Just so you all know, the people you meet aren't always going to be NPC (#). In fact, the most often met one will be very much so different.

This is not Generic Party #301,928. This is a cast of unique players and I will do whatever it takes to keep this game from becoming "just another adventure."

The cutlass is a short, heavy sword, sharp along only one edge, with a heavy basket hilt (a protective cup) around the hilt to protect the hand. The cutlass' basket hilt provides the following benefits: it gives the wielder a +1 to parrying and can be used to punch someone like an iron gauntlet (1d3 damage, plus STR or punching bonuses).

And yeah, you attack once per round, unless you are a fighter who specializes in it.

Speaking of which, in the Complete Book of Humanoids, it lists a special weapon for Aarakocra called the flight lance. I wanted to submit it for approval.

This lance has a 10 foot long shaft of tough wood with a sharp stone head and fletched ends. It is used by flying humanoids as a shock or impact weapon. The flight lance is hurled at the end of a swooping attack and can impale the target.

As the name implies, it's basically a lance you use in flight. The main danger in it is the momentum's extra damage when you swoop down and then throw it with the full force of gravity behind you. If used in this way, it does double damage if hit.
