My grandfather was a cook in the British army. Travelled the world. There is no shame in being a baker! Hell kasey rybeck was a cook.

oh frivolous you should read the forever war. Same idea to starship troopers, but the flip side of the coin
The Forever War by Joe Haldeman? I have a copy beside my bed and read it regularly. :)

So far my character details are in an Excel file, so I can apportion costs and weights and add them all up.

Thank you Jenara.

FYI all - new info posted in Campaign Background thread - Background on the Merc's Guild.

One more thing:
I have heard from three different people that they've been having difficulty at times accessing this site during the past week, and I have been having intermittent problems myself. I have reached out to Cole to advise him of the problem. Hopefully it's just something simple, like heavy traffic at the hosting site or somebody kicking the plug on the router.

Just in case the problem persists, or worsens and this site crashes, I suggest we all establish an alternate means of communicating. It's a bummer losing touch with a good group of people because a site has crashed.

I post under this same ID (Stik) at dragonsfoot.org and at kingdomofmass.com, so I can be reached there. I can also be reached via email (send me a PM if you need my email address). If we hit a snag here, please contact me so we can regroup until the problem is corrected.

Stik, what are your rules about spell components? Do you require comprehensive lists or do we assume that we have most spell components that don't have an actual cost?

I am willing to go either way.

I've reached out to Cole too. I'm sure its just heavy traffic. This site is still in the design phase!

We can also use the main site www.padnd.com

Main's been down on occasion, too, for me.

So may I have an Icelandic horse that has short stocky legs and are as stout as the rocks they climb. Reminds me of a less agile mountain goat.

Sorry, I missed this post until now.

As far as spell components are concerned, if a spell has components, your PC needs to have them. I am not going to make a big deal about the small stuff, but some spells have exotic or expensive components which are meant to make the spells difficult or expensive to cast, so as to maintain game balance.

As for prices, the really simple stuff (a bit of spider web, pebbles, etc) can be had easily enough at no cost. All you need to do is tell me you are gathering it.
Some things are common, but need to be bought or made, and I will provide prices for these items.
Some things are really complicated, exotic or expensive. If you want something like that, you'll definitely have to roleplay obtaining it.

Player/PC list, as it stands now, is as follows:

Jenara - "Angel" - Half-elf Fighter
Bryant - Brusen - Dwarf Fighter
Frivolous - "Papa" - Human Cleric of Cronus
Ismaels Legacy - Batian, Human Cleric if Liquitus

I am still waiting for characters from Patonius, who will be playing a Human Mage/Thief and Tempest, who will be playing an Elf Ranger. I heard from Patonius over the weekend. Tempest is M.I.A.

Wumbo is without a computer right now. He may or may not be joining us later on.

If anyone has any questions regarding character generation, please get them to me today, otherwise they will have to wait until after 8/15. We will get started shortly after that date.

Ok, Cole has resynchronized the site and cleared a few things. Let me know if anyone has further problems.
As sort of unofficial admin around here you can let me know about that post of thing and I'll see what i can do!

I'm back in the real world on Sunday, so i can pick up the slack for stik. I'll be posting blank character sheets for download (if you want to use them, they are quite nice but i would say that! I made them).

Would that be of some help?

Ismael, if I may suggest, since you have access to the Animal sphere, you should use the spell Animal Friendship to start out with a trained and useful animal companion.

I recommend a dog. A dog is very useful. Can be used to track by scent, guard while you sleep, and maybe even detect the invisible.

What do you think?

Cleric of the beer god with a pet dog?
You can name it Spuds McKenzie.

Can you get a dog to become an alcoholic? Would it be unfaithful for a cleric of Liquitus not to try?

I like the idea of having an animal companion! I'm going to have to consider the animal a bit, though. In all fairness, anyone in the group could have a dog! If I were to enchant something I'd make it a bit more interesting!
