Drav looks at the destruction/not-so-much destruction. He turns to Baeros, "What caused this? I must have missed that part of your talk.)

"I....have no idea," Jocelyn admits. "It probably isn't a good idea to be here at all, to be honest. Do you remember where anything was in this city, even if it is in ruins right now?"

A bright smile lights up Ouragana's face. "Then bring me small durable items that fit into the lantern. I can make them shine bright as daylight for you. Of course, you need a small box or other lightproof container to store them when you don't want bright lights to give off the Bullring's position." If Hofur finds her something, she will take that to a quiet corner and cast the spells, allowing Hofur to watch. "Here you go" she says, offering the two items to him. "I can make two of these a day." If he has given her more items, she will keep them for the next day unless he protests.

With a glance around for more aggressors, Naras rauns a bandage around her worst wound. {OOC: Healing (15), Herbalism (12 +2)}
"Glad you find me entertaining," she throws at the genasai.

She moves forwards to check out the two fallen, on the outside chance that she can save them. {OOC: I know you said they're dead, but would Naras necessarily be certain of that? Can Healing be used as a diagnostic for this? Check for a pulse or something?}

She starts to check out the two fallen, adding "So what's the book about then?"

If it's clear that the fallen are beyond help, she looks up at the genasai, "I'm just going to fix some of these cuts, shouldn't be any threat to you, so no lightning bolts or whatever, thank you."
While he genasai is (hopefully) talking, the kohen casts some spells on herself.

{OOC: On 16/39HP, so Cure Moderate Wounds, Cure Light Wounds, and after if she's at <27HP, she casts another Cure Moderate Wounds, or if 26<her HP<35 the she casts Cure Light Wounds as the 3rd spell.}

She looks up again at the blue fellow, and continues, "The slaadi popped back to where ever it came from - have you been bringing any of them here?"

If anything aggressive, i.e. foes, not a patrol etc, starts to show up, or the genasai disappears, the kohen tries a Dispel Magic on the Held Group.

Jocelyn Blaine (Deimos Harbor)
Brock looks around a bit, trying to get his bearings. "I remember a little, here and there. Just the basic outline of the city, not much else," he admits.

Ouragana Stormbride (Aboard the Bullring)
Hofur finds her two lanterns with shutters to cast the spell on. Once she is done, he closes the shutters so they aren't blinded by the bright light. "Thanks, I'll let the captain know. I'm sure she'll appreciate it." He has nothing further for her, though, reasoning they probably won't need more than two--one for aft, one for stern.

Gallath (Ruined City, Southwest)
Naishe and Gallath sprint away, but Penta attempts to pursue. Her heavy armor slows her down, though, making it difficult for her to catch up.

"Up here!" she calls, as they reach a tall, mostly intact building. However, all of the entrances have been boarded up, including the windows. Naishe doesn't go for them, though. Rather, she starts scaling the wall of the building itself, climbing up to the roof. Gallath quickly follows.

"Well, she can't follow us up here," Naishe says. "Maybe she'll get bored and go away. Probably not. At least we're safe for now."

(Gallath makes a Climb Walls check [TN 70%] (1d100): 15, pass.)

Naras Stonebreaker (Ruined City, Market Square)
Opening up her medkit, Naras does her best to bandage up her wounds. She then moves to the two dead sailors. Their chests have been sliced open, revealing the contents within and their lifeless eyes stare into eternity, but nevertheless, she checks each one for a pulse to be absolutely sure they are dead. They are.

The Son of Crizza does not seem worried when Naras does any casting. He had already claimed he doesn't consider her a threat at all. He also doesn't answer her questions. Instead she says, "Well, you won. But not without help. And you came very close to being killed in the process. But this is the point I am trying to make. That creature nearly killed you, but it was no threat to me. And if you can only just barely defeat it, you have no chance at all in thwarting my plans. So you needn't throw your life away, as well as the lives of others," he adds, gesturing to the dead sailors, "by trying."

With that, he begins chanting again and teleports away.

Naras quietly heals herself, then attempts to dispel the holding spell on the patrol. However, her power is nowhere near a match to the Son's, and it has no effect. There is nothing she can do but wait patiently for the spell to end on its own.

(Naras makes a healing check on herself [TN 15] (1d20): 4, pass. She restores (1d3): 1 HP to herself.
Naras casts Cure Moderate Wounds on herself, restoring (1d10+1): 8+1 = 9 HP. Naras is now seriously wounded.
Naras casts Cure Light Wounds on herself, restoring (1d8): 1 HP.
Naras casts Cure Light Wounds on herself, restoring (1d8): 1 HP.
Naras casts Dispel Magic on the patrol [TN 20] (1d20): 3, fail.)

Naras looks for some nearby earth to plunger her spear blade into so as to clean off any slaad gore. She thinks ~My sprllcasting could go better. Oh well, on the plus side, I'm alive to serve and so are 4 of the patrol.~
She says to the patrol, "Your fallen comrades were brave beyond doubt. It is precious little, but I should like to offer 10GP each towards the cost of their burial or whatever else they would wish for it."

She keeps a look out around he patrol for predators, and this to keep some sort of count for how long the spell lasts. ~Crude, but might give a measure of the caster's power,~ she thinks.

Agfter a few minutes, the dwarf addresses the patrol, "If I should meet with some sort of fatal accident before getting back to the harbour, please bear witness to what has passed here and make sure Pastor Blaine and her comrades are informed. That genasai is the one that seeks to bring to Narin what has happened to this place. Maybe other place too, later. I seek to stop him. Should any of you have any idea of the book he seeks, or any idea of anyone who would, I should be pleased to hear of it."

She waits out the spell, still counting, still guarding.

"Do you remember what is north of here?" Jocelyn asks. She seems to simply pick a random direction, which is north at this point, and slowly starts walking in that direction.

To Rumari comment Baeros just raises his brows and shrugs then he looks at Drav and answers, "Even before we docked in the harbor the city was on flames. When we got about this area the people of the city were fighting each other!" His face twitches as he remembers the gruesome fights between the citizens. "They were arguing among each other if the League should overthrow the current management of the city. Stupid people. They mainly brought the destruction upon themselves."

Breila, great ideas!!! both the Mending and the continual light! *Claps*. Think of both of them enhanced by the algorithm of the Canon...

Doesn't the dogs help with tracking humanoids survivors?

Satisfied and in high spirits, Ouragana returns to the cannon and once again immerses herslef in the arcane runes, hoping to get some "feel" for the enhancement process.

(OOC @BishGada: thanks for the compliments. I believe Ouragana is now finding a way ahead for herself. Magical philantrophy... sounds good, doesn't it?)

Jocelyn Blaine (Deimos Harbor)
"The marketsquare is to the north, I think," Brock says. "And the noble district is...west. Up on that hill," he says, pointing. Realizing she has already started walking, he hurries to catch up, his chain mail clinking heavily.

Ouragana Stormbride (Aboard the Bullring)
Ouragana returns to studying the cannon, specifically the metamagic equations on it. As she suspected, it may be possible to make spells from these that can be used to enhance other spells--increasing their duration, their range or their potency. The implications are staggering; there would be so many useful applications.

Gallath (Ruined City, Southwest)
"It was about a week ago," Naishe says. "I was just minding my own business, when she suddenly jumped me, calling me a demon. I managed to get away from her, and have kept ahead of her ever since. I really need to get out of the city, though. There are only so many places to hide. I'm tired of having to constantly look over my shoulder for her."

She looks around at the horizon, shielding her eyes from the sun. After a moment, she turns back toward him. "So, what do you think she meant when she said you were a demon, too?"

Baeros and Drav (Ruined City, Southeast)
"When people are afraid, they act irrationally," Rumari says. "They can do awful things in the name of protecting themselves and their families from threats, both real and only perceived. But these people didn't deserve this. And a lot of innocents got caught up in the middle of it all."

Takit and Hopper roam around, smelling everything. But they don't seem to catch the scents of any survivors in this area.

"Looks like this area is clear," says the elf. "Perhaps we should start heading back now."

Naras Stonebreaker (Ruined City, Market Square)
Judging from the position of the sun as it moves across the sky, Naras judges that it is about half an hour before the holding spell finally wears off on its own. Luckily, nothing further disturbs them during this time.

Once the sailors can move again, they begin stretching and working the kinks from their joints after having been standing still for so long. "Thank you for staying and defending us," Komal says. "Nobody would have blamed you if you had fled for your own life." She examines the two dead bodies, then gestures for the others to help her. She and the dwarf pick up one, and the other two sailors pick up the other. "Let's get them back to the cap'n. Maybe he can bring them back. Would you mind leading the way, Kohen?"

Naras nodded. Compliments took her into her uncomfortable zone, never really knowing how to respond to them, turning instead to the fallen pair. "I'm sorry I failed to save them. They were brave."

She straightened up, looking towards the harbour, "It would be my honour, Komal. If it doesn't offend you, I'm not a great one for titles, so you can call me Naras. I don't suppose you have any idea what book the genasai was on about?"

When the others are ready, the dwarf leads them back to the harbour, keeping a eye out for foes.

Ourgana makes careful notes of her findings. Since Thaddeus has told her the book that cursed her was now harmless, she uses that with a satisfied smile.
