The Heart of Darkness... [Main Game Thread]

The (Original!) Tomb of Horrors!!!
S1 by the great Gygax 1978. Everything adapted to 2e. This is NOT the Return to ToH written for 2e

Labyrinth of Madness!!! Previously Concluded (by TPK)
S6 by Monte Cook from 1995. Designed for 2e. IMHO this one is the tougher of the two, but not by much.

Once he knows everyone else is down. Van will motion for Sorril to go, and he will be last.

"We got enough room for everyone to land?"

Bryce and Tabbi stand at floor level in the new hall, while the others wait in the passage above. The ladder is soon put in place, and Bryce's visual examination of the walls, floor and ceiling nearby reveal nothing unusual. The depictions on the wall are all frescoes, so the plaster covers any stone that might lie beneath. The floor and ceiling are of stone, just as the first grand hall back at the entrance to the tomb.

Van will usher the rest of the group down the ladder, with one last suspicious look at the Gargoyle, and a small shudder runs down his back.

Those entering the hall get a good look at the frescoes of various painted figures holding the colored circles (see earlier post from Aug 30). The hall continues out of sight into the darkness in one direction (beyond the edge of infravision) and ends in a wall just a few feet from where the party emerged.

"So... pressing colors again? Just remember to avoid green and embrace darkness..." Galan says cheerfully and gestures to the scouts to take lead.

At the mention of light, Faldair emerges from the illusory circle with his lit hooded lantern. Someone need a guiding light? the cleric quips.

Once down Van will slide his ladder back into the bag of holding, then light his lantern, and remove the hood.

[the circles represent the different colored circles in the wall frescoes. They are flat, 2-dimensional areas on the wall. ]

When the party is all in the room. Tabbi will start to poke around with the 10 foot pole. "Bryce, will you help me poke around hear?"
Tabbi will move to the middle of the hallway and start moving forward with Bryce tapping the floor with the pole.

"Does anyone have a lantern?"

OCC: Tristen how does infravision work? Is it as good as normal light for investigating and noticing things?

[for this game i treat it basically like black-and-white, but with the same definition as normal vision. Infravision won't function while within a light area, and looking at a light source spoils it until the light is gone. It is automatic in the dark, and cannot be 'turned on' or off.]

Faldair raises his lit lantern to aid Tabbi when she asks for light. Tabbi begins tapping but finds nothing in the first 10 feet on her side of the hall.

OOC - Posting from the break room at work so it'll be brief.
-----------------

Bryce will accompany Tabbi in checking the hall, taking the remaining side of the hall. If a pole is available to him, he will use it.

Bryce and Tabbi begin their familiar method of checking the hall, tapping the floors and walls and examining them as well. The hall proves long indeed and new frescoes of animal-men and monsters come into view as they proceed, many bearing colored spheres at different heights. Two plain-looking doors stand to the left side of the hall as well. Eventually they come to where they can see the end of the hall, which terminates in a large archway, similar to the one in the first grand hall..
