Jerrard moves slowly, the spell in his mind, he tries to fight the fear that rises up in his body, he hadnt even seen the creature and he was scared already. Babuskha's touch was welcoming, it helped.
1d20=11+1 = 12, wow close
Fighting the fear he targets the spell to where Babuskha directs, sticky streams of webbing hopefully hit the creature.

The funghemoth munches loudly on the rotten fish. When Ulster and Jerrard come around the corner, it notices the light of the torch. But before it can process this information and act, it's too late. Jerrard cannot even see the creature, but he has an idea of its general location and it's pretty big. He casts his spell, and judging from the roaring the creature gives, he must have succeeded.
Outraged, the creature tries to break free. Although nobody can see it, it changes color from purple to green. It struggles further, then with a might belch, breathes a large cone of flame. The cone does not reach far enough to touch the party, although it illuminates the entire cavern momentarily and they feel the intense heat of the blast. The webbing is all burned away, although the creature's own flames scorch its flesh badly as a result.
The creature is now free, albeit completely by accident.

Babushka moves toward the men, then walks back with Jerrard.
Locky sneaks away from the funghemoth.
Jerrard makes his fear save (12) and casts Web.
Ulster is stuck holding the torch, so does nothing.
Funghemoth's saving throw (1d20-2): 12, fail. The funghemoth is trapped in the webbing, but due to its large size, it will be able to break free in half the normal time.
Funghemoth attempts to break free. It becomes agitated and causes a random effect. (1d6): 4, color change.

Jerrard gives Babuskha a worried look, then reaches for the scroll at his belt. He didn't know exactly where the creature was, but the Fireball "Should" cover such an area that it wouldn't matter. His hands fumble for it, nearly dropping it with fear he summons his courage, before he reads the words
"Do not approach the creature, cover your eyes when the blast happens. I suggest you do not use your dark vision when it happens." Then he starts to read.
"Urgisthaf, maginanito..." (etc)
Hopefully a ball of fire appears in his hand, which he throws at the back wall, trying to hit the creature.
(ooc: sorry its taken me a while to respond, I shall leave the spell failure roll to you.)

As soon as Jerrard is done casting, the scroll disintegrates into dust. A massive ball of flame erupts against the wall, engulfing the funghemoth entirely and lighting up the entire cavern as if it were daylight. The creature shrieks in agony as its flesh is consumed by the unrelenting flames. A horrible stench fills the cavern. The funghemoth ceases movement as it starts to burn away into nothing more than ash.
Soon, all is quiet.
"Well, that was easier than you all made it out to be," Ulster quips.

There appears to be no way to cross the river in this cavern without swimming across.

Babushka approaches the river, too. How wide and deep is it, how strong the current?

The river is about ten feet wide and extends down a large tunnel to the east. Aside from crossing the river, the party could also just walk along side it. The river does not fill the entire tunnel, there is room on both sides of the river to walk on dry land.
The river appears to be about five feet deep or so, and the current is moderately strong, but not fiercely so.

Locky (still invisible) looks down the river outside of the torches light.
Does the path look safe? Granted she doesn't care herself, it looks fun, but the others might want to stay upright..
