@Tristen - Is the "gauze over the eyes" thing euivalant to "averting one's gaze"? And does NWP Blindfighting help?
[ooc] it's a solid cloth, not what i would call 'gauze' which, at least to me, implies somewhat see-through. they are blindfolding themselves so it would be blind-fighting.
i put the details for averting somewhere, but i don't see it now so i'll add it to the OOC thread shortly. [/ooc]

"Well, I could do Dancing Lights: they look like jostling lanterns, or Darkness: which is obvious and about ten yards across. Or I could try to put some arrows in its, what did you call it? Bung hole?" offers Linar. "I'll support whatever plan you think is best."

As an aside to Bullock, the drow quietly offers, "If you want to compare spell books some time, I'd be good wth that."

I am better at close up fighting but can throw these darts like a bolt of lightning. Always wanted to learn the bow but couldn't ever find one big enough. Super Composite Tree Bow. Shoots through Platemail and Shields. Any plan we come up with is good with me.

He grins at Linar:

I would be interested in the spell swap. More spells we can find the better off we will be.

"Sounds good, big fellow. Hmm I might be abe to help out with that. The previous fellow,.." Linar gestures 'horns' with his fingers to indicate another minotaur, ".. put down some coin to get big composite bow* started. I lent him some coin for it too, but it was while ago. Anyway, we can check on that next time we go near the place." He offers his hand to Bullock, with a jest, "No squashing me now.." delivered with a smile to show the same.

The drow looks back to the rest of the party, Katten in particular, for any decisions or opinions on what they're going to use as their plan.

"Potions and other magical things one would presume. No teas though." Is the response to Linars inquiry

Contributing to the discussion of abilities one might bring to bear he adds "I could provide a distraction.. Chitt has a couple of doubles rattling around in him. That's how I got Nocturno out of the beetle's grasp the other day. I can enchant pebbles and throw them to hurt things.. and heal. I thought a locate animal spell might be useful but that won't work on a basilisk. Like I mentioned earlier, I don't know much about basilisks, how do they turn you to stone? I gather we have to see it ... but does it need to see us to turn us to stone? Rather than blinding ourselves would blinding the creature work?"
"If we survive this Linar, maybe you could point me in the direction of somewhere I can get a bow or something like that. I don't think I'm very useful in a stabby stabby kinda fight. Maybe one built to my size?"

Linar nods, acknowledging that 'no tea' is a shame. "I've heard of a pretification spell, 'Flesh to Stone', I think, but it probably works differently. I have less knowledge of this creature, Basil-isk, than you folks, so I can't really advise with any cetainty.. Rumour is that it requires eye to eye contact under lit conditions, but whether using infravision can cause petrification is unclear. The testing of such things would have obvious potentiel consequences." He breathes in.. and out.. and tries to pull back and relax his intensity.

"Bow? Yes, of course. Would anyone tell me in a couple of sentences what happened while I was away from your group?"

Looks at Linar.

What happened to the last Mino? Did he leave the group for something or die a horribly gruesome death? I would be more than happy to reimburse you for the coins borrowed for the bow. I am pretty good with my darts but the range is limited.

Bull laughs as he pulls his hand away.

Hmmm. What about a darkness spell dropped on the Basilisk? If we can't see it then it can't hurt us. Then just go in and flood it with missile fire to killing. We would be firing in the blind but we know it is in there some where. Does anyone have one?

"Nothing sinister. Just family business* called him away," answers Linar honestly. "For any coins, I don't actually remember any details so we can forget about that. But I'll happily show you when our journeying takes us nearby." He pauses, clearly pondering, "Of course, if some time later you have an excess of coin I could happliy help you spend it. Spell books can be quite expensive, you know." He leaves that hanging for a moment and then moves on, "I can cast Darkness. If the creature resists it the spell remains imobile and the creature could move out of its effect."

It can't resist it if we sneak up on it and cast it on an arrow and stick it with it.

"Cast it on an arrow and you can't see to aim it. If the arrow's already stuck in the creature I think the spell works as if the arrow is part of the creature's possessions. In other words it can resist the spell," expounds Linar.

"I could cast the spell on something that you can hold, or can put in a pocket, or otherwise have completely covered. It would go dark when you get the thing out. Like a Light spell. Only the opposite, 'no-light'," expands Linar. "The Darkness lasts for something over ten minutes."

"If your spell works like that. You could cast it on my blade. Then when I draw it, it will enclose the melee with darkness."

"It would be on the whole weapon," says Linar, perplexed at it not being clear to everyone. "The blade is part of the weapon and so is the grip. Like your foot is part of you. Whatever it is cast on, the totality of it must be concealed or it's as if none of it is. Like a stone in your pocket or in your hand. Maybe we're making this too complicated." He looks towards Katten who has a way of making things direct.
