Re: Day Five
Barlemus grins. "If you know you can, then do it!" he teases. He feints at her a couple of times to keep her on her toes.

Re: Day Five
Tavi takes on a more determined look especially once Barlemus starts teasing her. Her sword clashes against his once again, but his time it is actually knocked from his hands. This causes her to smile lightly as the sword goes flying ten feet behind him and to his left. "See, I told you I could do it," she says before sticking her tongue out at him.

Re: Day Five
"Good job," Barlemus says. "You're a fast learner." He goes to retrieve his sword. "Faster than I was, anyway."

Octavia has learned how to disarm a one-handed weapon. Make an attack roll against their AC with a -4 penalty. If successful, the number of feet the weapon flies is determined by 2d6 and the direction it goes is determined by 1d6. A roll of 1 means it goes straight ahead, 2 means ahead to the right, 3 means behind to the right, 4 means straight behind, 5 means behind and to the left, and 6 means behind and to the right.

Re: Day Five
"How long did it take you to learn?" Tavi asks curiously. "You aren't much older than me, so it couldn't have taken you that long."
Re: Day Five
"Ummm...longer. Longer than three tries, anyway," Barlemus says. He looks over Tavi's shoulder and frowns suddenly. When she turns to see what he is looking at, she sees Arvin approaching, a smug smirk on his face.
"Somehow that doesn't surprise me," he says.

Re: Day Five
"I hear you two were having some...issues while I was asleep," Tavi says, looking between the two of them. "What were you two fighting about this time around?"
Re: Day Five
"Nuthin'," Barlemus says. "Gonna go wash up." He gathers his things and heads down to the shore of the lake.
Arvin crosses his arms and shakes his head. Turning to Tavi, he says, "How was your 'training?'"

Re: Day Five
Tavi watches as Barlemus walks off. She frowns slightly, unsure as to what exactly was going on before she turns her attention back to Arvin. "It was useful stuff to know," she says cheerfully. "How was your...um alone time up in that tree? Petal mentioned something about you being frustrated, so I didn't want to bother you."
Re: Day Five
"I was just scouting the area," Arvin says. "Making sure nothing was sneaking up on us. Petal worries too much." He looks off at the horizon again. "How is your wound?"

Re: Day Five
"It's feeling much better thanks to Petal," Tavi admits. "It is natural for Petal to worry about you I think as you are her friend. She just cares for your well being and safety," Tavi says with a small shrug. To her, it seemed like common sense that friends cared about one another. "When I was talking to her earlier, she said that she thought you secretly like being around Barlemus and me."
Re: Day Five
Arvin's face turns red and he trembles a bit, but only for a moment before he gets a reign on his feelings. "Petal should not speak about things she understands nothing about," he says with a sharpness to his voice. "I am only helping you with this matter because of the danger the White Terror poses. That's all."

Re: Day Five
"Awww, you don't like me just a tiny bit?" Tavi asks. Grabbing Arvin's hand, Tavi leads him down a little further from where Barlemus and she were practicing. "You don't have to admit to that, but you can teach me a few things about ranged weapons," she says. "If that is okay with you?" she ask cautiously as she lets go of his hand.
Re: Day Five
Arvin allows himself to be led. Once they stop, he pulls his hand away from her. "I suppose I should, if for nothing else than to balance out whatever bad knowledge that oaf put in your head." He turns away, although Tavi could swear she saw a hint of a smile on his face just before he turned.
He turns back to her. "Your crossbow is different from my long bow, but I can teach you a few general principles of shooting. What would you like to know?" he asks.

Tavi gets a +1 reaction to Arvin.

Re: Day Five
"Well, Barlemus taught me how to disarm someone and how to throw them off balance," Tavi explains. "I don't think I can do those things with a crossbow." Of course, Tavi was also trained more with her long sword than she was with the crossbow. That is what she concentrated on more at least. "What kind of useful tricks are there?"
Re: Day Five
"Actually, it's perfectly possible to disarm someone with a bow, or crossbow in your case," Arvin says. "But only on one-handed weapons, and only if you have a clear shot at their hand. How is your aim?"
