Re: CH. 11: The Show Must Go On
Tulbas looks at the dark dwarf and asks, "What are you doing in the sewers all day?"
Re: CH. 11: The Show Must Go On
Haahqae, Kendra, Tulbas, Gobax and Shima (Grand Market)
Shima approaches Gobax and Tulbas to ask about what is happening. The goblin and elf both note that Shima is badly wounded, there is some kind of weird, dried slime crusted in his hair and beard, and he smells pretty rank.
Tethys, meanwhile, nods to Kendra. He then, without any warning, scoops her up in his arms. "Hold on," he says before spreading his wings and leaping upward, catching a current of air. The red dragon lowers his neck, allowing Tethys to land there. He then carries Kendra up to the saddle and sets her there.
The baaz start cleaning up their dead comrades the best they can. Some of the statues crack and turn to dust, so the baaz are forced to scoop up as much of the remains as they can into whatever they can find.
Arulia Seroth (Thoron's Blacksmithy)
"You and her know each other?" Camilla asks, surprised by that revelation. "Oh. Well, I hope one day I can be as strong as her. You should have seen her! I mean, some of the soldiers got killed helping her, but only a few. If she hadn't been there, that thing would have probably killed everyone in the square and burned down everything."
When Arulia mentions the gnome, she says, "Oh, yeah. He said his name was Haa-qae," she says with slow deliberateness, trying to make sure she pronounces it right. "He was nice. Taught me how to juggle. Too bad that monster attacked his show, though. But watching the fight was more fun than watching juggling," she admits.

Tulbas looks at Kendra being lifted and taken in quiet shock. 'Oh. That's just great. I guess our conversation is postponed.' "What happened to you? You are quiet wounded. Do you need bandages? We can go to the mageware shop and I can help you a bit. Gobax, want to join us?" Tulbas asks.
Re: CH. 11: The Show Must Go On
Shima says, "I was helping Ne-Chanz & Felran do a job. But I got fed up taking all the damage with those two standing around and not doing much. So when the Abyss is going on here? And any idea what happened to Greggedin?"

Despite being a hardened warrior, being scooped up and suddenly being whisked into the air was a little terrifying. Being placed on top of a red dragon was equally as terrifying, so she clutched to the saddle as if it was the only thing that was keeping her from dying. "Bad idea," she mutters.

Re: CH. 11: The Show Must Go On
Grubnick watches the prefect literally sweep Kendra off her feet... a warrior woman who single-handedly killed a fire elemental... Just #<)%&6 perfect... he thinks to himself. Yeah, let's get out of here... "Gobax" says.
Re: CH. 11: The Show Must Go On
"Apparently he tried to cast a spell on the prefect and found himself in jail, together with the whole trade guild. The baaz searched his house so it must not be good for him. I hoped we can speak to Kendra about this situation a bit since it seems she is very friendly with our winged prefect, but it seems she is not available..." Tulbas huffs and puffs while they walk quickly back to the mageware shop, not before checking if Haaque need help with something or would join them. "As for what happened in the market, well Haaque had put out quiet spectacular performance, and then a fire elemental appeared out of nowhere..." Tulbas lowers his voice to keep the next sentences of their conversation private, "luckily it was attacking the baaz with great ease. For some questionably reason Kendra ran off to kill it instead of letting it do a favor to the city and get rid of some more of these abominations. Since she was at risk Gobax and I helped her as best a we could."
While on their way Tulbas takes a mind note to talk about the experience with Magnus and ask as part of their training the best way to fight creatures from specific planes or classes.

"Winger Prefect? Are you telling me that dragon is the Prefect?" queries Shima in utter amazement.

Re: CH. 11: The Show Must Go On
The winged draconian that jumped on the dragon is the prefect. No offense, Tulbas, but i'd rather not meet your master. Will he be there?
Re: CH. 11: The Show Must Go On
Haahqae is rather in awe of the events that transpired, finally he manages to stammer; "Go back to our homes? But I was in the middle of a performance which I fully intend to finish should the audience wish to remain. It appears to me the threat is gone, so why let good practicing and anticipation go to waste?"
Haahqae hadn't even had time to start considering what he would DO given the events that happened today. So much had happened, but had anything really happened? If he does or does not finish his show today does that matter? He's been paid, perhaps he could use the unused acts of his performance for a new performance and make some more money. Now that some Baaz have seen him perform, he can raise the price a little and actually make a profit of this performance. Perhaps he should be glad that the fire death creature failed so quickly, and that he wasn't in the center of the biggest disaster since the dragon army invaded which could have made his performances a bad omen and hurt viewership significantly. Perhaps he should be angry that the attack happened at all, find out who caused it and hunt them down. Perhaps he should try and leverage his actions to defeat the elemental with the prefect and use that to get him some inside information on where the money the baaz are hording is and how he can retrieve the wealth to redistribute it accordingly. Perhaps he should march off and confront Myriam for trying to steal Ismene from him. She, unlike most of the other villains that have wronged him recently, at least Myriam isn't trying to hide, so Haahqae can confront her directly. He should also count the steel he made off this performance. So many things he could do, but first he wants to see if there's anyone who wants to watch the rest of his performance.

"Haahqae," Arulia murmurs. "I've met him before, too. What exactly happened? You say he was putting on a performance when the creature attacked? Where did it come from? And some soldiers died before Kendra stopped it...did anyone else die?"
Re: CH. 11: The Show Must Go On
Haahqae, Kendra, Tulbas, Gobax and Shima (Grand Market)
Tethys sits down in front of Kendra. "Hold on to me, if you like," he says to her. "Inferno, let's go home."
The dragon leans down onto its haunches and with a few flaps of its wings, suddenly leaps up into the air and takes flight. Kendra feels her stomach drop to her feet. But once the feeling clears, she realizes she is now airborne. The dragon circles the grand market, gaining altitude, before finally clearing the area and heading toward the noble district. The wind whips her golden hair behind her like a banner.
Once the dragon is gone, the bell in the fortress begins to toll, signaling that there is only an hour left until curfew begins. Haahqae is dismayed to see his audience start to file off to the barracks. The citizens begin leaving too, wishing to finish up whatever errands they were running before time runs out.
(OOC: I like how Tulbas, who barely knows Shima and has no idea where his loyalties lie, is openly telling him about how glad he was to see soldiers die. Hope that doesn't blow up in his face later.
)
Arulia Seroth (Thoron's Blacksmithy)
"That was the weird thing, the monster didn't come from anywhere," Camilla remarks. "It just appeared out of nowhere, right in the middle of the market square. It punched one of the soldiers so hard, he turned to dust! Then Kendra started fighting it, and so were the other soldiers, but only Kendra could hurt it for some reason." She starts punching the air to mime the fighting. "The monster started attacking Kendra, but she kept somersaulting and jumping out of the way. I don't think it ever hit her once! But there was an explosion among the soldiers and some of them turned to statues! They were the only ones I saw die, though. Everyone else got away, including me."
Around this time, Arulia finishes smelting the iron into ingots. She also hears the bell tolling outside, signaling that curfew will go into effect in one hour.

Re: CH. 11: The Show Must Go On
"I see. OK. So you probably should go with the dwarf to aid him. Maybe we can catch up tomorrow and see what to do next with Gregeddin. The best path seems to speak to Kendra. By the way Shima, where are Ferlan and Ne-Chaz? And you said your employer would give them information about the women who robbed us? When are you going to continue clearing the sewers?" Tulbas says leading his fellows to a niche farther from the main rush of people.

(OOC: Tulbas was carried away by his anger and passion. He did lower his voice, and if I'm not mistaken Shima did made a lot of effort to show he can be loyal. I do try to role-play suspicion towards Shima, and even a sentence ago I wrote something like Tulbas stares at the 'Dark' dwarf. 'Dark' also in the meaning that it is shrouded by uncertainty and therefore being suspected.)

Re: CH. 11: The Show Must Go On
"Well, frankly, the pair of them were lolling around not doing much while I took all the punishment. I suggested Felran pull his weight and he took umbrage saying that he'd got me the job in the first place. Which considering the pay was nil, just lots of beatings, I walked away to let them think about it. I was, in all honesty, worried about Greggorin. And whoever nicked all my well balanced weapons too, if I'm honest. And another beating like first one I took would have finished me off," replies Shima, picking some slime from his hair. "I'd happily them finish the job. Wouldn't really ask anything for it, just a bit of friendship. Well, maybe lunch too. But I really need to let some of my wounds heal a bit, or else I won't be breathing much longer."

Re: CH. 11: The Show Must Go On
Kendra tentatively holds on to Tethys at first, but her grip tightens as the dragon takes off for the noble district. "I don't know," she finally says. "But isn't flying in on a dragon kind of an overkill?" she asks. "Especially when you can fly yourself."
