Amon carefully approaches the man in the cage, to see if he is still alive. He holds his torch up high to see better. The abjurer also keeps an eye out for any other doors or exits. Dogmeat sniffs around idly, exploring the new area.

Gunter sniffs at the air and draws his sword.
"Well now, this is something different altogether..."
He looks at Searos while motioning with his blade towards the halfling.
"What do you suppose he's in for?"

"Oh... Is he dead?" Vee asks stretching her staff slowly into the cage to prick the man, looking out for movement of the halfling.

The Halfling rumors slightly, rolling over, a large ugly welt is visible on his head, Gunter notes it appears to be caused by a blunt instrument, just like a staff.
"Whaaaaa!" The Halfling moans, clutching his head, "What in the name of the Nine Hells is going on!" Staring at the group with unfocused eyes.

Searos walks up to the cage and squats down in front of the halfling. "I don't know stumpy... I think you might only be dealing with a couple of the hells. Judging by the smell a couple of specific ones. Now, if you ever want to take a bath again - something I strongly suggest by the way - you will tell me why you are in there and who is running this joint."

Kim stands silently, keeping ears open to the sounds of the group in the basement, and to anything that might come from elsewhere in the house.

Echo rolls her eyes at Searos. "Way to earn his trust," she says sarcastically as she walks up to the cage.

"You think I know?" He grimaces, smelling himself, "I thought you were with them, whoever did this to me."
Trying to rise he manages to sit up, "I came to the house, for the jewels you see, walked about a bit, found the trapdoor with these eyes of mine.." He shudders "IT came at me, the Ghost, telling me to leave, so I legged it, hit me head.. And next thing I know I'm here."
He looks at them closely, his eyes focusing better now. "Gudrum Tallmaster, at your service, treasure hunter and salesman. Now who fancies springing me from this cage?"
Anyone moving closer note the stone walls of the cage are covered in children's drawings, etched into the walls.

Searos glances back at Echo: "You think I'm interested in his trust?"
He looks back at the halfing. "Wait, did you say your name is Tallmaster? Someone way back when must have had an interesting sense of humor to saddle your family with that particular moniker. Now, you mentioned jewels. Tell us about these jewels." Searos glances at the drawings in the cage. "If you don't the... umm... God of Halfings? Yeah, the god of halfings will be very disappointed in you."

"I ain't stupid boy." Gudrum says with a half grin, obviously some is mean't tongue in cheek. "They say the house is full of gold and jewels, what sort of Treasure Hunter turns down Jewels." He says nothing of his family name, instead choosing to leer at Echo and to some extent Vee, although he is more discreet.

"We might be able to get more out of him if we were to earn his trust instead of treating him like a complete fool," Echo says to the thief. While the urge to slap Searos upside the head is strong, she somehow manages to resist the temptation.
Echo turns her attention to the halfling, taking note of the look he is giving her. She rolls her eyes and motions to the drawings at the wall. "Are you trying to fool your captors into thinking you are a little kid?" she asks.

"Greetings, Mister Tallmaster," Amon says. "Is there a key nearby that can open this cage? Have you seen no sign of whoever captured you? And how long have you been stuck in here?" he asks politely.

Rather bewildered by the barrage of questions he shrugs "one of you at once please!"
"Still, pictures were here before i was, today first time i know where i am." he looks about. "You gonna let me out so i can get my gear and maybe help you nice folks out? Who are the rest of you?"

Searos rolls his eyes at the two mages and stands up. He looks at the caged fellow, "Good luck with these two." He nods his head at Echo "Oh and you'd have a better shot with some sort of ice monster." He waves at them and goes to check out the rest of the room and see if there is anything interesting down here.

"You say something about gold and jewels? Do you know where we have to search the treasure? And... wait, why do you know that there are others?" Vee asks Gudrum.
