It's unclear how much damage it would do. Only one way to find out.

It means you get a +2 to your roll. You need to roll 14 or higher to succeed, but that +2 adds another 10% chance of success. So if you roll a 12, you still succeed, because 12+2 is 14.

BishGada wrote:(OOC: I know it is never good to argue with the DM but before posting the message I looked at the players handbook and here is the quote:
2nd Ed. Players Handbook wrote:Open Doors indicates the character's chance to force open a heavy or stuck door.
When a character tries to force a door open, roll 1d20. If the result is equal to or less than
the listed number, the door opens. A character can keep trying to open a door until it
finally opens, but each attempt takes time (exactly how much is up to the DM) and makes
a lot of noise.
Numbers in parentheses are the chances (on 1d20) to open a locked, barred, or
magically held door, but only one attempt per door can ever be made. If it fails, no further
attempts by that character can succeed.
So I figured I can continue trying to open the door. Although seeing the spikes jumping would make even Baeros think again about running to the door a second time. :)
)
I don't see how. Note what the second paragraph says.
Numbers in parentheses are the chances (on 1d20) to open a locked, barred, or magically held door, but only one attempt per door can ever be made. If it fails, no further attempts by that character can succeed.
If the door is locked, which it is, you can only make one attempt and if you fail, you cannot try again. Seems pretty cut and dry to me.

Ha, remember how last year I forgot the anniversary of this game by two weeks? Well, this year I forgot for over a month.

Yep, June 15th was the third anniversary of 'Lost Souls: Octhania,' and once again I completely forgot about it.

In the last year, you all have gone from around level 5 to around...actually, you're still around level 5. In fact, we were only in chapter 10 a year ago. It's taken us a whole year just to progress almost 3 chapters. The game seems to have really slowed down, huh? I mean, we've spent over a week just on this one door so far. Crazy, huh?

In any case, all PCs will be rewarded a bonus 3,000 XP in celebration of the anniversary at the end of the current chapter. It should help in getting us closer to the end of the arc, which should take another 2-3 years at this rate.

I guess I didn't read the second paragraph and based my assumptions on the first paragraph. 8O Referring to the wrong quotes always serve to bend the rules a bit.

Sorry for that.

BishGada wrote:regarding initiative when using two swords, doesn't each swors has it's own SF and therefore different time of the attack within a round? and not both according to the slower one?
According to the PHB in the combat chapter (ch. 9), under "Multiple Attacks and Initiative" it says:

"When multiple attacks are the result of different attack forms--claws and a bite or bite and tail or a ranger with his two-weapon combat ability for example--the attacks all occur at the same time. The creature resolves all of its attacks in initiative order." (Emphasis mine.)

Basically, Baeros isn't waiting for two openings, one for each sword. He's waiting for one opening, then striking with both swords at once. Since the long sword is the slower of the two, I go with that speed.

Alright, it's ridiculous that we should have to wait over a week to complete a simple three round battle. I shouldn't have to invoke the Three Day Rule three times in a row.

Nuke hasn't logged in 8 days, so I'll be assuming full control of his character until he returns, so we aren't sitting around waiting for him so much. (On a lesser note, xelphyn has also been missing 8 days, but his character is unconscious, so it doesn't really matter at the moment.)

We're also waiting on chese, but I'm just going to assume Drav is going to attack again so we can move on. I'll post the update now.

Oh no, I'm dying! Heh, I guess it's a good thing considering I haven't been able to log in for a while. I ended up getting roped into helping my brother run a gyro stand on a tour of state fairs, and the internet at this place is, sparce.
If I don't log back on by the time Dahn regains consciousness (assuming he ever does), he will be interested in any books or other magical devices ( but mostly books that look like they would contain spells within. Also trinkets and baubles, but he's done touching things, or at least done touching things before someone else has touched them, so he will be having someone else hand him anything that looks interesting.
