"I understand. I do. I have stood in the heat of battle and watched my men fall. What happened is a tragedy. Please, allow us to aid you if nothing else." Or else the boy would be killed, he knew that, and he didn't like that idea one bit.

The Broken Wheel: (Cross, Iscind, Karl, Elsa, Del, Esker)

Jerry and Merrick hear Airand's introduction as they approach the inn. Airand, not seeing them yet, steps inside. Jerry and Merrick enter behind the youths (Airand and Azais, whom they both recognize as some of Mira's patrons/ friends).

At Karl's offer of aid, Airand hesitates but nods. Very well. We need to make sure this... filth pays for what he did to Laisa. Azais clutches at the young man's arm with concern on her face, but he fails to notice.

Elsa perks up as Jerry enters, Oh, good! You're back! I think we all need to discuss this... We haven't been able to figure out who... uh... she hesitates under Airand's gaze, who it is yet, but we think we may be able to lay a trap for them...

The Old Shacks: (Gregor, Pyros, Mira)
A sluggish feeling threatens to take over each but as Mira performs her Fight song the dirge is disrupted!

Pyros begins to taut the still hidden performer. Gregor draws his broadsword and moves closer to the brush... as he gets closer the sound of fierce growling barely reaches his ears through the noise of the falls and Mira's countersong.

Witha burst of speed, the massive hairy form of a man with the head and claws of a wolf breaks from the bushes! Head and shoulders taller than Gregor, the savage creature lunges towards Pyros!

[Gregor can make an opportunity attack if he likes as the creature moves past him at the end of R0. Actions for Round 1?]
====
Init R0:

Violinist: (1+3 ability) = 4
Mira: (2+3 ability) = 5
Pyros: (3+3 ability) = 6
Gregor: (8-1+6 BdSwd) = 12

Gregor and Pyros are not surprised

Something??? Plays a Lethargic Song (Save vs Spell or affected as the Slow spell)

Mira Save vs Spell (13)
[1d20] = 18, pass! Mira is not Slowed!

Mira uses Bardic Ability Counter Music against the song!
The Lethargic Song is Countered and cannot affect anyone else this round!

Pyros Taunts the violinist.

'Violinist' save vs taunt [1d20]=3, Fail!
Muat attack Pyros if able at -2 to hit, +2 to AC

Gregor draws his Broadsword and moves South East 30 feet to the edge of the brush.

'Violinist' (has not yet moved) bursts from the bushes and rushes 50 feet towards Pyros and into melee range.

How much space does Pyros have?

He wants to continue verbally abusing the "Violent Violinist", while trying to stay out of his reach. Using the parrying or dodge type actions.

He will mock him by playing an "air" violin, while evading him.

Iscind

Spying Esker's return she thinks well the tomcat has found his way home. As the boy's words are translated for her she responds, "Tell him if there is anything Esker and I can do to help we will do so." Happy to volunteer Esker, she looks to him, "Perhaps we should visit the scene of the crime and see if we can determine if some evidence of the culprit might be revealed to us."

Gregor gasps slightly as the beast bursts from the bushes. Recovering quickly he takes advantage of the beast's rage and strikes the animal in the back as it rushes toward Pyros.

[OOC: Does the beast's displeasure with Pyros allow Gregor to backstab? (+4 to hit, 3x damage). I'll roll the basic THAC0 without pluses.]

Gregor stabs: [1d20]=20

[Backstab critical if he's lucky :)]

(I'm going to assume that the creature has now finished its song, and her counter song is no longer needed)

letting the lute fall Mira opens her hands, "Shot, through the heart, and your to blame." she sings, Magic flying from her fingers.
All three aim straight for him:

Magic Missile [1d4+1]=2+1=3 [1d4+1]=1+1=2 [1d4+1]=2+1=3
" Kid never learned to clear a room. Doors and corners, I told him. Doors and corners."

After the lovely, reaffirming hug with Elsa, Jerry turns to Airand and Azais, "I'm sorry for your loss. The thing you're after is a vampire, once my father but needs to be put to permanent rest. It will return to kill again, if not this night then another. probably me or someone that appears similar."

The Broken Wheel: (Cross, Iscind, Karl, Elsa, Del, Esker)
Elsa returns Jerry's hug, glad she has returned, and nods at the quiet question. When Jerry steps back and announces she suspects that the killer is not only her father but a Vampire Elsa gasps and pales visibly. Cross seems mostly curious at the possibilities, I suppose we will have to revise our plans to some degree...

Airand and Azais seem stunned, the latter with her mouth agape; clutching her friend's arm even tighter Airand stares at Jerry for a moment but then quietly speaks. Go home, Azi... It's not safe... Turning to Jerry, his face creases with renewed anger and determination. So. How do we kill it?

The Old Shacks: (Gregor, Pyros, Mira)
[Since the creature is basically in a blind rage I'll say it is ignoring Gregor enough to qualify for a backstab opportunity this first round.]

Mira sends off a burst of magical missiles, each striking and harming the massive creature looming over the Kender. Pyros begins dodging as well as he is able; his withered leg giving him a little trouble. His efforts prove no match for the savage predator as it snatches the diminutive rogue up in wicked jaws designed to tear flesh! The creature shakes the Kender in his clamped bite like a hound with a rabbit; punching easilh through armor and flesh alike with brutal efficiency. Dropping the barely conscious bloodied mess of a rogue to the ground it tries to pin him with one clawed arm, but even in this state Pyros manages to twist away to avoid the second blow.

Creeping up behind the savage beast, Gregor aims carefully and puts his body-weight fully behind his lethal skill as the broadsword connects. The tip of the blade strikes as if he were stabbing an oak and skitters off the creature's hide harmlessly! Even so, the force and angle of the blow shoves against the Wolf-man's hips, drivng it down to the ground!

[Gregor hit, but his weapon is incapable of harming the creature! However I rule even an ineffective weapon can effectively stagger or stun a foe for one round when a crit is rolled. The wolf-man is now stunned and prone for 1 round]
[Actions Round 2?]

Jerry studies Airand for a few moments fofore replying, "A vampire from my world, Faerun, may be killed by direct exposure to sunlight or by immersion in running water for a while. That knowledge on its own is not so very helpful. There is more, a lot more.

"A Faerunian vampire casts no reflection in a mirror, casts no shadows and can move in complete silence. Physically it is very strong, can Charm with its gaze and absorb life energies through its touch. It is immune to Charm, Sleep and Hold magicsas well as poison or paralysis and resistant to Cold or Electrical spells. It may not enter a private dwelling without invitation but may Charm anyone opening the door or window and so forth to gain that invitation.

"They are repelled by garlic, or a strongly presented mirror or lawful good holy symbol. Magical weapons or a weapon that has been blessed or holy water or (lawful good) holy symbols are needed to physically harm the vampire. Even then it regenerates unless 'killed' whereupon it turns into a gas and returns to its coffin. it may be paralysed by a wooden stake through the heart. Subsequent beheading and stuffing its mouth with holy wafers will kill it.

"I was planning to look for its lair today. I have affinity with such tasks."

Panting from the vicious bite and shake, Pyros pulls out the silver dagger.

"I've had worse bites from Ol' Ankle Biter back home."
With a bit less gusto than his previous taunts.

He will flash a look at Gregor.
"Mira, your Prized Dagger. Maybe Gregor could use it?

He will then stab with his.
[1d20]=3

Knowing how advantageous it can be to strike from an unseen area, Pyros will try to move about if he thinks he can make it so Gregor can get a better shot in.

"Gregor!" Mira shouts, taking the moment to extract her Iron Blade from its scabbard on her back she calls out. "Iron, they don't like Iron." Handing the weapon to the Thief she calls on her magic once more.

Magic Missile [1d4+1]=1+1=2 [1d4+1]=1+1=2 [1d4+1]=2+1=3

"A Vampire, I have not heard of such things. My Knowledge is limited, but a Lair you say? So much like any creature it resides somewhere." He rubs his moustache, realising his words and offer were misplaced, but he was a man of his word. "Perhaps, you can aid us? You know these people, this land, we generally are visitors from other lands as I am sure Lady Mira explained." He directs his thoughts to the two locals, "Young Lady, such things are a shock to me also. On my Honour, Laisha will be avenged." he places his right hand over his heart, lowering his head.

"Perhaps we should talk to the Local authorities, tell them not of the creatures nature, but of the connection. Advise that all others stay inside."

Got it! exclaims Gregor in common. Let's see how the beastie likes this! Gregor attempts to position himself in a sneak attack position against the stunned and prone beastman.

Gregor stabs [1d20]=1

Gregor is distracted as his thoughts turn to how much he could use a drink prior to attacking.
