CH. 5: The Sending is Coming from Inside the House

Ouragana frowns. "That sounds like a very dangerous idea, Areilon. What if it works, and the killer goes after you? We might not be able to reach you in time. If we were going to use such a reckless plan, wouldn't it be better to use Val as the bait then? She's by far the most capable warrior among us."

"Besides, we don't have enough information to set up such a complicated scheme. We don't know what the killer looks like, what kind of women he is drawn to--or for that matter, that he's a man at all. Or human, dwarven, gnomish, or something else entirely."

The waiter comes over and considers Jocelyn's question. "Well, I suppose...the waterfall? That's where I used to take my dates, before the Wardens put the curfew in effect. It's to the west of here, past the playground.

[Jenara]

"I was doing what I saw a Storm Mage doing once, he called it brain storming, thinking out loud and suggesting ideas, even if it seems stupid." Starting on her rice she nods at the suggestion. "That is a good idea. Somewhere you might expect lovers to meet. I would be interested to see if the murders continue, regardless of the curfew."

[JadedDM]

Ouragana frowns. "I'd rather we stop him before he murders again than wait and see if he continues to kill," she admits. "So after lunch, what should we do then? Check out the waterfall?"

[Jenara]

"Yes after lunch." Arei agrees, "And you misunderstand me, will it stop? If it doesn't.. they are smarter than we think."

[HorizonsDream]

"The waterfall might have some clues," Jocelyn says. "But it is a waterfall, so some of the clues could have been washed away," she points out. She waves the waiter over again. "Sorry," she says with a small smile. "Who is the most desired bachelor in town?" she asks.

"I would like to think it's me," the waiter responds with a grin. "But in truth, I have no idea. I suppose Hubert Diamondeyes, the local jeweler, is fairly popular. Although it's difficult to say how many of his 'conquests' are real and how much he is just exaggerating."

[HorizonsDream]

Jocelyn chuckles lightly at the waiter mostly for his little joke. "Okay, let me rephrase," she says. "Are there any desirable, rich bachelors?"

[Jenara]

"Because He's exaggerating." Arei comments with a sly smile.

[JadedDM]

"Rich? Oh, well that does leave me out," the waiter admits. "In that case...no, other than Hubert, I can't think of anyone," he admits. "I know of some rich men, but they aren't really desirable or available. And I know of some popular guys, but they aren't very wealthy."

[Jenara]

"Of course, enough money could make some men desirable, regardless of looks or availability." Arei suggests, "To some women of course." She adds quickly. "I'll take looks and personality any day."

[HorizonsDream]

"Who are the popular guys that you know of?" Jocelyn asks. "Other than yourself, of course," she adds.

[JadedDM]

The waiter gives Jocelyn a list of a handful of names of popular men he knows of.

"So then, what is our next step?" asks Ouragana.

[HorizonsDream]

"I guess the waterfall is the next step," Jocelyn said. "If that doesn't work out, then I guess we start questioning some of these guys."

[Jenara]

"Sounds good to me." Arei agrees, finishing her food.

[Nuke]

Val eats in silence, listening half-heartedly to the prattle. She tags along none the less.
