Oh, lots of ways, but it's not really in character for Haahqae to make such decisions.

1. Scouting better -> rogues infront with stealth + dark vision to see the enemy before they see us, also get sneak attacks off.
2. Front line/Back line mechanics: why let them attack our mages and ranged characters if we can set up a defensive line forcing AoO's to run past, or to attack high AC high HP targets.
3. Grease could be used very effectively, especially with a bottleneck (such as the hallway) and unsuspecting foes. But again, Haahqae isn't really willing to cast magic that other people will see.
4. Have everyone there. 2 extra turns of Kynaston attacking could have broken the kobolds that much faster and maybe prevented a wound or 2.

But Haahqae only might know most of these things.

Actually acting on turn one, probably.

I thought running over to the other people with light was a good idea, so all the infra vision people wouldn't be blinded by me.
However, leaving Haahqae unprotected probably wan't the smartest option. About half way through the fight I thought I had left everyone on the Western side in real trouble.
Likewise, probably could have got stuck in quicker.

I'd agree with you all. Maintaining a front-line is very important, especially when fighting numerous opponents. Scouting ahead, as well.

Something else I'd bring up when dungeon-crawling is making sure each room is secure before moving on. When the party first entered that room, some of you were already trying to move on to the next path before the kobolds announced their presence. It was a big room with lots of places to hide. Even if the kobolds had not had the courtesy to warn you they were hiding there, it would have been a good idea to make sure the place was safe before moving on, else you risked being ambushed from behind later.

Anyway, I'm glad you all recognize there were better tactics. (My other group just kind of insists there's no point in even discussing the topic whenever I ask what they could have done better.)

Just a small comment.

Even securing each room doesn't ensure our (or your in the current state) backs are safe. Especially in dungeons, where corridors might loop more than once. So it is good to keep one capable fighter at the back too. It is also possible to barricade or trap back enterances but then you might block your way when you wanna flee.
BTW, fleeing, as much as hurting your ego, sometimes is the best tactics. Live to fight another day.

Other things to considerate. When enemy is unwounded, concentrate attacks on the biggest enemy force, would that be a high rank creature, the fastest one on a concentration of creatures. That might help the party members under that force attack, and once hit would lower weaker enemy moral. When some of the enemy are wounded, if they don't flee, kill them first to reduce required guard positions. If they do flee, sometime you should let them and help wound creatures attacking your friends.

And one last thing... Many times it is good to have a captive. But I'm not sure it holds with kobolds. Obviously with DEMONS it is very dangerous :)

So I made a mistake. Horizon stated that Kendra 'allows' Darga and I somehow misread that to 'follows' instead. So she shouldn't have revealed the party's presence with her lantern light; that was my bad. So I added a +1 to everyone's hit and damage rolls this round to make up for it. Sorry.

Yeah I noticed that and it seemed a bit strange to me, but Kendra didn't say anything, and I figured she knew what she meant best.

Apparently she didn't notice it herself until long after the fact.

Yeah, I didn't notice it for two days because I was playing another game, and I didn't check the forums. I pointed it out to him when I did notice though.

Haahqae probably isn't wise enough to figure this out on his own, but perhaps someone could be careful about the pit. It's 20ft deep, and I'm just guessing that sligs are at least 6ft, so if they got up on each other's shoulders that makes 12ft + 3ft arm length = 15ft. Getting pretty close to getting out. One of them has a spear that he might be able to poke out at us, and if either of them is pretty good at climbing we should be careful.

Probably a good point.

Anyone who wants to shoot at the ones trapped in the pit gets a +1 to hit due to having the higher ground.
