Arulia stands in the doorway and eyes the coins hungrily, but tears her gaze away after a moment to keep a watch on the room in case more cultists and snake-folk arrive to challenge them. "That would keep us from starvation and homelessness for a long time, I guess, but it won't do any good if I get killed before I can take it home," she thinks. She doesn't share her worry with the rest of the group, though, and says instead, "Gather it up quickly. We can divide it up fairly after we leave this place."

"Looks sorta conspicuous, why would they just leave a smashed chest like that spilling with steel?" Haahqae will search around for traps, but when mr-trap-o-matic declares it safe he'll make for the steel and see if he can devide it evenly, and quickly.

"These piles are about the same size, everyone gets one." He'll declare, and scoop up the one with the shiniest coins.

Haahqae, Arulia, Gobax, Felran and Ne-Chanz (Deserted Building)
Gobax gives the room a quick look around, but doesn't see any traps. The dresser is full of old, brown robes (the signature color of Belzor). Inside the crates and barrels are largely things like construction tools (hammers, nails, etc.), spare parchment and ink, and a surprising amount of old snake skins.

When Haahqae tries to grab some of the coin, Yvette smacks his hand as if he were a child reaching for the cookies his mother just baked. "It's important things are precise and fair; we cannot just randomly divide it up on a cursory glance and hope for the best. Xyleena and I will stay here and count them out and divide them evenly. Why don't the rest of you look for your friend? We should be done by then, then we can each take our fair share and leave."

(OOC: Coins are 50 to a pound.)

Kendra Greylock (Haven's Vale)
With a sudden swipe of her swords, Kendra takes off Krup's head. Before his body can even fall, it quickly turns to stone. His head hits the ground and rolls a bit, before also turning to stone. The others stare aghast, shocked by the turn of events. It's not until elven arrows start whizzing from the brush, hitting Tern and Slinn, before they realize what is happening.

"Bitch! She's with the elves!" Grev cries, drawing his blade and stabbing Kendra in the shoulder. Tern hisses and throws a dagger, but his aim is off. Slinn, however, is still in shock and looks down at the arrow sticking out of his arm numbly, his brain unable to process yet what is happening.

==============

Surprise Round
Krup's surprise roll (1d10): 1, surprised
Grev's surprise roll (1d10): 9, not surprised
Tern's surprise roll (1d10): 5, not surprised
Slinn's surprise roll (1d10): 1, surprised

Kendra swings her primary magic (+2 hit/dmg) long sword with great skill (+1 hit/+2 dmg) at Krup [TN 14] (1d20+3): 13+3 = 16, hit for (1d8+5): 1+5 = 6 damage. She then swings her secondary masterwork (+1 hit/dmg) long sword with great skill (+1 hit/+2 dmg) at Krup [TN 14] (1d20): 15+2 = 17, hit for (1d8+3): 4+3 = 7 damage. Krup is petrified.
Sadron fires a sheaf arrow from his long bow at short range with elven grace (+1 hit) at Grev [TN 12] (1d20+1): 9+1 = 10, miss.
Blonde Elf fires a sheaf arrow from her short bow at short range with elven grace (+1 hit) at Tern [TN 16] (1d20+1): 19+1 = 20, hit for (1d8): 4 damage. Tern is moderately wounded.
Brunette Elf fires a sheaf arrow from her short bow at short range with elven grace (+1 hit) at Slinn [TN 16] (1d20+1): 17+1 = 18, hit for (1d8): 3 damage. Slinn is critically wounded.
Grev stabs at Kendra with his short sword against her studded leather (-1 hit) [TN 15] (1d20-1): 19-1 = 18, hit for (1d6): 5 damage. Kendra is moderately wounded.
Tern throws a dagger at Kendra against her studded leather (-1 hit) [TN 15] (1d20-1): 4-1 = 3, miss.
Slinn is surprised.
Krup is dead.

(OOC: Actions for Round 1?)

Tulbas Erogund (Cultist Lair, Barracks)
Tulbas studies his spellbook.

===========

Tulbas is studying Sleep. He will memorize it in 8 rounds.

Shima Longfoot (Merchant District)
Shima heads back downstairs and then out the door, into the cold. There is frost on everything, but it has yet to snow yet. It probably won't be much longer, though. Winter is coming, and soon. Shima has the feeling that this year it will be particularly cold.

Trying to ignore the chattering of his own teeth, he starts heading to the Steel Tankard. When he's about half-way there, he spots a woman in black robes walking down the street in Shima's direction. The cowl of her robes is up, obscuring her features. She's wearing an emblem around her neck that resembles a dragon with five heads. People give her a wide berth, clearly terrified of her.

Arulia shakes her head at Yvette's suggestion. "If you don't trust the gnome," she begins, "why should the gnome trust you to be any fairer? As a matter of fact, I don't know if I can trust any of you. Gather up the coin now, and we'll divide it equally when we get back to the inn, where all of us can see it done ourselves."

She has a point. Grubnick says. Lets gather it up and head to the next room across the other side.

"Well it sounds like we're in argument. Or Agreement, one of those. Danger before treasure." Haahqae replies cheerfully, and scoops up all of the piles of coins.

"Now let's find out what's behind the next door, hopefully it will be more of the same."

(Hopefully this won't heavily encumber Haahqae)

Haahqae, Arulia, Gobax, Felran and Ne-Chanz (Deserted Building)
"You're right, of course," Yvette says to Arulia. She pulls out an empty sack from her pack and starts to fill it with the coins. It looks like a couple of potions are in there, too. Once she's collected it all, she hefts the sack back into her pack. Although it looks like a very heavy load (almost 15 pounds), she isn't carrying enough gear for it to slow her down. "Shall we be off then?" she asks, gesturing to the next door.

==========

(OOC: It would take about 10 minutes or so to count out the coins and separate them.

EDIT: Oh, looks like Haahque posted while I was posting, but yeah, it would knock him into moderate encumbrance, which would drop his MV to 3 and inflict a -1 penalty to hit.)

Kendra Greylock (Haven's Vale)
The three Baaz all attack Kendra, furious at her betrayal. One of Tern's daggers manages to cut into her arm, but beyond that she doesn't take any hits. However, Grev easily deflects all of her attacks, as well. "Even if you kill us, traitor, the Dragon Queen, Takhisis, will avenge us against your sin!"

All throughout, the elves fire arrows from their hiding places in the brush. Tern gets hit twice, slowing him down. But Grev manages to avoid them all. Slinn takes an arrow in the heart and like Krup, his body transforms into stone.

==============

Initiative
Kendra (1d10+5): 8+5 = 13
Grev (1d10+3): 6+3 = 9
Tern (1d10+2): 1+2 = 3
Slinn (1d10): 2
Sadron (1d10+8): 10+8 = 18
Blonde Elf (1d10+7): 8+7 = 15
Brunette Elf (1d10+7): 3+7 = 10

Round 1!

Slinn slashes at Kendra with his left claw against her studded leather (-2 hit) [TN 15] (1d20-2): 6-2 = 4, miss. He then slashes at Kendra with his right claw against her studded leather (-2 hit) [TN 15] (1d20-2): 11-2 = 9, miss.
Tern throws a dagger at Kendra against her studded leather (-1 hit) [TN 15] (1d20-1): 6-1 = 5, miss.
Grev stabs at Kendra with his short sword against her studded leather (-1 hit) [TN 15] (1d20-1): 11-1 = 10, miss.
Brunette Elf fires a sheaf arrow from her short bow at short range with elven grace (+1 hit) at Slinn [TN 16] (1d20+1): 16+1 = 17, hit for (1d8): 7 damage. Slinn is petrified.
Kendra swings her primary magic (+2 hit/dmg) long sword with great skill (+1 hit/+2 dmg) at Grev [TN 14] (1d20+3): 6+3 = 9, miss. She then swings her secondary masterwork (+1 hit/dmg) long sword with great skill (+1 hit/+2 dmg) at Grev [TN 14] (1d20): 4+2 = 6, miss.
Blonde Elf fires a sheaf arrow from her short bow at short range with elven grace (+1 hit) at Tern [TN 16] (1d20+1): 17+1 = 18, hit for (1d8): 2 damage. Tern is now seriously wounded.
Sadron fires a sheaf arrow from his long bow at short range with elven grace (+1 hit) at Grev [TN 12] (1d20+1): 10+1 = 11, miss.
Tern throws a dagger at Kendra against her studded leather (-1 hit) [TN 15] (1d20-1): 19-1 = 18, hit for (1d4): 2 damage.
Brunette Elf fires a sheaf arrow from her short bow at short range with elven grace (+1 hit) at Grev [TN 16] (1d20+1): 3+1 = 4, miss.
Kendra swings her primary magic (+2 hit/dmg) long sword with great skill (+1 hit/+2 dmg) at Grev [TN 14] (1d20+3): 7+3 = 10, miss.
Blonde Elf fires a sheaf arrow from her short bow at short range with elven grace (+1 hit) at Tern [TN 16] (1d20+1): 19+1 = 20, hit for (1d8): 3 damage. Tern is now critically wounded.
Sadron fires a sheaf arrow from his long bow at short range with elven grace (+1 hit) at Grev [TN 12] (1d20+1): 8+1 = 9, miss.

Shima Longfoot (Merchant District)
Shima continues on his path, and the priestess continues on her. Although she clearly sees him coming, she makes no effort to alter her course. At this rate, if one of them doesn't step aside, they will crash into each other. A few people stop to watch, wondering what is going on.

Ok, if Yvette's taking the coins, Haahqae's going to watch her like a hawk the entire rest of the trip. He needs those coins and he doesn't trust her at all.
