Haahqae grins. "All the better. The more difficult the task is, the more sure it is that we'll complete it."

"That's the spirit eh!" Gregeddin chimes. "A legend to be painted amongst the stars..." A hand trails above his head as the sentence ends.

"So! Most informative slig, our time to part has arrived. We are to remove all trespassers from our Noble's mine and now you can prove your devotion to your prophet Sekla. Take up thine blade, and with a zealous passion known only to the most loyal and pure believers, cleanse yourself of this mortal realm, begin the eternal journey for which your destiny is written and walk your noble path!"

To the group Gregeddin whispers, "If this doesn't work, will someone shoot him"

With one hand remaining on his walking stick, Darga reaches into his cloak and wraps his other hand around the shiv he's hidden there. He looks at Gregeddin in alarm, but he doesn't move to stop the man. "Ya better know what yer doin'," he mutters.

The slig looks up at Gregeddin with utter confusion. "Err, what?" he asks, lost by the bard's flowery speech.

Gregeddin glowers over the pit, "Look buddy" his tone flat, "Your life stops in two minutes. I was suggesting you might want to choose your own end and top yourself. Otherwise we choose how to do it, and then your death may not be so dignified."

"Consider it a mercy kill this way," Kendra says as she takes aim at the slig with her bow. "Otherwise, you'll starve to death in that pit because I don't see you climbing out of it."

Certain that Kendra would finish the Slig, Haahqae loses interest in the conversation and turns his eye to the corpses still outside the pit. "Hmm, I wonder if any of these goblins kept some important keys on their bodies. Or maybe some dark and ancient magics. Nah, they're part of some new cult or something, seems unlikely but I better check anyways."

(Haahqae searches the bodies)

Haahqae searches the two slig corpses that aren't in the pit, discovering that the first one has a spear, a coin pouch (6 platinum pieces and 6 steel pieces), and a small iron box containing 5 wax candles. The other slig holds a spear, a coin pouch (8 platinum pieces and 7 steel pieces), an empty waterskin and a small bag of dried fruit.

Meanwhile, when Kendra takes aim with her bow, the slig's eyes widen as he comes to understand what is happening. He takes aim and throws his spear right at her. The spear strikes her right in the gut, causing her to double over in pain. Had she not been wearing armor, it likely would have skewered her completely. As luck has it, the armor stops it from going in too deep.

The slig is now unarmed, but he starts to move to grab the spear of his fallen companion.

==========

Slig throws his spear at Kendra who is in studded leather armor (-1) (1d20-1): 15, hit for (1d6): 4 damage.

Kendra grunts in pain as the spear hits her, but she still manages to fire her arrows at the slig.

"Move away from the pit," Coroccoco warns. "He can't reach us otherwise." She and Kynaston move away from the pit.

The slig picks up his deceased companion's spear, ready to throw it, as well. Kendra fires two arrows at him. Both simply bounce off the creature's extraordinarily tough hide.

Bear, likewise, fires two arrows at him. His arrows actually manage to pierce the slig's hide, and cause it considerable pain. However, neither is enough to kill it.

Gregeddin throws himself away from the pit ledge at the advice of Coroccoco.
He experiences a little dizziness from the rapid movement and the realisation that the slig's spear could well have killed him.

The only intelligible thought he can manifest is to blurt out "Haahqae, can you make a one way mirror?" Hoping his ally might put a magical lid on the pit to make it harder for a spear to hit another person.

Kendra steps away from the pit, but fires two more arrows at the slig. "These things don't die easily," she mutters.

"I can make a one way portal to the abyss for this one." Haahqae replies, loosing an arrow at the enemy that remains.

Haahqae is the first to act, quickly nocking an arrow and letting it loose at the slig before it can grab the second spear. The arrow pierces the creature's throat, killing it instantly.

Kendra points her bow away once the slig is dead and looks down at where the spear hit her. "That could have been a lot worse."
