(occ: Perhaps it would be best if the combat was resolved that way. Would you mind doing all the rolls jaded? Don't want every one else getting bored!)

(OOC: I could do that, if that's what everyone wants. But remember, I did say outright that watching the trials would be boring for everyone but Erastin!)

(Ooc: I'd rather play it out! Lol. After all 3 in 20 beats 2 in 20 any day!)

And Targin misses the chance to root for Erastin, but, as you say, odds are he will win the melee.

"Get him boy, remember, parry and counter." He shouts loud enough to be heard.

OCC - and what kind of mentor would I be to abandon him in his time of trials.

(And here we go again!)

"My name is Erastlin Rivenguard." The would be Knight swings his blade once more, attempting to catch him off guard. "You are?" He asks as his sword narrowly misses.

"Ah, Rivenguard. You're the one who saved my uncle's life from that assassin. I am Geffin uth Wistan, a pleasure to meet you," the lad says. Erastin could hardly believe it. He was dueling the nephew of the Grand Master of the Knighthood!

Neither dueler could seem to penetrate the defense of the other, as they seemed about evenly matched in skill. McKennen took an interest in this duel, walking nearer to watch. A number of students who had finished their duels began watching with interest, too, whispering to themselves.

Erastlin tries his best not to react, but the surprise is too much, nearly dropping his blade he feints to the left. "You too, in another circumstances I'd shake your hand." He grins, hoping no one noticed his suprise, "And I was doing my duty as a Knight." Erastlin answers modestly.

1d10=4, 1d20+1=5, 1d6+1=2

"You are not quite a knight yet," Geffin counters with a subtle grin. "But you are making good progress, I must admit." He strikes out, but Erastin is able to block the blow with his own weapon. Although it has only been a few minutes, it feels as if this battle has drawn out for hours. Having to do several hours of calisthenics in armor didn't help, but it seems like Geffin is equally effected.

(Dammit)

"I read that a True Knight must first believe in his heart." Erastlin counters, "But thank you." He swings once more, the exertion obviously affecting him as well.

Geffin blocks Erastin's attack, and Erastin blocks, as well. Glancing over Erastin's shoulder, to the odd grouping of the half-elf, thief, minotaur and dwarf, Geffin comments, "You have unusual supporters cheering you on."

"They are my friends, Galenye I have known for years. Targin is my Mentor." He offers a salute in praise of the closeness of the last attack, swinging his blade once more the exertion of the day hitting him now.

The pair continue to block each others attacks, neither getting the upper-hand. "It is interesting that you command the respect and admiration of such a group. But I hope they do not interfere with your dedication to the Knighthood," Geffin says.

(Dice already rolled, another miss)

"They do nothing but aid me, their support is a great help." He swings again, narrowly missing once more.

"We appear to be evenly matched." He comments with a Grin.

"That is good, although they could also prove to be a powerful distraction down the line. Hopefully that never happens," Geffin says, blocking another attack. "Surely you are not tiring out already?" he asks in response to the second comment.

"Certainly not!" Erastlin exclaims in surprise, swinging his blade with ease, hitting Geffins armor once more. 1d10=4, 1d20+1=13, 1d6+1=7

"They know my first duty is to the Knighthood, always will be."
