An expedition with the "Seagull"

Searos peeks his head into the room and also notes the entrance to the women's quarters. He suddenly glances back at Kim and grins a bit. He mutters to no one in particular "this might clear some things up..."

Those who stay on deck have to remain standing or sit down on the plank floor, the deck is kept neat and there are no seats. The Seagull seems not to be loaded to capacity, it lies quite high in the water. The current and wind carry the craft out of the estuary that houses Saltmarsh, and once they are on the open sea and have set their course to south, The Redbeard comes down from the aft upper deck and disappears behind the starboard door of the rear covered section of the main deck. The sailors go about their business, gesturing the passengers away as needed, but otherwise ignoring them.

Looking at the shore as it passes by, it becomes clear why Dunreese is reached more quickly by sea than by land: the cliffs that form the south border of the estuary are but the last part of a mountain range that would need a real pass to cross. South of it are lowlands, and there is a large, swampy river delta that would need to be passed far inland. A few small rowing boats are seen in the waterways of the delta, but the Seagull passes them to far away to allow to see details or to hail the occupants.

As the vessel starts to level out Brax moves back onto the main deck, watching the scenery with awe she walks near Amon. "Its lovely here.. Isn't it?

Amon jerks his head up and looks around quickly, realizing they are setting off. He had been so wrapped up in his own thoughts, he had not even noticed. "Hmm, what? Oh, yes. Quite lovely. I guess you get used to it, after awhile, though."

[Jenara]

"It is far different to my home, much nicer, I am not used to the sea, but I could get used to it." She stands a suitable distance away, wondering if Echo was watching her.

"What do you think we will find when we get there? I need to ask Pelor for aid, for prayers, do you have any suggestions what might be useful?"

"Honestly, I'm not sure," Amon admits. "Nor am I certain on what kind of spells Pelor can grant you, beyond the ones I've seen you use thus far. All we know at this point are people are disappearing from Dunreese. And we have been charged with discovery why and how. Perhaps divination would be in order?" he suggests.

Echo doesn't pay any attention to Brax or Amon. Instead, she seems to be concentrating on watching the water and seemingly enjoying the breeze as the ship begins to move.

"I can do that, and ensure we have suitable healing. We need to discuss our tactics too, an order when needed, to keep us alive and safe, I need to stay further from Harms way." She repiles, her eyes on the coast.

Amon nods. "Although it's difficult to come up with tactics ahead of time until we know what kind of situations we'll be facing. But it would be good to know ahead of time what everyone on the team is capable of doing; their strengths and weaknesses."

[Jenara]

"Like me understanding I can't take the world on alone. Someone told me recently we are the two most likely to take control of this situation. I propose we work together, you have the brains, and people tend to.. Talk to me." she offers her small hand. "Partners?" she grins. "Besides most of of them listen to you."

Amon shakes the woman's hand. "All right. Thanks for your cooperation. Maybe this time, we'll do better as a group. And if we don't...at least that damned jester won't be around to make us look bad again."

[Jenara]

Taking Amons hand in her strong grip she nods. "We need to rely on Vee and Gunter at the front, myself at the back, you mages in the middle." She glances at Searos. "And Master Searos... We let him do his thing."

Looking out to sea she gives Amon a cheeky grin, "As for the Jester, I believe he might not be as bad as you think, but I won't let him come between us. I suggest you discuss your spell choices with Echo and Kim, agree what is best."

If somebody will look for Vee she'll be found lying on the deck in the sun. After taking one of Drakes candied ginger candys (not against the see, she was used to being on a ship, but against her hangover) she searched a place more or less out of the way of the crew. Now you can hear her quietly snoozing off her drunkness...

Just as the first gentle snores leave Vee's mouth, she finds herself being woken. "I'm sorry, Miss, but you are not safe here" a gentle voice says close to her ears. When she turns and looks who's talking to hear, she sees a young, round face with big brown eyes, slightly pointed ears stick out of a mop of blond hair. When she sits up, her face is almost level with the newcomer's, who stretches out a hand in welcome. "I'm Sam. I'm the cook's helper. Let me show you a place where you can sleep in peace."

He waits patiently for her to get up and guides her to the door next to the stairway, sees her through and also through the next door towards the stern of the ship. In that second room, one set of double bunk beds is at the left, and a second one stands at the wall to their right. To the curved wall of the stern, a bench is fixed, with a table in front. One small porthole between the left bunk bed and the bench lets in some light.

"You are the first to come here, so you can choose your bed" the halfling tells Vee with a bright smile.

"Amon?" Brax watches the ship move on the surface of the water, her teeth grinding slowly she moves near Amon. "You are used to this, aren't you?" She shudders, "All I can see is us sinking into the depths below." She chuckles. "The rational part of my brain tells me that is a stupid thing to think, but...."
