Jim will retrieve his dart from what presumably is a now a pile of bones at the base of the column and with a slight smile at Sue's decision making process, turns to the west and heads forth. "Keep the light up please, it helps when I am at the further reaches of it"

Shouldnt we search to see if there are other warnings hidden in the dark before proceding? The candlelight hasnt shone everywhere...

Re: Chapter 2 - Getting to the bottom of it?
Catching Nix's words as he was about to head out, Jim replies "that would be wise, I shall only scout out a short distance and report back" So saying, he turns to head out while pulling a torch from his pack. Passing by Alecia he presents the torch to her with a small stiff bow from the waist. "My Lady, please, so as not to wax your gloves."

"I agree, we should let fate decide." Alecia agrees, catching Sues comment before nodding to Nix. "I will check each one, something to make a torch would be useful, I sadly unlike you all cannot see in the dark." With that the Priestess raises her candle, trying not to let wax fall on her gloved hands as she surveys each column, noting what she sees as he does so.

Jim's dart is fine. The skeleton has lost a rib.
As Alecia starts to peer at a column Jim heads out to the west.

Nox shadows Alecia, keeping an eye out for danger

Sue strains to listen down the west after Jim.
Also while waiting Sue will concentrate to use his divine sense, if time allows.
Perception(Wis)(2): [1d20+2] = 17+2 = 19
Saved all my good rolls for perception.

Re: Chapter 2 - Getting to the bottom of it?
Jim gives a torch to Alecia who hands it to Nix.
Alecia circles the SE pillar studying it high and low and then moves to the southernmost of the eastern pair of pillars.
Meanwhile Nix tries to light the more illuminating torch* from her candle. It just picks up a small flame and which grows rapidly as Nix nurses it to become fully alight.
Moving out of the candle light Jim's darkvision kicks in again. After pausing to acclimatize, he moves off to explore to the west.
Sue follows, similarly acclimatizing, and then stops at the top of the western stairs. While waiting he concentrates on heis hearing and just catches a very faint, "Neek!, Neeek!" from the west.
Woody moves to follow Sue but is plunges into darkness as soon as he steps out of the candlelight. Advancing 10' slowly by feeling along the SW wall Woody's darkvision kicks in again when he moves fully into the stairwell. it will takes some sencons for his eyes to adjust. (Sue is 5' in front of him).
Jim moves 20' into the corridor which he he's extending for at least another 60'. All goes quiet. Every 10' a pair large, heavy oval mirrors hang opposite each other on the N & S walls. Jim counts 16 mirror so far; (he is stood between the 2nd pair.) A seemingly infinite set of reflections stare back at him form both directions. He sees something small and still lying on the floor just in front of the seventh southern mirror.
======
*Candle costs 1cp, lasts 1h, 5' bright & 5' dim light. Negligible weight but gust of wind extinguishes and can be messy.
*Torch costs 1cp, lasts 1h, 20' bright & 20' dim light. 1lb weight but resistant to extinguishing by wind. Can be used as a weapon. Not messy.
I've compounded two rounds here.

Re: Chapter 2 - Getting to the bottom of it?
Sue watches the pillar inspections, but keeps an ear on what Jim is doing.
Re: Chapter 2 - Getting to the bottom of it?
Sue doesn't hear anything untoward as Jim explores further up the corridor. The watchman sees Alecia, guarded by Nix, work her way round the three pillars, completing those to the NE & N. Nix holds the lit torch allowing Alecia to put away her extinguished candle and start to map the oddly shaped room as she proceeds. Sue's Darkvision slips back into normal vision.
Woody keeps his back to the room and retains his Darkvision to watch Jim proceed in 10' increments up the corridor. After another 30' (so 50' in all) Jim returns.

Re: Chapter 2 - Getting to the bottom of it?
Sue will continue to watch and listen. It's like he was trained for this bit!
Re: Chapter 2 - Getting to the bottom of it?
Alecia continues to search the columns, noting anything of interest on the map as she does so.
