Chapter 2 - Getting to the bottom of it?

A 5e D&D campaign starting at 1st level in and around the city of Waterdeep in the Forgotten Realms.

Waterdeep: City of Splendours, seat of many thousand plots. Are they opportunities for success, or for an untimely demise?

That would put Jim against the west wall, 5ft south of the door, so essentially in the south west corner of the room

Sue will be on the opposite side of the table from the door being fired.

Everyone starts to take their favoured positions, Darren heading to the southeast corner of the room, as two heaving masses of spiders [#2, #3] charge out of the webbing, eerily silent, and then and swarm all over Darren [#2] and head for Jim [#3] just as the door to the south closes with a faint "Clunk." The swarms are composed of many spiders each the size of a clenched fist.

Jim can act before spiders [#3] swarm all over him and if he remains is his current position he can use his reaction to attack the swarm [#2] moving past him en route to Darren.
Sue can act before spiders reach him.
Woody releases his committed fire bolt which ignites the webbing "Whoof!" and four swarms of spiders [#4, #5, #6, #1] are immolated.
[Woody: roll four d6 and choose any two of them as the fire damage automatically inflicted on each of these four swarms.]

The four smouldering spider swarms emerge and head towards each of the adventurers but are not able to attack yet.

Remaining Round #1 actions for Jim and Sue, please.

Sue sighs a heavy sigh. Rolls his eyes and starts smashing spiders with his hammer.

Warhammer - [1d20+7] = 15+7 = 22 [1d20+7] = 12+7 = 19 [1d8+4] = 7+4 = 11 [1d8+4] = 3+4 = 7

These hits don't need the +1 but we can add +1 to the damages if that what the hammer is doing.

Round 1

The swarms are composed of many spiders each the size of a clenched fist. Jim's honed reflexes let him flatten some of those heading for Darren [#2, 10 crush] and squish and stomp his own swarm [#3, 10 crush, miss, 11 crush] before they try to bite him. [Jim: AC18, 7 pierce]

Sue sighs a heavy sigh, rolls his eyes and starts smashing spiders with his hammer [12 crush, 8 crush] just as Woody releases his committed fire bolt which ignites the webbing "Whoof!" and four swarms of spiders [#4, #5, #6, #1] are immolated. [5 fire damage each.] Darren, still covered in spiders [#2], steps into the middle of the room and holds a spell. The four smouldering spider swarms emerge, triggering Darren's prepared Word of Radiance which has no apparent effect on the swarms. They climb and cling all over the adventuers, attacking, but ineffectually.

Sue will start smashing spiders as the crawl around on him to parts where he won't be hurting himself if he slightly misses.

Woody will target the ones on his square with a Firebolt.

Attack: [1d20+7] = 17+7 = 24
disdavantage: [1d20+7] = 19+7 = 26
Damage: [2d10] = 11

Woody is covered in (a swarm of) spiders (that occupy his space).
They move with him.
Thus any ranged attacks made by Woody (such as a crossbow or Firebolt that require a to hit roll) will be at disadvantage. This does not apply to melee attacks or spells with a maximum range of 5' or any spells that require just a saving throw. The swarm is represented by a single pool of HP. The swarm can be attacked as if it were a single creature.

Now that there are 2 swarms on him, Jim will concentrate on smashing the foes clinging to him with even more vigor.
To Hit: [1d20+9] = 12+9 = 21 , Mace Damage: [1d6+6] = 1+6 = 7
To Hit: [1d20+9] = 13+9 = 22 , Mace Damage: [1d6+6] = 6+6 = 12
He will use 1 ki point to use flurry of blows. If it hits he manipulates the swarms ki to impose a Strength saving throw (DC14) on the swarm. If it fails, Jim can push it up to 15 feet away from him
To Hit: [1d20+8] = 6+8 = 14 , Unarmed Damage: [1d6+5] = 3+5 = 8

Round 2
Jim call on his ki and sets about one of the clumps of spiders swarrming him, crushing many [#1: 7, 12 & 8 crush and a miss] before hurling the diminished mass against the far wall. They hit the wall and skitter around next to Sue. "This place bugs me!" grunts the paladin as he squishes more of his own spider swarm [#4: 11, 6 slash]

As two swarms [#2, #3] fail to significantly affect Darren and Jim, Woody takes careful aim and his Fire Bolt vaporises a goodly potion of his own spider collection. [#5: 11 fire damage]

A scant second later Darren utters a divine word, and burning radiance erupts from him which sizzles and pops spiders from all of the swarms apart from those sheltered behind Woody. [#2, #3, #4, #6 & #1 all take 5 radiant damage] Two of the swarms [#1, #3] are defeated and their remaining fist-sized spiders run for cover.

The swarms on Jim, [#3] Sue [#4] and Darren [#2, #6] continue to climb, cling and attack but are ineffectual. Those sheltering on Woody's back show more mettle, possibly causing the wizard some pain. [#5, AC19, 7 pierce damage]

Actions for Round #3, please.
