Ouragana takes out her bedroll and spreads it by the firepit, too. It would be nice to be able to stay longer, to learn the habits and language of this interesting people, but they seemed very reclusive. So Ouragana listens to the night sounds as she tries to fall asleep.

Val, without any bedroll, shrugs her pack on the ground close to the fire and lays down. She is use to roughing it. "No watch needed I think."

Dahn rolls out his bedoll, and uses his coat as a blanket.

Jocelyn didn't have the foresight to bring a blanket or bedroll, ironically enough, so she does her best to get comfortable on the ground and uses her backpack as a pillow. However, the party manages to get plenty of rest to compensate for any lack of comfort. As luck would have it, it doesn't rain and nothing disrupts their rest.

The next morning, the party awakens at sunrise and Jocelyn immediately begins praying for a new spell. About half of the Aarakocra have left the nest already, gone off on the daily hunt. However, the chieftainess and Koh'kra are still present.

It is quite cloudy today, as opposed to yesterday's clear skies. The clouds are dark and ominous. This, combined with the height of the mountains, means it's a bit cooler today than it was yesterday, around 75 degrees F (24 degrees C).

The party rests for nine hours without incident. It is now 6:00 AM.

Jocelyn memorizes Cure Light Wounds.

Wrapping up a little warmer (Ie putting her cloak around her body.) Arei rises with a smile, "So Grey, we go back and tell them what happened here?"

"Sounds good, but let me take care of something first, it'll take about an hour, if you don't feel like waiting, you can head out now and I could meet you at the tavern. Gotta have a moment of solitude." Dahn finds a safe place to prepare his spells out of sight (it helps him focus if no one's around); he prepares friends and audible glamer.

As Dahn prepares his spells, Koh'kra and the chieftainess approach the group. "You leave now?" she asks. "Can have Koh'kra lead you back. Also, have gift. Symbol of peace between Aarakocra and kek." She hands over a beautiful carved statuette of jade, cut to resemble a bird and flowers. Where the jade was darker, the artist carved the body of the bird, creating tail feathers of the progressively lighter green shades. The fine floral motif above the bird is a totally different, bright white, though in fact it is all the same stone.

It's clear that the carving is an antique. Ouragana recognizes from the craftsmanship that it surely dates back to pre-Eonian times, meaning it's hundreds of years old, at least. Likewise, it's quite valuable. Areilon estimates it being worth at least 1,300 gold pieces. That prize far outweighs the money Chester promised them for killing the Aarakocra.

(OOC: Just so you know, memorizing two 1st level spells would take 20 minutes, not an hour.)

Dahn memorizes Audible Glamer and Friends.
Jocelyn makes a Religion check (1d20): 19, fail. She notices no religious significance toward the carving.
Ouragana makes an Ancient History check (1d20): 7, pass. She realizes the carving dates back to pre-Eonian periods.
Arelion makes an Appraising check (1d20): [Secret roll]. She appraises the carving to be worth at least 1,300 gold pieces.

Val rises with the sun, glad to have uninterrupted sleep, and watches as the gift is exchanged.

"Where you find that?" crosses her lips.

Dahn heads back to meet up with the pary (if they haven't already left by then.)

"Air spirit give long ago," the chieftainess says to Val. "She guard and protect our tribe for many years."

"This is a very beautiful and very ancient thing" Ouragana tells the Aarakocra. "It is probably worth a lot more than all the animals you took from the kek. I really hope that the kek chieftains will be wise enough to accept it." She sighs. "I would like to know you better and to learn your language, do you think I could come back some day?"

"This is.." Arei stands stunned for a moment, "I believe the Kek will be most pleased to receive this, we can only tell them what you told us, and show that you are not violent." She says taking the Statue.

"Thank you for your kindness, and listening to us." She bows, "May the Air Spirit forever fill your wings and allow you to fly." She says hoping it sounded a suitably good blessing.

(Making assumptions again, but as she would have to take it to value it, and no one else has stated they will...)

The chieftainess thinks on this for several moments before simply nodding to Ouragana. "Any you can return, if peaceful. Farewell," she says with a small bow.

==========

Areilon adds the statue to her backpack.

"Thank you." Arei bows in return. "Come, lets go back." She smiles.

Ouragana looks up at the sky. "Well, we haven't had breakfast, but I think it might be better to just eat some of our rations while walking."
