Well, something to think about once the party clears the Silvanesti forest.
Re: OOC Chat II
I certainly will do. And thanks for the reminder.

Re: OOC Chat II
I like Babushka very much, she is most like me of all the characters here on the planet. And I love the interaction with Locky and Jerrard.
And I really must praise your dedication to the game and the work you put into it. If I had a feathered hat to take off and wave before you, I would do so right now.

Re: OOC Chat II
I'm almost done working on the next adventure. I figure I'll have the XP for the latest chapter, the summary and my notes up by tomorrow sometime. I'll probably have the new chapter up, entitled "Reunion" after the weekend.
Re: OOC Chat II
I'm back from my holidays and looking very much forward to it!

Re: OOC Chat II
Alright, so XP is up. Babushka didn’t get much, on account that she sat this adventure out. Ulster and Thuskar got nothing at all for the same reason.
Jerrard leveled up, though. He should roll 1d4 and post it here for his new HP total.
Here are my thoughts.
The odd dream Locky had was meant to be prophetic. ‘Things aren’t how they appear.’ This was a reference to the Dimernesti attacking ships (not out of greed, but because they were being forced to), as well as to Malika not being as innocent as the party believed. The fact that Locky has claimed in the past she never dreams should make this one pretty noteworthy.
As I said before, I’m going to remove Temeral from the group for the next chapter. When the Dimernesti offered to take the party wherever they wanted, he will decide to go elsewhere instead of accompanying the others to Silvanesti.
The dance party on the ship offered some interesting roleplay moments, namely with Jerrard/Malika, Babushka/Locky and Imani/Ulster. Ironically, all three of these pairings would be split up for a long while once the party went underwater.
It was almost ironic how much the party relied on Invisibility. The spell description states that any creature with sufficient intelligence or hit dice (and the dragon had both) could see invisible creatures with a simple saving throw. Luckily, though, it never came up.
Not including Chronicles, this is the second time I’ve used a dragon in a game as an enemy (in one of my older games, the party fought a shadow dragon in mid-flight, with the use of Potions of Flying and the Fly spell. It was pretty cool). Consequently, though, I forgot entirely about its dragonfear until I was almost done writing out the first round’s post. In fact, two of the level 0 Dimernesti scored critical hits on the dragon, and it likely would have died in the first round as a result. I thought it would be pretty anti-climactic, but then I remembered the dragonfear and had to go back and revise the post heavily, having the level 0 Dimernesti flee automatically.
The dragon was worth 7,000 XP. Which means everyone would have received 1,750 XP had they faced it without help. But the Dimernesti pitched in, so that spread it out further. I didn’t count the 12 elves that fled, or Breegan as he fell in battle. So there were 10 people total, which means everyone only got 700 XP instead. Still, not too bad.
How much treasure the party acquired was based on how much damage they did (as opposed to the Dimernesti) and how many Dimernesti died in the fight. The dragon had 60 HP. The party only did around 20 damage, or a third—the Dimernesti did the rest. So the party only got a third of the hoard (still quite a bit, though). Because there was not a single fatality, they also got the armors, potions, wand and were allowed to keep the rings, too.
I went ahead and doubled roleplaying XP. In my normal games, I usually do that when the party reaches the second arc. There are no arcs in this game, but the party is about the right level for it, if there were.
As always, feedback is welcome.

Re: OOC Chat II
Woo Hoo! 1d4=4 HP!
Now of course he needs to learn some 3rd level spells!
Spells:
1st level: Magic Missile, Sleep, Armor, Detect Magic, Magic Missile, Detect Magic, Jump
2nd level: Web, Invisibility, Mirror Image, Cont Light, Web
3rd level........
As for the game, well the Dragon was a B&^&h Imani did really well to kill it!!
I was sad the group had to split up, it had to happen but still a shame, and Malika, well that was proof that nothing is quite what it seems, the mage let himself be lead by something other than his brain and paid the price, still, lets she what happens there.
And can I make it clear that Jerrard is not, and will not be hitting on Imani? He's just a caring guy, thats all.
I am looking forward to seeing what happens, and how we all meet up again.

Re: OOC Chat II
Locky just cant wait to find the others, and get her pouches back, of course she has a bit of rock she found under the sea to put in it, and perhaps a dragon scale??
Fighting the dragon was interesting for her, she didnt do that much, after all she wanted to make sure everyone was healed.
She and I are just glad she lived and the children were free..

Re: OOC Chat II
Jerrard now has 29 HP total.
I've made some arrangements so there will be a handful of third level spells he can buy in Silvanesti. He certainly has the coin for it now. He will find a wider selection in Shrentak, naturally.
I added a small dragon scale and some seashells to Locky's inventory.
Speaking of inventories, any gear that the party left in the ship's hold will be transferred to the inn room where Babushka and the others are staying. Also, those of you who went on the dragon quest are now loaded down with treasure (1,000 steel pieces weigh 20 pounds; not to mention the magic armors). So after the reunion, the party may want to think about shifting around their inventories some.
Locky's role in the dragon battle was minor, but still important. The Protection from Evil spell she used on Imani was what allowed the Khurish princess to make her save against dragonfear (she would have just barely failed otherwise). Had she failed, Imani would have suffered a -2 to hit and damage rolls, so that made all the difference.

Yay!
And yes, of course the spell helped, I will keep her spells as they are for now, with the addition of detect magic for the expense of a healing spell.

Re: OOC Chat II
agamotto has joined this group and is currently working on a character. Everyone say hi to him.
Here's the story so far. The party had just fled the nation of Khur (desert kingdom, Arabian flavor) and along the way ran into some sea elves and had a little adventure underwater with a sea dragon. They are now in a mostly abandoned town in Silvanesti.
Silvanesti is an elven nation that is ruled by grey elves. Really snooty and prejudice types. Anyway, a few years back, their nation, a beautiful and expansive forest, fell under a curse known as the 'nightmare.' The curse is mostly gone now, but not entirely. The party needs to find a way to cross Silvanesti safely.
Unless your character will be a grey elf, then he's likely a traveler, too. We'll need to come up with a reason for him to be in an elven nation.
He's already rolled, and I'm going to post the rolls here for reference (so I don't need to dig through my inbox to find them again, if I need them).
