Stik, can I suggest a fast forward to the village?
We are all a bit shocked right Now! We'll take Daos's body and see he is at least given a suitable send off, he deserves that much.

Sorry all - I am going to have to bow out of this game. As you know, I have been posting less and less and probably holding the game up a little ... good luck with those funny looking elves.

Sorry to see you go, Tim. Keep in touch, and if you want back in, we'll drop Kutz in again, like last time.

Yeah, shame, I looked forward to interacting with Kutz, Angel is quite different to Larrise.

You know what I like about this post? It shows that Ish and I speak the same language.
Yes, the area around the village wall indeed is clear cut - nothing but grass for 100 yards outside the wall, and nothing large for another 100 yards past that - to avoid giving attackers any cover and to allow defenders to see, and/or have a clean shot at, anyone approaching.

Stik wrote:The town is built in the style of an imperial fort, and its rectangular layout, so familiar to anyone with legion experience, looks as if it has been dropped into place as a unit without consideration for the local topography. Instead, the land has been cut and filled to suit. A ditch surrounds the town, and the walls are built atop an earthen rampart. There are four gates, one at each point of the compass, and the surrounding land has been cleared for a distance of about one hundred yards. The wall is stone, to a height of about fifteen feet, with square towers at the corners and flanking each gate.
The remnants of a structure just like that are less than a day's walk - or a twenty-minute-drive - from my home. In the opposite direction, just as close, are remains of medieval castles... All these are home to reenactor groups. I would love to show all of this to you some day...
