of his movement for the turn (if any) to distance himself from their opponent.
Re: Act 3 Scene 1: Arrivals and Leavetakings
Jerry gives a head bow, "Thank you, Del, that is, truly, immensely helpful. With presumption on my part, your god's symbol, Lanthander, is Neutral Good and that will work equally well in repelling and damageing a vampire of Faerun. As would one of Elistrae; that being Neutral Good. Other symbols of the same <alignment> types should also work.
"My father is already dead, gone, but yes, this abomination is to be destroyed once and for all."

I've cited alignment IG as shorthand for the more cumbersome statements of divine ethics and morailty.

Re: Act 3 Scene 1: Arrivals and Leavetakings
Reaching into her cloak and strange Armor, Del retrieves a Holy Symbol of Lathander handing it over to Jerry, nodding. Then reluctantly ,
with almost reverence, she removes a chain and hands over her Mother's personal Symbol , sighing.
"Well I've heard of stakingone, maybe garlic? But how knows, Maybe after you stake it you behead it. I might
suggest we get some Holy Water,, as I am pretty sure that will hurt it for sure. Unsure about silver but it could be a better choice if we do not
have any magical weapons available."

Re: Act 3 Scene 1: Arrivals and Leavetakings
"Thank you, Del, but unless you have another for yourself, I strongly suggest you should keep one of these," responds Jerry. "The other however, perhaps may be useful to another of strong personality and without a magical weapon. Merrick, or Sir Karl, perhaps?"
She shrugs and softens the gesture with a smile, "As for who knows, well, with nothing other than stating the truth, I do. Perhaps you were elsewhere when I commented on that*. To clarify any uncertainty about this, the creature, as a Faerunian vampire, will be repelled by garlic or a strongly presented mirror or goodly holy symbol. The latter, if pressed into its flesh will cause it damage, as will holy water, magical weapons or magical damage from spells. It has varying resistance according to the type of magical spell damage.
"After beheading, filling its mouth with holy wafers will work, preventing regeneration and killing it. The stake through the heart causes paralysis. Removal of the stake removes the paralysis. Silver has the same effect as ordinary steel or cold iron weapons: none."

"A Faerunian vampire casts no reflection in a mirror, casts no shadows and can move in complete silence. Physically it is very strong, can Charm with its gaze and absorb life energies through its touch. It is immune to Charm, Sleep and Hold magicsas well as poison or paralysis and resistant to Cold or Electrical spells. It may not enter a private dwelling without invitation but may Charm anyone opening the door or window and so forth to gain that invitation.

Magical weapons or a weapon that has been blessed or holy water or (lawful good) holy symbols are needed to physically harm the vampire. Even then it regenerates unless 'killed' whereupon it turns into a gas and returns to its coffin..."

[The person presenting the symbol needs some faith or connection with that specific deity. Merrick doesn't know any from FR except Jerry's goddess Mystra and only b/c he has heard her talk about it so much.
