Gallath spends 7 minutes looking over the chest carefully, but he can't find any traps on it. It would also appear that the chest is unlocked.
While he is busy doing this, Thaddeus continues tinkering with the orb. He makes some progress, as the orb suddenly begins speaking again in Eonian. When it's done, Thaddeus translates for the benefit of the others.
"I received another shipment from Zera the other day. She wanted me to identify them for her again, as usual. I'm busy with my own research, but...I suppose I just can't say no to her. To be honest, I probably needed the break. Kaakos has been getting on my nerves again about my two more recent guinea pigs. I know he's just being cautious, but I cannot afford to slow down now. My experiments on the oni and the trolls haven't produced anything useful yet. I need something with stronger regenerative properties to work on. Yes, I understand the danger involved. Although I imagine if things get out of hand, I could always turn one on the other and let the two of them battle it out. Hopefully it won't come to that.
"Anyway...back to today's task. The results were interesting. The bracers are useless. They increase magical healing, which doesn't help me or Zera any, as neither of us are clerics. But she could probably make a good deal selling them to one of the churches. Hmm, maybe I can talk her into using them to bribe a cleric to help me make more Helmed Horrors. They have proven loyal and useful so far, even better than my hellhounds.
"The sword is ancient and obviously Elven in origin. I can only imagine where my dear Zera looted it from. It holds the 'flame tongue' enchantment, which might make it useful if the trolls start to act up again. Not that I know how to use a sword, but perhaps I can give it to one of my horrors. I'm not sure they're smart enough to know how to activate it, though.
"The cloak was the most interesting to me. It imparts a form of controlled lycanthropy on the wearer, allowing them to transform into a wolf. I've experimented a little with lycanthropes, as they have regenerative powers, as well. Unfortunately, they cannot regrow back limbs. Furthermore, the cloak does not seem to bestow regeneration either, unlike true lycanthopy..."
The voice cuts out here. "Hmm, that was the most recent entry. I'm not sure how to access anything earlier than that," Thaddeus says.

Gallath makes a Find Trap check [TN 50] on the chest (1d100): Result secret. He finds no traps.
