Baeros takes the lead, heading to their right. After a few steps, he hears and feels a panel on the floor under the rug sink a bit when he steps on it. A moment later, the two nearest statues begin to move. The armor simply moves off the stands, but there is nobody in them. Just an eerie red glow that seems to pulsate from within the armor itself. One is carrying a military fork while the other has a scimitar and buckler.

"In...TRU...sus," they both intone in a strange, metallic voice. "LO...qui COD...ice."

Gallath steps up one square and fires an arrow right at the neck of the first armor (#1) "Watch out!" he says. "I doubt that blades will hurt, try to crush or smash them." "If you only have a sword, try to detach a limb.

"Thaddeus." Dahn says, waiting for the man to acknowledge him before continuing.
"Come with me to examine these other statues." Having heard Thaddeus' response, Dahn locates him from the sound of his voice, grabs him, and leads him to the statues to the west.
"It will keep us out of the way, and out of danger; and I assume you'd be the one who can tell if they'd also animate, and how to prevent that from happening."

"Ouragana! Jocelyn! Take cover behind me!" Baeros waits for the armor in front of him to get within reach and then attacks with both swords shouting "Disassemble! You freakish pile of metal!".

"What? Really? Me?" Thaddeus asks, clearly flattered by Granite's assumption that only he could figure the magical constructs out. "Very well then." He lets the gnome take him by the hand and the two head toward the west, near the next nearest statue.

Brock moves toward the nearest statue and with a battle cry, slashes at it with his axe. However, aside from leaving an ugly scrape across the armor's chest plate, it has little effect.

Gallath moves away from the others and takes careful aim with his bow. He shoots over Brock's head, the arrow hitting the helmet and knocking it clean off! The helmet, which holds no head, rolls across the carpet and hits the wall on the other side of the hall.

The second armor begins moving long before Ouragana can finish her spell. "COD...ice DE...fici...ENT," it drones and moves toward Val, slashing at her with it scimitar, drawing blood.

Despite it now being headless, the first armor does not fall or even seem terribly put off by its missing head. Baeros moves forward and attacks with both of his blades. He manages to sever its right leg off, but the armor does not topple. Indeed, it doesn't seem to actually be walking, but rather levitating slightly off the ground. Thus its legs are completely unnecessary for movement or standing.

"DES...tru...ERE in...TRU...sus," the headless, legless armor says mechanically. Oddly, it's voice comes out of the helmet across the hall. In any case, it can see just fine, apparently, because without any difficult it stabs its fork at Baeros, catching him in the left shoulder.

Ouragana finishes her spell and throws up webbing that completely blocks off the eastern hallway and the stairway back down, but does trap the second armor entirely. It struggles in vain in its bonds, unable to break free.

Finally, Jocelyn finishes her prayer and everyone in the party feels a boost of energy thanks to Octhanus' blessings.

Animated Armor 02 moves 40 feet southwest and slashes its scimitar at Val in chain mail (-2 to hit) (1d20-2): 12-2 = 10, hit for (1d8): 6 damage. Val is now moderately wounded.
Baeros moves 5 feet north and slashes with his long sword with great strength (+1 to hit) at Animated Armor 01 (1d20+1): 18+1 = 19, hit for (1d8+1): 7+1 = 8 damage. He then stabs with his short sword with great strength (+1) at Animated Armor 01 (1d20+1): 9+1 = 10, miss.
Animated Armor 01 stabs with its military fork with great skill (+1 to hit) at Baeros in studded leather (-1 to hit) (1d20): 6, hit for (1d8+1): 7+1 = 8 damage. Baeros is now moderately wounded.
Ouragana casts Web in the eastern hallway. This lasts for 80 rounds.
----Animated Armor 02 saves vs. spell [16] (1d20-2): 6-2 = 4, fail. Animated Armor 02 is stuck and cannot move or act.
Jocelyn casts Prayer on the party. Everyone in the party receives +1 to attack, damage and saving throws. Both animated armors receive -1 to attack, damage and saving throws. This lasts for 5 rounds.

Jocelyn pulls out her sling, and fires a stone at the armor. "Careful everyone," she says as she watches Baeros take a hit.

Gallath curses. "Aim for the arms, so they can't attack us!" He aims for the arm holding the pitchfork on #1 and fires an arrow.

Baeros being injured on his left shoulder, quickly turns on his right heel and slashes with both swords again. "I've the feeling that even without weapons, the red glow can make damage."

Having no distance weapon, Ouragana can't really join the fight. She watches the helmet and tries to decide if she risks triggering the other suits of armor if she goes near it.

OOC: Where exactly is the helmet? Against the Southern wall, or all the way to the West?

After taking a look at the rest of the group to see how they are doing, Dahn begins helping Thaddeus investigate the statues.
He doesn't know if he can be of any help, but he figures he may as well try.
"Well, let's see what we can see, shall we? We shall." Dahn says in an an attempt to remain lighthearted in lieu of the nearby danger.
