"Well, there is this lake," Jocelyn offers. "So, does anyone know how to fish?"

"Not on the Bullring?" Gallath asks.

Baeros gets all jumpy and says, "Well, let's be quick about it and return to the camp." He tries to look at the vegetation to see if something is odd. If the trees look sick and try to listen to the jungle voices and note anything suspicious. Then he quickly continues surrounding the mansion.

Drav looks up at the mansion, "This place can't be that scary, can it?" Drav says to Baeros, "Then again, I have seen it more than most people."

Jocelyn, Ouragana, Val, Gallath (Campsite)
Thaddeus nods to Gallath. "That's right, I'll be leaving next year. It's why I wanted to come--I'm afraid my new job won't leave me any time to research old ruins and such. I certainly won't be going on any exciting adventures." He shrugs. "Although admittedly, after the troll fight, this whole thing hasn't been terribly exciting, either."

Baeros, Granite, Drav (Behind the mansion)
Baeros doesn't notice anything amiss about the local vegetation. Nature here seems quite 'in balance.' Indeed, this is one of the most pristine places he's ever visited.

The scouts make their way back to the camp, finding that the others have managed to get a big fire going. Val is sleeping, but the rest are up and talking. By now, the sky is beginning to dim as the sun starts its journey beyond the horizon.

"What will your new job be, Thaddeus? Or if you can't say that, where will it be?" Ouragana asks with interest.

Looking around, "Well, unless you have something I can do, I might as well do something for now."

*Look around for a large tree with branches*

"Mother has arranged for me to work as the navigator for an admiral of the Coral Knights of Immerfort," Thaddeus explains.

"An admiral?" asks Brock with surprise. "You're just a lad, still. The Nine Hells did your mum land you such a prestigious job?"

Thaddeus sighs. "She set up an arranged marriage between me and the admiral's daughter. Ilsa or...Elsa, I think. My father is a nobleman of Immerfort, and the admiral wants his daughter to marry up."

Drav searches around, meanwhile, and comes across a fairly tall tree with numerous branches.

"You don't sound too excited about the whole situation," Jocelyn comments.

(OOC: By "work on something, I meant sit in a tree and look around. Might as well check this place out some more.)

*Climb the tree and look for interesting things nearby/on the horizon*

"Oh" Ouragana says at the news of thaddeus's arranged marriage, and her face falls. Then she sums up her courage. "But... do you think it is right that someone else decides whom you marry? Don't you think that the choice should be yours? That you should be allowed to find someone you love?" Her voice is quavering, and she looks at Thaddeus pleadingly.

Drav climbs the tree and looks around at the horizon. Mountains hide the horizon from the north, south and west, so there isn't much to see there. He does have a good view of the mansion and of the lake, though.
Jocelyn wrote:"You don't sound too excited about the whole situation."
"I suppose I am rather nervous about it," Thaddeus admits. "I've never met the girl...or the admiral, for that matter. It's all a rather big change, but I guess mother knows best."
Ouragana wrote: "But... do you think it is right that someone else decides whom you marry? Don't you think that the choice should be yours? That you should be allowed to find someone you love?"
Thaddeus scratches the back of his neck, appearing awkward. "Well, yes, I suppose I did think those things. But mother says as a noble, I don't have that luxury. I have a duty to my family. And arranged marriages are pretty common, I'm told. Besides, mother was the one who got me the job on the Bullring and that turned out pretty well. She always has made the big decisions in my life. I would probably just screw up if I did my own thing." Despite these arguments, Thaddeus doesn't sound terribly convinced himself.

*Look for something to make a lot of rope, specifically for a fishing net.*

"Um," Jocelyn says with a shake of her head. "You do realize that you have managed to do the job you have now, on your own?" she asks. "The Bullring sisters seem to have pretty high respect for you, and you earned that all on your own. All your mother did was get you the job."

Gallath laughs, not unkindly. "Thaddeus, you are one of the more capable people I know! Follow your heart. I have lived for a while, and with the god's blessings will live far longer, but I have never seen anyone regret following their heart." He looks pointedly at Ouragana. "You know where your heart truly lies."
