"Gernot, come back, they'll kill us all if we don't surrender!" the last of the young men shouts, his voice fearful, dropping his warhammer and lifting his hands over his head. Gernot tries to retreat from Dale's attack, moving backwards but still ready to defend himself. The old man gives an angry cry and walks out of the building towards the calling young man, as fast as he can with his walking stick. (This gives Eloise and Thelma an opening. They need a successsful to hit roll to get the bucket over his head, however.)
Everyone is starteled when the arrows that have been lying on the ground suddenly disappear. Looking up, they see the same happened to the archers.
Do Dale and Matthias pursue their attacks on the retreating Gernot? Does Saul finish off his attacker?

Breaking from cover Eloise pouches from behind the old man, the bucket up turned as she brings it down on his head.

Matthias stays his hand once his foe retreats, looking to the more martial members of the group for a cue as to appropriate action.

((Saul is going to strike his foe's weapon hand assuming that they are still grasping the weapon. If they've dropped said weapon, he would like to attack, but deal only a single damage in an attempt to subdue the young man.))

We have the upper hand now, but if this situation goes on for very long, the impetus will be lost, and the balance may shift toward the defenders. Time to force the issue.
Christopher takes a few quick steps toward Gernot with his sword raised to swing, roaring as he does so.
If that causes Gernot to drop his weapon, all is well. If not, rather than striking with his sword, Christopher will ram into Gernot with his shield, attempting to knock him down.
[OOC] Breila - I don't know how you'll want to resolve this, and I don't have any books here with me to look up a suitable mechanic.
I rolled a standard initiative and attack roll and treated the shield as a club. Does that work?[/OOC]

Dale honestly believes the arrows were real, and the fact that they vanish is a surprise to him! However, he keeps pace and stays with Saul as a combat partner for movement.

Christophers advance on Gernot visibly scares the man. He throws his axe away and drops to his knees. "Spare me!" he pleads, his hands clasped and raised, face turned to the the young knave in a gesture of supplication. The (as yet unnamed) fourth man does the same.
The old man had advanced on his young companions, screaming with rage, but the two girls had been lying in ambush just for a move like this. Eloise puts a bucket over his head and Thelma grabs him. with surprosing agility, the onld man wrenches out of her grip and his elbow lands in her midriff, causing her to double over and gasp for breath.
Slowly, almost casually, Saul brings down his staff on his fallen foe's hand still clutching the hammer and grinds down, causing the man to howl in pain and scream "I surrender, I surrender!"
An enlarging puddle of blood forms under the fourth young man, cut down by Christiopher.
The only foe still standing and fighting is the old man, Eloise has a hard time clutching to the bucket over his head, he's likely to throw her off any moment.

"Do... Do you want them to hurt you? Stop now, and we won't hurt you, we just want to find the Girl." Eloise says, trying to keep a hold of him, thinking quickly she swings her left leg round, trying to trip him up.

Saul kicks away the hammer, wincing with pain as the motion twists the expanding bruise on his midriff. He looks to Dale and says, "Are you able to bind him? I'm going to check on the fallen youth." Lifting the end of his walking stick away from his assailants hand, he slowly walks to the youth that Christopher cut down. He rolls the man over to examine his wounds, trying to determine if he can be spared. "Son, if you wish to repent, now is the time to do it."

The young man is deeply unconscious and bleeding heavily. Without divine help, he's very likely to die, because Chritsopher's blow cut deeply into his shoulders, breaking bones andcutting everything in the way. Even if the bleeding could be stopped by mundane means, and the resulting infections overcome by his immune system, he'd be crippled for life.

Dale nods his head. "I can tie him up." He moves to secure the prisoner with available rope. Looking around, Dale tries to locate the others by sight.

As Dale is tying up the man, he hears shouts and screams close by. Looking up, he sees the old man struggling. He has a bucket over his head which he tries to lift up with just one hand, the other on his walking stick because he tries to move forward. Both movements are greatly hapered by the fact thet Eloise is clinging to the bucket for dear life and dragged forward. Her attempt to trip Gisbert only resulted in her losing her footing. Thelma is on the ground gsping for breath. The two young men have surrendered to Christopher in a gesture of supplication. Saul is examining the badly wounded foe.

"Oh just.." Eloise shouts, still holding onto the bucket for dear life. "No you don't." Kicking at his walking stick she goes to bring him down again.
