CH. 10: Queen of Harts

"Mond!" Baeros almost shouts. "I'm from Mond too! I was lead to believe people here thinks we are savages!! Heaven above!" Baeros waves his hands with excitement. "Let me buy you a drink and tell you all about those deadly ettercaps later. But when did you leave Mond? I'm from the woods near Kaunati, Axe-wielder is the name, maybe you heard about my family? I'll be glad for news about them. My parents and brother, they didn't feel the urge to explore the world like I do... But I miss them a lot." Baeros face almost shine as he speaks about his family.

"Thank you very much" Ouragana says to the receptionist with a cheerful smile.

Nodding to Val if she sees her on her way out, Ouragana makes her way to the Thundergull's headquarters.

"Yeah, they were just here a couple of weeks ago, I think," the halfling says. "They were heading to Immerfort next; they're probably there by now."

The bartender quickly refills Val's mug with more ale. In the distance, she can hear thunder booming outside. It sounds like the storm is getting worse.

The man shrugs. "Not surprising...most people think that about us, not just the people of Hashadeth. I can't say I blame them. It's anarchy over there."

He goes on. "I've heard of Kaunati, but never been there. That's near the northern side, right? I'm from a town called Luna on the southern side. Left about four years ago, after a nasty League attack. Home got burned to the ground, so decided to take to sailing instead. Haven't looked back since."

Ouragana, Thundergulls' Headquarters
Ouragana steps out into the rain just as thunder booms threateningly above. The rain gets even worse, until it's an all out downpour. Within moments, she is soaked to the bone.

Moving quickly, she finds the guildhouse thanks to the detailed instructions of the inn's receptionist.

Just ignore the clear blue skies...

It's a lovely three story building with flower bushes around the front windows and a large sign hanging above the door. Compared to the elaborate tower on Ketos, it's downright humble. But it's still a fairly nice looking place, at least from the outside.

"Most likely," Jocelyn says with a small sigh. "What's your name?" she asks. "I'm Jocelyn."

Protected from most of the rain under the overhang above the front door, Ouragana uses a cantrip to dry her clothes enough so that they don't drip, then enters the building. "Good afternoon" she hails whoever is in there.

"Aye! The League is nasty indeed. Sorry to hear what had come of your home. I left the island only two years ago. Actually I passed through Luna while I headed to the port. I think they made quiet progress restoring the place. Did you lose someone in the attack?" Baeros asks worried.

"Ophira," the halfling says with a wave. "Nice to meetcha. So you're a sailor then, too?"

Ouragana, Thundergulls' Headquarters
An elf steps out from the backroom wearing purple robes and carrying a rather elaborate looking staff. A seagull sits on his shoulder. A small marble like stone, both red and blue in color, orbits the elf's head like a tiny moon.

"Welcome," he says, removing his hood. His hair is grey, suggesting he is rather old--but his face is still quite young looking, at least by human standards. His eyes are violet and his skin is quite pale. "How can I help you, miss?"

The man nods. "Aye, my sister and her husband, and their little girl. She was two. All burned up in the fire. Damn Leaguers. What good is freedom if you're dead?" he asks hypothetically.

"I was, for a short time," Jocelyn says. "I'm a Pastor of Octhanus now," she explains. "Normally, I would be at my little temple of Octhanus, trying to run things, but something a little more personal has come up that needs my attention. As I'm friends with the Bullring sisters, it was my hope to find them to get their help."

[BishGada]

"That is terrible! I'm sorry for your lose." Baeros says with a mix of compassion and rage. "So what are you doing here? I'm Baeros by the way. Axe-wielder as you already know." Baeros grins.

[Breila]

"I am a storm sorcerer and have just arrived in town. Recently, I noticed a surge in my magical powers and now I am looking for new spells to learn." Ouragana answers the elf. "My name is Ouragana Stormbride, if that is of interest."

"Hmm, that is a problem," Ophira says. "They left over a week ago. Even if you departed today, you probably wouldn't catch up with them. Your best bet is to find out where they were heading next, and try to beat them there."

Not returning the grin, the man says, "Looking for new work. Lots of ships here, so hoping to find something good for a change. Turn my luck around."

Ouragana, Thundergulls' Headquarters
The elf bows slightly. "Azerath Thundergull, leader, founder and potionsmaster of this guild. Storm Sorcerer, eh? I remember when they first built that tower, a hundred years ago. Who is the headmaster these days? Ozpin...wasn't it?" He shakes his head. "No matter. What manner of spells are you hoping to purchase this day?" he asks. He gestures and his seagull hops off his shoulder, flies across the room, and lands on a bird perch near the front door. The bird looks Ouragana over, tilting its head this way and that.

"How would I find out where they are headed next?" Jocelyn asks curiously.

Val retires to her room to bathe and clean her clothes

"What I most need are spells to use in defence when it comes to combat" Ouragana says.

"Good luck! You deserve it. If I'll hear of something I'll let you know. You are a sailor right? Any other professions that might come handy? And what's your name?"
