Jerry listens to Mira's song and then hums along barely audibly.

Merrick, Jerry and Mira stick to the middle of the group with the horses and small-folk; leaving Adran and Pytor to bring up the rear. The gypsy man keeps a wary eye on the forest, as does the warlike wizard, who keeps his bow ready as they walk.

Thick brush and rocky ground choke the land like a smothering blanket. The path winds back and forth in the uneven way of a game trail; though the ranger’s lead helps the group keep a steady move on. The horses plod along at the same rate as the rest of the group; the thick and twisty path through the forest an obvious impediment to any faster pace. Gradually the trail becomes more hilly, dipping into various natural depressions and small rises as they near the foothills.

The day passes arduously; a short stop to rest the horses and take some food the only real interruption. As the sun wanes, the pleasant sounds of nature soon give way to darker thoughts as the sky becomes overcast. Plants seem to reach out or twitch unnaturally in the wind. Sounds off the trail take on a decidedly more sinister bent, where each rustle or break or animal call could hide unknowable terrors.

Just before dark, a cool wind picks up from the direction of the hills. Nature exhales a chill breath at the close of day, rustling the dried branches and long-dead leaves of a nearly bygone winter; much like the last rattle of a dying man. Adrastia chooses a small space near the trail as the light begins to fade, checking with Artanis’ opinion. Once he agrees, she helps Elsa down. We should be safe as we can be here. There is some shelter from the wind and enough room for us and the horses… We should set a watch. She makes the barest hint of a glance in Artanis’ direction. Perhaps no one should watch alone…

How does the group want to set watch?
We have:
Adrastia, Adran, Artanis, Elsa, Jerry, Merrick, Mira, Pyros and Pytor

"Agreed, we watch in pairs." Releasing the crossbow that hung on her back she lays it on the ground beside her. "Everyone should be with someone who can see in the dark. But.. Jerry Merrick, take last watch, I'll take second with Elsa, you two. She points to the siblings, perhaps you should take first watch? Like me you can't see in the dark, and if we get attacked, i'd like you either there or have a little rest."

"You can see better in the dark. Would you mind talking third?" She asks turning her attention to Cross and the ever eager Pyros.

She soesn't mind but Jerry checks with Merrick by a questioning tilt of her head.
If he's ok with last watch then she answers, "Fine, Mira."

Artanis speaks up, I will watch with the gypsies. At least one of us will be able to see in the dark. But we may need more than three watches if we are all to get a full night's rest.

Jerry pipes up, "Would it help to try overlapping watches? Then people wouldn't have the same level of tiredness.." She trails off, not quite sure how it helps but it seemed like a great idea at the time.

"That should be enough, 4 watches. And our warriors get a long hopefully uninterrupted sleep." Mira agrees after a few moments thought, "That should make each watch 2 hrs each."

[Adran and Cross, being full elves, might be able to take 2 watches, since the reverie is only 4 hrs]

"Sure. So, Mira, do you still want us on last?" Jerry says whilst glancing at Merrick.

"That would be good. Cross, Adran, would you mind pulling a 'double shift' ? I recall full elves don't sleep all that much and we'd appreciate the help." Mira suggests.

-----------------------
Ok I was thinking: What does everyone else think?

1st Adrastia, Pytor and Artanis
2nd Elsa, Mira
3rd Pyros, Cross and Adran
4th Cross and Adran
5th Jerry, Merrick
