Re: CH. 17: Poison Curse
Val says, "Ummm, ok, I feel weird hanging around then"
Re: CH. 17: Poison Curse
Ouragana gets increasingly nervous as the pirate speaks to Bearos. She shifts on her feet, and hopes the pirates see that as newbie nervousness, too.
There's more to me than meets the eye...
Re: CH. 17: Poison Curse
"I understand, Val. It will probably take the rest of my spells today to get us back towards full health and I'm loath to set out with few spells. That's what I did the other morning when we set out on our rescue. Then we had little voice. But we do now. So I'd feel much much better, better equipped if you prefer, if we CN set out tomorrow morning when I've pretty much got a full complement of spells," Naras responds. "Is that ok?"
After their discussion, the dwarf adds, "And now I need to pray to be granted some more spells."
She prays for CLW x2, CMW x2 and Magical Vestments.
If granted, Naras tries CMW x2 on Val and CLW x2 on herself.
She eats and drinks the food from the undine at appropriate times. If merfolk turn up, she asks if Silverfrond might know of the air genasai.

Jocelyn and Gallath (Poison Curse, Captain's Cabin/Sardonx 16th, 8:30 AM)
Gallath slips inside and closes the door behind him. He immediately sees Jocelyn, looking surprised. From her perspective, the locked door just opened and then closed again on its own.
Jocelyn is no longer dressed in her priestly vestments, but now looks more like she'd fit in with the rest of the crew. She is wearing a bandanna, leather pants and a low cut blouse instead.
Ouragana, Baeros and Drav (Poison Curse, Upper deck/Sardonx 16th, 8:30 AM)
The crew awaits for the Poison Curse to get close enough to the merchant vessel to board. It takes a good ten minutes, and it would have been much longer if the merchant ship had not first been crippled and was trying to flee.
Once they are close enough, the sailors on the merchant ship begin shooting bows. Only a handful of arrows hit, including one killing a sailor standing right next to Ouragana. It isn't near enough to thin their numbers significantly, though.
Finally, they pull up alongside the ship and drop the boarding planks. "Charge!" one cries as they begin to swarm forward and meet the defenders head on.
Val and Naras (Undine Community/Sardonx 16th, 9:30 AM)
Naras spends another 90 minutes praying while Val sits and waits with little else to do. Finally, she finishes and uses more healing spells on the pair. The two are now mostly healed up again.
Afterward, Silverfrond returns. "My daughter said you wished to speak with me again?" she asks. After listening to Naras request, it becomes clear Silverfrond has no idea what an 'air genasi' is. "We have nothing like that down here, obviously. Creatures of air do not thrive underwater."

Re: CH. 17: Poison Curse
Jocelyn looks surprised upon not seeing anyone enter, but then again she does know that one of her people was suppose to enter. At this point, she is thinking that it is one of her people. "Uh, I don't know who you are," she says. "But there is a desk drawer that is locked that might hold what evidence we need," she explains. "I checked the rest of this cabinet, but I didn't find anything. I hope you have more luck."
Re: CH. 17: Poison Curse
When the sailor next to her falls, Ouragana cheks if he is dead before bringing up the rear of the enter group. She will focus on self-defense or defense of fallen pirates whenever possible (unless ordered to attack by a senior pirate).

Re: CH. 17: Poison Curse
"Thanks, dear friend. It would have been remiss of me not to ask, just in case you had accumulated such knowledge," responds Naras.
"I have done my best to sort out things with your family. I think Serenna still distrusts anyone from the lands above though. That aside, it is wonderful to see you again, but I would that it had been under better circumstances. We plan to leave tomorrow. I am unsure as to how we will get back to the island where my temple is, and how I would find your home here thereafter to visit with you."
After listening to any response, Naras asks, "If it's not too sensitive, what happened to your other half, your chidren's father?"

Re: CH. 17: Poison Curse
Baeros will join the attack and try to find the other ship captain to avoid bloodshed as he told before.
Re: CH. 17: Poison Curse
Jocelyn and Gallath (Poison Curse, Captain's Cabin/Sardonx 16th, 8:30 AM)
Jocelyn waits, but no response comes forth from whoever is inside the room with her. Or maybe she was just imagining things? Did someone invisible really come in? If so, they don't seem to be saying anything.
(OOC: Waiting on Gallath here.)
Ouragana, Baeros and Drav (Poison Curse, Upper deck/Sardonx 16th, 8:30 AM)
Ouragana kneels down to check on the fallen pirate, and discovers he died instantly as the arrow pierced his heart. While she stays behind, the others rush forward across the boarding plank to fight the sailors on the merchant ship. There's no organization at all, and soon it's a free-for-all. Steel gleams in the sunlight, blood splatters, and people on both sides scream in agony or battlelust. Although the defenders are not numerous or well armed, it's clear they are fighting to the death rather than be captured to be sold to slavers. They want to take out as many pirates as they can.
Baeros does spot the captain right away--or who he assumes is the captain. She is a human woman calling out orders to the others, armed with a cutlass. She stands up on the aftcastle and a dozen sailors stand between her and the ranger. The two nearest ones, both human, lunge out at him with their cutlasses. "Die, pirate!" yells out one.
(OOC: Actions for Round 1?)
Val and Naras (Undine Community/Sardonx 16th, 9:30 AM)
Silverfrond frowns sadly at the memory. "The two are connected, actually. My mate was killed in a raid by surfacers, using magic to breathe and move underwater. They took most of our valuables, kidnapped several of our people, and killed a number who tried to protect the rest of us. This is why Serenna is so untrusting of surfacers. She has never forgiven them for what happened to her father."

Re: CH. 17: Poison Curse
(That's odd, I posted...) Gallath moves over to the desk, working on the lock. "It's Gallath." he calls softly. "Is there anything else suspicious in the room? Check for trapdoors while I work on this lock."

Re: CH. 17: Poison Curse
"Oh my Great Gonto!" exclaims Naras. "That explains so much. Thank you for telling me; I'm sorry if I caused you pain in the retelling." She tries to comfort her friend with a hug and a pat. "Two things come to mind - is there any possibility of recovering your kidnapped people? How long ago was it? Do you know anything of the kidnappers? Or can anything be Divined?" she pauses for a breath. "Secondly, it might be possible over time, to use the example of my companion and I, to introduce to her that not all surfacers are inherently evil."
Naras lets the conversation trail off, thinking that the Chieftainess will have so many other things to attend to, some big, some small, but thankful to have spent some time with her, before finally adding, "It might be nice to visit at some point in the future, but I would not know how to find this place. Indeed, I don't actually know how to find my island from here. Would you have any thoughts or insight, please? Or even how many Water Breathing spells we might need to get home?"

Re: CH. 17: Poison Curse
Jocelyn makes sure the door to the cabin is closed, and starts looking for trapped doors. "I'm probably not going to be of much help here," she says. "I don't even know what I'm looking for right now."
Re: CH. 17: Poison Curse
Ouragana looks to see if any of the pirates is wounded and ready to retreat, and will help them back on the Poison Curse if that is so. She will not engage in battle unless ordered to.

Re: CH. 17: Poison Curse
Baeros defends himself while trying to knock out the sailors with his attacks.
==================================================================
(OOC: Baeros will try to avoid killing them if possible but rather knock them out. If they prove too dangerous he will change the strategy and fight normally.)
