Stik wrote:"I said: 'Fairly quiet.' The commander hanged one from a tree at the crossroads two months ago. Such a gesture sends a powerful message.”
Vecchio ponders Bastian’s words, then says: “Your group was debriefed before being permitted to enter the village, so the commander has the story. I shall suggest that a squad be sent out to the site, to search for any sign of your monsters. You can go along to show them the way.”
Ismaels-Legacy wrote:"As you wish. I would like to take another from my traveling companions as well. She has proven her worth with a sword and has a better memory for military happenings than myself."
Awwww. Bastian said "yes" too fast. I was hoping to have to convince him, like Burke and Gorman did with Ripley in
Aliens. "You wouldn't be going in with the troops. I can guarantee your safety."

Back from the Pennsic War.
Monday was the Town battle - three battles to control a town made up of hay-bale buildings, fought to the last man
Tuesday was the Bridge battle - five fifteen-minute battles for control of five bridges, after which I fought in a memorial/charity tourney for a friend of mine who died last month.
Wednesday I had off - Champions battles and such.
Thursday was the woods battle - capture the flags for two hours, in thick woods, with unlimited resurrections.
Friday was the Field Battle - five fifteen-minute open field battles to the last man.
The weather was not great - we had some brief but violent storms on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday evenings, with hot days in between. It dampened the evening party atmosphere somewhat, but didn't interfere with the fighting.
I made it through this year without a scratch, although I was plagued every day by heat and dehydration - this is the first time I ever came close to dropping from the heat, but I soldiered on and lived on water and gatorade.
So, now I am back and ready to brush the dust off this thing. I'll post tomerrow or Tuesday to get things rolling.

Another small war this weekend - Friday night after dinner was a torchlight tournament - pretty much pitch black outside but for the light of four tiki torches. I took second place in a group of eleven fighters and lost to the King of Acre 2-1 in the best-of-three finals. It was amazing fighting in the dark - it really changes how you perceive thefight. Saturday was a scenario featuring four resurrection battles through wooded terrain and a final battle on an open field.
The fighting was pretty much continuous for four hours, with only short breaks between - just long enough to walk, in armor, from one battleground to the next. I am so tired and sore right now.
In other news, we have another new player coming aboard. Everyone welcome Chris, aka "Headshot."

My children bought themselves toy/exercise swords made of beech wood during the summer. They already managed to split one. I guess once they reach minimum age to join the reenactor group here, they will join. At least my son will. I stay on the periphery, providing costumes.
In November, I will be able to rejoin the historical dance group for a day, and I'm very much looking forward to it.
And welcome Headshot/Chris. Hope we will have a great time together!

Hello all,
Glad to be aboard. It's nice to see the old rules still being played, and don't worry about the name Headshot. I have my share of 1's as I do 20's

I've been playing DnD for a long time now, and its nice to see people still playing it as ADnD. My real name is Chris, I live in New Jersey. I like cold nights, and long walks off of short piers

I have a love of playing Clerics and/or Thieves. I will post as often as I can but I do work overnights and not really a night person so I don't always get on the computer but will endeavor to help keep the game "a-rolling"

Thanks, Jen, for the pending update.
Headshot, Papa is in the Blue Bolt tavern. Please join the main thread when the appropriate time comes. You'll know when.
BTW: Do I need to open a side thread for Angel and Liri?
