The daergarsā€˜ plan hits Fikod like another bolt. With only moments to act and no time to explain he drops his crossbow and tackles Jerrard to the ground. "Git down!"

(not sure if I need to roll, but here is an init and an attack)

Taking the hint, Jerrard falls to the ground, a curious smile on his face. "Could you identify the leader?" He asks the dwarf, "I can make you invisible so you can sneak round and dispatch him."

Understanding what the Daergar planned to do, Fikod leaps into action--literally. Hurrying over to Jerrard, he tackles the mage to the ground, using his own body as a shield just as a barrage of bolts fly in that direction.

Fortunately, the Daergar seem to have rather poor aim, but at least four bolts that surely would have hit the mage, instead hit Fikod. The poor Hylar was looking something like a pincushion just before he lost consciousness, bleeding crimson all over Jerrard's white robes. Jerrard offers to turn the dwarf invisible, but only when Fikod does not respond does the mage realize he is dying.

Meanwhile, Babushka fires at the oncoming dwarf with the axe, catching him right in the throat. As he stumbles about, grasping for his own neck, she fires a second arrow into his chest, knocking him down to the ground.

Imani, scimitars at the ready, hurries north, avoiding the crossfire and placing herself closer to the dwarves to make her attack.

Locky flings another stone, but the rock flies too low and just falls into the depression instead.

Jeremy, meanwhile, fires at a female across the depression. The first arrow is too high, and hits the door of the building she is standing next to instead, thunking into the wood audibly. His second arrow is a bit lower, catching her in the shoulder, instead. But it's not enough to put her down.

(OOC: I decided that since Jerrard offered no resistance, the tackle attempt was automatic. I judged, based on how tall Jerrard is and how tall Fikod is, that using his body as a shield would offer cover to Jerrard of 5 AC points. I decided that meant any attack meant for Jerrard that would have normally hit, hit Fikod instead--except a 20, which would have hit Jerrard anyway.

Consequently, Fikod went down instead of Jerrard, taking 19 damage for the mage. Jerrard absolutely would have fallen otherwise. On the bright side, assuming Fikod survives this, the party can't possibly doubt his loyalty or courage!

"By the gods." Jerrard mutters, rolling the either brave or stupid Dwarf off him. "Locky, please." He says as he pulls the arrows from the Dwarf as carefully as he can, and stems the flow of blood.

"Babuskha, go and get Ulster and Thuskar, we need help. Watch those Dwarves, please?"

(Helps with Brelia being away too)

(OOC: Yeah, that was some weird luck. Most of the attacks missed, but the ones that did hit did quite well in damage.)

Locky stands a little shocked for a moment, this was not going well... "Oh no!" Moving to the Dwarf she casts cure light wounds. (Getting him back on 1hp)

Jerrard removes the bolts from Fikod and quickly bandages him up the best he can, while asking Babushka to go get help from the others. The gnome nods and runs off, disappearing into the brush.

Locky darts in next, laying hands on the dwarf and calling for Paladine's aid. The power flows through her, then him, restoring him to consciousness, but leaving his body battered and broken, and in quite a bit of pain.

However, just because Fikod went down doesn't mean the Daergar intend to give up on firing at the mage. Another volley of bolts come his way, with one whizzing right by his head. When he looks up, another one hits him in the chest, knocking him over and shattering the Armor spell that protected him. Just as he pulls himself up, a second one hits him, knocking him out of consciousness. It appears Locky has her work cut out for her this day.

Imani moves in, cutting down one Daergar with her scimitars. He screams out as he goes down, and the two nearby Daergar drop the crossbows and ready their axes.

Finally, Jeremy continues firing at his previous target. One arrow hits her in the thigh, the other misses. She still remains on her feet, though, a fighter to the very end.
