CH. 9: Road to Tu'Valie

Jocelyn looks to Areilon for a moment with a frown, mostly from her poor judgement of the situation. "Get the damn bug off him, and kill it," she says as she moves to his side and begins praying to Octhanus to heal him as much as possible. "Oura, deal with the bugs that are still up and moving. We can deal with the ones that are asleep later!"

Ouragana continues to kill the bugs that are asleep. Knowing she has the poorest combat skills of all, she sees no chance for herself to kill or hurt any of the living ones, without becoming a casualty herself.

"No.." Arei stutters, dropping her blade she grabd the creature and pulls it off the fallen warrior, intending to squash it against the ground.

Baeros stabs again, this time killing the bug and removing it from Thunder. Ouragana moves over to the next sleeping bug and slays it, and Val kills her own opponent. Takit, rather hungry these days, then eats another sleeping bug.

Areilon removes the bug from Andar, but it then quickly latches onto her instead. Jocelyn then prays to Octhanus to save Andar, reviving him. But he's deathly pale and very weak, only just barely conscious.

Ouragana moves 5 feet southeast and performs a coup de gras on Bug 03 with her dagger. Bug 03 dies.
Val attacks Bug 13 with her dagger (1d20): 17, hit for (1d4): 4 damage. Bug 13 dies.
Areilon makes a STR check [10] to remove Bug 01 from Andar (1d20): 2, pass. Areilon removes the bug from Andar.
Bug 01 attacks Areilon with its long proboscis (1d20): 15, hit for (1d3): 2 damage.
Bug 13 is dead.
Takit performs a coup de gras on Bug 04 by eating it. Bug 04 dies.
Bug 15 is dead.
Jocelyn casts Cure Light Wounds on Andar, automatically restoring him to 1 HP.

Seeing that Areilon and Jocelyn, both better fighters than her, are closer to the remaining live bug, Ouragna proceeds to those held in the web, and kills the one she can reach most easily.

"Val, help Areilon!" Jocelyn calls out as she tries to help Andar up. "The rest of us need to get out of here, so grab your stuff off Thunder."

"Will do." Val responds as she move to hack at the last bug.

Jocelyn helps Andar get to his feet--he's a heavy guy, all those muscles.

Areilon stabs at the bug latched to her with her stiletto, but she finds it difficult to find a good angle to stab at, and thus misses the bug entirely. She cries out as the insect drains more of her precious elven blood from her veins, leaving her looking paler than normal.

Ouragana moves up to the webbing, but it's way too thick for her to reach any of the bugs with her dagger. Even at its thinnest points, the webbing is still five feet thick.

Val hurries over to Areilon, dagger at the ready. She plunges it down at the insect, but it moves aside at the last second, causing the half-orc to accidentally stab Areilon instead! She cries out again in pain.

Baeros moves in on the other side of Areilon and tries to stab at the bug twice. The first time he misses, although thankfully doesn't hit Areilon. The second time he manages a small cut on the insect; but it's not a fatal blow.

Ouragana moves 25 feet north toward the webbing. It is too thick for her to reach any bugs.
Val moves 20 feet northwest and attacks Bug 01 with her dagger (1d20): 5, miss. Chance to hit Areilon by accident (1d20): 15, hit for (1d4): 4 damage. Areilon is now critically wounded.
Baeros moves 40 feet northwest and attacks Bug 01 with his dagger with great strength (+1) (1d20+1): 9, bare miss. Chance for Baeros to hit Areilon by accident (1d20+1): 2, miss. Baeros attacks Bug 01 with his secondary dagger with great strength (+1) (1d20+1): 20, hit for (1d4+1): 2 damage.

"Pull the thing off before you try to stab it," Jocelyn says as she slowly tries to get Andar out of the way of danger.

Satisfied that the rest of the bugs will stay stuck long enough for them to get away, Ouragana returns to the group.

Before the bug can siphon out any more of Areilon's blood, Val skewers it with her dagger, ending its life.

"We are safe from the bugs trapped in the web for quite a while" Ouragana declares as she rejoins the group. "But we don't know how many there are still out there. From the signs we saw on people and animals, still quite a lot." She sounds worried.
