So all four of you are in favor of retrieving the heart? I ask to make sure I'm not misunderstanding your posts, but it sounds like we have a full consensus among the four PCs.

I think you are waiting on Berlin, her reply wasn't Clear.

Sie ist ein Berliner?

Also, I would like Nuke to explain to me Val's motivation in what she did. You can PM me if you don't want to be public about it, but I'd very much like to know for the sake of my character development notes.

Ouragana doesn't care one way or the other. She only wants to get away alive.

Can I make it clear that Arei doesnt want to go on, but realises she really has no choice. If there was any other way off the island she would take it right now.

Why does she have no choice?

The probability of Arei and Ouragana making it back to the bay where they came ashore alive is not too great, and they might not be taken back to the boat by the dwarves either.
Ouragana has made it clear that she considers the killing of the Natives wrong, a genocide, but no one ever listened to her.

So you're both under the impression that the only way to return to the ship is to go by yourselves?

Exactly. Thinking about it, I will suggest that we report back to the ship. Tell them what was found.

Everyone else is set on going on.

It seems to me that Val and Jocelyn are for staying, Areilon and Ouragana for leaving, then. Unless I'm mistaken?

If the party leaves now, they should be safe (unless I roll some nasty random encounters), but they won't get much in the way of XP or payment.

If the party stays, but avoids the heart, there are still other places for them to explore and other artifacts to search for.

If the party stays and retrieves the heart, the payoff will be tremendous, in terms of both XP and gold. Those who haven't leveled yet will be guaranteed to do so, and those who have already leveled may well do so again. However, it will be incredibly dangerous and some (or all) of the party may not survive. The head shaman is fairly high level (high enough to brew potions; that should tell you something there) and the heart is well-guarded. Then again, maybe the party can find a way to retrieve it with a minimum of combat.

Basically, it boils down to a gamble. You can play it safe and guarantee survival, but lose out on a lot of XP and treasure. Or you can go for the jackpot, but risk not surviving the ordeal. Right now the PCs appear split 50/50 on what to do, so I'll give you all a little more time to weigh your options and debate with each other.

And perhaps it has nothing to do with treasure and XP?
