(It should be noted that Garroth always had his maul, even when kneeling, it was in his left hand on the ground beside him, so it was always in his hand.. he actually did the opposite of reaching towards it by placing it head first on the ground and resting his arm on the upright handle. When walking, he carries and walks with it like a staff. This might change their actions... nonobserver could have possibly though he was trying to arm himself...)

if he always had his hand on his maul, why did you feel the need to say "Garroth rests one wrist on top of the maul handle," implying his hand was closer to the handle

Also, the only 'insult' they seem to have given him is not immediately trusting a complete stranger's word and a very slight emphasis when the woman said 'minotaur'.

As for the threat, that didn't happen until Garroth moved 'one wrist on top of the maul handle'

I was going for the "place the weapon down and lean on it conveniently" act, the same as a Palafin would do with a great sword..

I though I was descriptive prevuously that he uses his maul like a walking stick, and mentioned a few times he was using it as a crutch.

All good - made for some interesting role play. In future, unless stated, he travels with the maul as a staff, or walking stick. Holding it under the head as he walks..

It was just a very unfortunate placement in the sentence to mention his hand on the handle of the weapon resulting in some ambiguity..

Welp! Linar's use of "van" is exactly why I chose it for the root of Vanidur. This Illusionist likes to be in the rear with the gear... Looks like that may have backfired!
