(OOC: Echo is half a foot taller than Brax and 48 pounds heavier than Brax. Any dresses that she might have would drown Brax. :p)

[OOC]Sorry for jumping back a step, but it's been nuts at work - three nights of overtime in a row.[/OOC]
LittleLuna wrote:"I don't think that the people will be absolutely happy if we say that we are big best friends with these Gnolls now. It's more probably that they get in panic if we give them a guest room wouldn't you agree me?" Vee says to Drake wondering where he had lost his mind....
Martin smiles at Vee and replies: "Oh, I think it would be a perfectly horrible idea to bring the gnolls back to Amon's home. But I suggested it for two reasons:
"A - Despite its comedic value, I abhor hypocricy. Our friend there said that these gnolls deserve to be treated like any other person, not as monsters. Yet he is not willing to even consider making them guests in his home. For all his lofty ideals, it seems that he has a practical side, perhaps even a cynical side, to him. One that he may not even realize exists. I would like to show it to him;
"Number two, if anyone in town has had dealings with the gnolls, and would rather see them dead or gone, what better way to flush them out of hiding than to parade the supposedly dead gnolls around town; and
"Fourthly, you must admit, it would be interesting, and perhaps even entertaining. to see what would happen in town, with gnolls as houseguests. I might even go so far as to skip a pub night to watch that.
"Stick with me, kid. You might learn a thing or two." Martin says, appearing a small crystal ball, apparently from nowhere, and setting it dancing across his hands as he strolls.

Searos grabs a hunk of bread, munching on it a bit, waves to everyone and heads back out the door heading down to the docks.

"I'd like to inform you about that since I've been a kid is a lot of time has passed. And I don't think that you know things I want to learn" Vee tolds Drake, very annoyed that the 'little one' thing isn't over yet...

Walking on with Geraldine she answers: "My story isn't so interesting... I lived across the azure sea, managed my training as a warrior and has some problems with my family about the idiot who was my boyfriend. Then I left home and now I'm here... what about you?"

Martin raises an eyebrow at Vee's reaction, and swaps the crystal in his hand for a small plush duck, to which he begins speaking. "I must have hit pretty close to the mark to get her riled up like that, huh, Ducky?"
Then he stows the duck and turns his eyes toward Vee. "Apologies. I meant no offense in calling you 'kid.' That's just the stage coming to the fore, as it were. Clearly you are no child. But do keep this in mind: starting a sentence with 'I don't think...' tells the world, well, it tells the world that you don't think. It limits your horizons.
"You may not want to learn how to pull a rabbit out of a hat, but what about pulling a knife out of thin air, eh?"

Vee turns around to Drake furious. "You may have recognise that I am thinking. And I'm sorry that my finesse in this language isn't as big as yours, but I have to admit that this is not the language in which I'm dreaming."

"Ah,for me there is no reason for me to get a knife out of air, cause I've three here..." She pulls out one of her daggers and starts to clean her fingernails with the blade. "With this knife I'm sure that it won't dissolve in air when 'Im going to kill somebody with..." she looks up, lifting an eybrow "do you want to check it?"

Indeed I do,” Martin says. He steps in close, well within striking range, should the woman decide to attack him, and accepts the dagger from her hand.
He turns the weapon this way and that, examining the blade closely, then the handle, then proceeds to weigh it in his hand, feeling its balance.
Once he is comfortable with the weapon, he says “Stand clear, please,” and reaches out a warding hand towards Vee, to move her out of the way, then proceeds to flourish the weapon with the flair of a stage fencer, moving it in broad strokes and slashes this way and that, stepping to and fro as he does, as if fighting an invisible opponent.
This is a good weapon,” he says, once he has finished his little routine. “Weight’s a bit light for my taste, and the balance is off by about half an inch towards the point, but all it all a serviceable weapon, I should think. Definitely worth keeping.
I carry this one,” he says, reaching back and drawing his own dagger. It’s fancy, with a hilt wrapped in alternating bands of red and black suede, like a barber-surgeon’s pole. The crossguard is bronze, molded in the shape of a grinning jester’s head, and the pommel is a crescent moon, also with a grinning face. The blade is long and double-edged.

He dances his blade around in his hand and says: "Apart from being longer, it’s quite similar to yours. You see how their blades…wait. Where did it go?

Vee’s blade is no longer in his hand

Vee is very surprised when Drake steals her dagger, she'd think about check it in way of killing him... at least as a menace, but either he doesen't want to understand it or the translating was wrong.... she hate languages!

Seeing him dancing arund with her dagger she laughs: "My master always said that fighting without a opponent is like chewing without something to eat... you look like an idiot and it had no use at all!" But when her dagger disappears her head turns red and before she can stop herself she gives him a slap in the face. "give. it. back."

(ooc: im my opinion it isn't necesarry to roll for a slap but breila has another opinion... )

Martin bobs like a pugilist, avoiding Vee's hand, and shuffles backwards, out of range. He's still flashing his own knife, but not in a particularly threatening manner. "Classic blunder, Miss Vee. You've just brought an open hand to a knife fight. Not as bad, perhaps, as bringing a knife to a crossbow fight, but bad enough," his tone is dark, like an arch-villain, but then he smiles radiantly and says cheerfully: "Of course you can have it back, but in the meantime, perhaps one of your other knives would serve, if they haven't also 'dissolved into thin air'?
"Oops. Look at that."

Vee closes her eyes, taking a deeeeep breath trying to calm down. Opening her eyes she drills him trough with an fire-burning-I-will-kill-you-look.

"Lesson seven...always have-" she says groping her left arm "-a weapon left" suddenly she takes another dagger out of her sleeve.
The hand in which she holds her dagger gets pale, cause she holds it very firmly, hoping he couldn't let it dissolve it out of her hand. She points at drakes neck. "In the moment I really like to kill you, but I'm sure we can stop this without blood... if you give me my daggers back, we leave this place both on our own feet. If not...well I'm a warrior and you...ähm... ah... whatever you are, you aren't a fighter. So give my daggers back and we can stay friends, ok?"

What are Lessons One through Six, I wonder?” Martin says, smiling broadly.

After Vee raises her weapon, he continues, saying: “Bravo! Start with what might be construed as a threat, then turn it into a negotiation, then finish with: ‘…we leave this place both on our feet.’ Brilliant!

In just one sentence you have put on a show of force and exercised restraint and offered terms and demonstrated an awareness of your own mortality and limitations by admitting the possibility that I might possibly be better with a blade than you are. Well played!

Of course you may have your weapons back. But I do hope my point has come across - that the world is not always what it seems, and you need to be careful about what you rely upon. And I am glad to hear, Miss Vee, that we can stay friends. For that means we were friends in the first place. Friends are important, and you are the first friend I have made in this town.

Martin reaches around with his left hand and retrieves Vee’s knives one at a time and tosses each one to her gently. He’s pleased to have broken the ice and started a new friendship with the young woman, but at this point he doesn’t want to get too close, lest she try to be sneaky and lunge at him whilst he is returning her knives: “ah-one...a-two-hoo…a-three. Three. And if you ever want me to show you how I did that, all you need to do is admit to me that there are things I know that you want to learn.

"thanks. I'm learning my vocab." Vee says.

By accepting her daggers she carefully tests them. "Ok, that are my daggers.." Vee mutters to herself. To Drake she says shrugging her shoulders: "Never trust anyone. Particularly not somebody strange and I think that you are strange, wouldn't you agree me? But don't worry, I'm strange too." Vee smiles, as fast her fury has come it passed. "this was lesson for, by the way"

"maybe I'll come back to your offer sometime, but for the moment I'm to glad to have my daggers back that I don't want to make some experiments with them. And If you search friends I have a great tip for you: argue with everyone you meet. There is no better test to find out how nice people are then arguing, it has only one problem: many people don't like you..." She grins.

"Ah, I think I had to hurry If I don't want to miss my walk with Geraldine, neither she nor the Gnolls are waiting for me, so I say bye"

If Drake don't say something really important, Vee turns and jogs quickly the way to Geraldine

‘Never trust anyone.’ Good advice, but, sadly, unneccessary, for in time you may learn that I, too, am all too familiar with the reasons why people distrust the world. As for strangeness, ‘I am mad but north-north-west. When the wind is southerly I know a hawk from a handsaw.

I have a theory about people, which runs similar to your suggestion about arguing. A person can be smart, but people, people, are as incapable of thought as a box of rocks, and are usually only as nice as they remember to be at any given moment. People need to be shaken up from time to time, to make their thoughts rise up, like bubbles in sparkling wine. Arguing with them is one way to do that, but I prefer confusing them. It's more fun, and if they do get angry, it's their own fault.” Martin puts away his knife and gathers up his gear, resetting his enormous hat on his head.

But let us catch up to Miss Geraldine, for I think I might like to make her think a bit now.” That said, he begins jogging alongside Vee, jingling as he goes.
