Re: CH. 17: Poison Curse
Aware of the danger soon to come from the archers, Bearos tries to move towards them while engaging the sailor. He tries to knock her out too, if his first sword will miss he will use the other.

Re: CH. 17: Poison Curse
Jocelyn turns the corner of the page, and holds it out for Gallath to take. "Lock the drawer back up," she says.

Re: CH. 17: Poison Curse
Gallath takes the book. "I'll take this to Sable. We'll get you out of here soon. I'll let Baeros know that you're okay. He's been worried." Gallath relocks the drawer.

Re: CH. 17: Poison Curse
Jocelyn and Gallath (Poison Curse, Captain's Cabin/Sardonx 16th, 8:30 AM)
Jocelyn watches as the door opens again, then closes on its own and re-locks itself. He looks around the deck and sees that nobody has noticed. Everyone appears rather focused on the battle with the other ship, so that has worked out in his favor.
He spots Scourge and Sable on the forecastle, overseeing the battle and keeping an eye on things.
Ouragana, Baeros and Drav (Poison Curse, Upper deck/Sardonx 16th, 8:30 AM)
Baeros strikes at the other marine, hitting her pretty hard. But not hard enough to take her down. She counters with her cutlass, but he easily evades. "This guy is a monster! Take him down before he reaches the captain!" the woman cries.
The two crossbowmen fire at Baeros again. But one shot misses entirely. The other one hits him in the shoulder, but his armor stops it from going too deep. It still stings, however.

Initiative
Ouragana (N/A)
Baeros (1d10+5): 2+5 = 7
Marine 03 (1d10+5): 5+7 = 12
Marine 04 (1d10+5): 10+5 = 15
Marine 05 (1d10+5): 4+7 = 11
Round 4!
Baeros swings his primary long sword at Marine 04 with great skill (+1 hit/+2 dmg) and strength (+1 hit/dmg) using the flat of his blade (-4 hit) and holding back (-3 dmg) [TN 7] (1d20-2): 15-2 = 13, hit for (1d8): 7 damage. She is nearly down. He then swings his secondary long sword at Marine 04 with great skill (+1 hit/+2 dmg) and strength (+1 hit/dmg) using the flat of his blade (-4 hit) and holding back (-3 dmg) [TN 7] (1d20-2): 4-2 = 2, miss.
Marine 05 fires his light crossbow at Baeros in his studded leather armor (-1 hit) [TN 13] (1d20-1): 19-1 = 18, hit for (1d6): 1 damage.
Marine 03 fires his light crossbow at Baeros in his studded leather armor (-1 hit) [TN 13] (1d20-1): 4-1 = 3, miss.
Marine 04 swings her cutlass at Baeros in his studded leather armor (-2 hit) [TN 13] (1d20-2): 6-2 = 4, miss.
(OOC: I was waiting for Breila, but Three Day Rule, so here we go.
Actions for Round 5?)
Val and Naras (Undine Community/Sardonx 24th, 5:00 PM)
About twenty four hours later, the two wake up again in the undine air cave. After preparing her new spells for the day, Naras says her goodbyes to the undine. She and Val mount Mist and ride her back up to the surface. From there, they start to head toward the island of Vaneil, where the port town of Narin awaits.
It will take a couple of weeks to reach there on whaleback, so they set in for a long journey. A week passes without incident. During this time, both are eventually restored to full health. Between the two of them, they have one day's worth of rations for one person and enough water to last both of them one day. Clearly, they were not prepared for this. They manage to survive each night by having Naras create food and water out of thin air. They are made to sleep on the beach each night, sharing Naras' meager blanket for warmth.
The evening of the seventh day, they decide to take stop on a small, uninhabited island along the way for a rest. Neither know the name of this island, but it appears to have a dormant volcano on it, surrounded by jungle. It should be safe enough to rest up on the beach until they continue their journey the next day.
(OOC: Need a spell list from Naras, and obviously at least one slot should be devoted to Create Food and Water.)

Re: CH. 17: Poison Curse
Ouragana sneaks towards the unguarded door, trying to make up if she really wants to enter it or if it's just a diversion to have an excuse for not fighting, being able to say "well, I tried to find something" once the fight is over.
There's more to me than meets the eye...
Re: CH. 17: Poison Curse
Naras looks around, in particular for any tracks on the beach.
If nothing she shrugs, gflances at Val and then heads for the cave, stopping to listen at its entrance.

Gallath surveys the battle. Where was Naishe, and did any of his friends look like they were in trouble?

Re: CH. 17: Poison Curse
Ouragana, Baeros and Drav (Merchant Ship, Upper deck/Sardonx 16th, 8:30 AM)
Ouragana makes her way to the door, avoiding the chaotic melee in the process. She steps over the body of a fallen marine, just as a stray quarrel flies right in front of her nose, missing it by scant centimeters. She bounds forward a few steps, but a pirate fighting a marine bumps into her, knocking her to the ground. She manages to scurry forward, underneath the legs of a half-ogre, then get back up on her feet and reach the door. Turning the knob, she opens it and slips inside, closing it behind her. There's a loud 'thump' as someone or something hits the door a moment later.
Inside, things are calmer and a little quieter. She can still hear the din of battle through the door, however. She finds herself on a descending stairway. It takes her into a hallway. There are two doors on each side, and a fifth door at the end of the hall. The doors are all closed.
Gallath (Poison Curse, Upper Deck/Sardonx 16th, 8:30 AM)
Gallath looks out at the battle raging over on the merchant ship. He spots Baeros, Drav, Naishe and Brock fighting off the defenders. They have all been separated from each other, but none of them look to be in any real danger. The marines are simply no match for any of them.
Val and Naras (Unnamed Island/Sardonx 24th, 5:00 PM)
While Val sets up a campsite, Naras looks over the beach. She does spot some tracks in the drier sand, but they are not of any animal she knows of. They are also ridiculously huge and reptilian. Dragon? But no, the answer provides itself soon enough. There's a distant roar in the jungle that is surrounding the dormant volcano at the center of the island. The ground rumbles and trees are knocked over as something immense emerges from the foliage, a mere hundred feet from the duo's camp.
The creature that emerges is at least 30 feet tall with eight snaking heads and red, scaled skin. The writhing eight heads suddenly come to a stop and all turn their attention to the two on the beach, hissing like angry vipers.

"Oh crap." Val says. "Run?" she asks
Re: CH. 17: Poison Curse
"Yes. Run." she replies, pegging it. "Gonto, a pryrohydra? Really? You have to be kidding me."

Re: CH. 17: Poison Curse
Ouragana takes a deep breath, happy to be out of danger to be slain for the moment. She thenwlks to the first door on the left and presses her ear against it. she plugs the other ear with her finger to shut out the outside noise.

Re: CH. 17: Poison Curse
Baeros tries again to knock off the woman and close the distance to the archers. Aware she is already hurt he will be careful not to break her skull.
Re: CH. 17: Poison Curse
Val turns toward the sea and runs, whistling to Mist as she does so...
