Artanis, Cal, Pyros and Yasir: Down by the Riverside
The men approach the moat, which has become quite ripe in the warming day. The headgate of the moat bordering the river is being tended by two guards. They are collecting some kind of sludge from the edge of the moat in buckets, and spreading it on iron spikes across the gate itself. The gate, designed to let water into the moat, is fully open, but no liquid seems to be flushing the moat out. The stagnant liquid has attracted numerous biting insects… A guard on the wall near the West gate calls out to them as they approach. He seems to be waiting for them to respond…


Cross, Elsa and Mira: The Jail
The young man looks a little surprised and perplexed at both her behavior and questions. He quickly gets over it, but remains standing. Of course. he says, moving to hold her chair out too late. He nods at the other two new arrivals. Damage? What damage? Slowly it dawns on him what she must mean. Oh, that. Just the festival. People get a little too far into their drink and go about starting trouble or smashing things… it usually only happens here on the West Edge, but it typically only amounts to bruises and minor property damage. It happens every week, sometimes worse, sometimes less. He watches her with a hint of wonder, as if he were surprised to see her, particularly here. May I ask you something? I don’t want to seem impertinent, but… What are you doing here? I wouldn’t think that idle curiosity would be… well… he blushes a bit and trails off. Elsa gives a start, and speaks quietly to Mira in common; He thinks maybe you came to see him! The Halfling shakes her head incredulously.

[Jenara]

"Thank you. You're wondering what a famous Bard is doing in your office.. ? Why I'm here.. Look I'm new here, I don't know your City, your customs.." Blushing deeply she realises what Elsa was saying.

"Frankly I dont know enough about this part of Harmonia. We were going somewhere and I forgot the time. But now I know your little office is here, I'll remember it. I'm guessing you've seen me play? I hope you'll be there tonight?"

"We are bringing in our supper!" Pyros will say in Elven.

"We went fishing for lunch!" in Harmonian.

Cross, Elsa and Mira: The Jail
The guard nods along as Mira explains, and eagerly answers her questions. Yes, lady bard. Both Bakki and I have seen you a couple of times, but he wasn’t able to attend the festival last time you played. I was there, though. My name is Devon, by the way. I’m sorry, it was rude of me not to say that earlier. You did quite well when I heard you. We both drop in at the Wayfarer when we can but… I regret we are both on duty tonight… His face grows more and more reddish as he continues. Again he re-asserts control over his demeanor. Perhaps the next time. He says, diplomatically. Though it is clear the conversation has hit a dead end, he seems content to watch her indefinately rather than send her away…


Artanis, Cal, Pyros and Yasir: Down by the Riverside
The Kender immediately appoints himself the spokesperson of the group, and calls back in Elven. He then takes a stab at Harmonian, but bungles it so badly even he is certain it was only gibberish. He cannot be sure, but it appears the guard above is the same one that let them out earlier. A few moments later the clink of chains and groan of wood accompany the lowering of the drawbridge. The small door in the larger gate opens and the guard waves them on. Just inside two more guards stand ready, making note of their return.

"Well I hope you'll catch me again soon Devon." Giving a smile she moves to stand "I appreciate the compliment." Leaving the jail she shakes her head walking in silence.

"Ok, that was strange.." She comments after a while, heading to towards the gate.

Cal holds up the fish, making his point clear.

"Thank you sirs!" Pyros will go up to the guards and try to shake their hands.

Artanis, Cal, Pyros and Yasir: West Gate
Cal presents his catch to the guards, leaving no doubt as to the nature of their excursion. Two of them seem unimpressed, but the younger one quirks a small smile at them and shakes Pyros’ hand. The sheep pens on this part of town are all empty at this time of day, but the smell of livestock lingers. The group hears a faint call over the moderate wind. Mira, Cross and Elsa are just now coming up to the fence bordering the pens to the south.

Mira thanks Devon for the compliment and Elsa bids him goodbye in Harmonian, one of the few words she has been able to pick up. The trio make their way back out into the street and continue northward. Strange how? Or you just mean the guard knowing you and all that? The small group walks the last two blocks to the sheep pens, which are all empty at this time of day; heavy with the lingering smell of livestock. The Halfling is the first to spot the others standing near the West gate. Hey! Over here! She calls over the wind. Any luck fishing?

"I caught a big one!" Cal says, running over to show her.

"Yes, I'm not used to being a Celebrity..." Mira responds and heads over to the gate a curious look on her face, "Looks like they had fun." she comments to Cross before seeing Yasir, her smile broadens. Rushing over she kisses his cheek and takes his hand. "Had fun?" she whispers.

The ranger give Cal and Pyros a big pat on the back. "They did quite well. Cal landed his but alas the one Pyros and I hooked gave us the slip. It was nearly as big as Pyros too!"

"He isn't even telling a fishing tale!"
