"She was in the cart, well she was the last time I looked." She replies pulling on Preasul's rein for a moment to pause his movements. "Do you know this place?" she adds, glancing at the cart over her shoulder.

Angel looks back to the wagon, and doesn't see Salia at all. Fighting sudden panic, she looks around the area and catches sight of the girl walking near the mules.

"Yes. I know it. It's safe. Viatori use it sometimes.
"There was a badger burrow in the first chamber on the left, and birds in the roof, but other than that it's deserted.

Rubbing her eyes a moment Angel glances back, then back to the Ranger. "Have you ever felt that way about anyone else here? like they were ... gone for but a moment?"

Shaking her head she glances back at the girl, what was going on? There were days on this trip she felt like the old legionares she met in training.. the stress of job? Did stress really account for those nights she spent screaming?

Pulling herself back to the present she nods, are they particually large or mean badgers?" She enquires her expression unchanged.

At Angel's first question, Maughus cocks his head and gives a knowing smirk, but does not answer. He doesn't wink, exactly, but that's probably because he doesn't have to.

At her second question he says: "Large, no. But have you ever meet a badger that wasn't mean? Badger can dig through three feet of earth in a minute. One of us?" he snaps his fingers, grins and walks off.

"As long as we are clear on that." Angel grins, motioning to Fraso, "We both where we are on this.." Shaking her head in both amusement and confusion.

"Indeed, the last thing we need is to be surprised by a Badger." motioning to the group she pulls them together, "Maughus tells me this place is safe, but we have a small animal problem.." Rubbing her forehead she ponders a moment. "We need to warn them off.. We take watches in twos, same as our groups for marching, but Liri is with me. Egg and Bastian you take first watch, Galanis and Calah next.. Liri and I will take last watch."

"Bah. Badgers is no problem. Don't bother him and he won't bother you.
"Unless he's hungry."

Galanis keeps his post at the side of the wagon as it slowly enters the villa court yard. The squealing wheels only adding to the tune he plays in his head. As Angel lists the watches he comes close to her and say, "Hmm.. maybe you forgot, and I wouldn't like to burden on you already. I told you I practice the craft. For that, I need continuous sleep, so I rather have the first watch or last one if that's possible."

Angel curses under her breath, her back to Galanis. "Of course, my mistake. You and Calah take first, swap with Egg and Bastian."

"Lets get ourselves set up."

"Fair enough," Calah says. She then does her part helping to set up camp without much more commentary, and then settles into the shadow of a tree or other obstruction to take her turn at watch.

The villa is surrounded by a low wall, with a garden between. The garden has grown quite out of control. Grape vines have taken over one whole corner of the compound, but being past the season, the vines are bare of fruit.

The main house has fallen mostly to ruin. Only half of if is still roofed, and the atrium pool has turned into a tiny marsh, complete with plants and frogs. Water coming in through the wrecked roof has pooled in some areas. That, combined with the accumulated droppings of birds and bats, has given the interior of the house a foul odor. Given the condition of the main house, the yard between the house and the outer wall seems more hospitable.

A ring of soot-blackened stones in the yard suggests that others have come to that conclusion in the past as well.

Calah finds a spot near the well, where an ornamental tree has fallen that gives her a view of the gate and the house, and settles in, while Egg and Salia begin preparing dinner.

Galanis looks at the yard and the ruined house. After he ties the horse to a bush he tells Angel, "I will make a small patrol at the ruins and behind to prevent surprises later." and so he does.

Galanis' patrol is brief and pleasantly boring. The most interesting thing he finds is a symbol drawn in soot on one of the wall piers.
It is not any sort of rune or magical symbol he is familiar with, and does not appear to have been rendered as carefully as a mage would have done for such a thing.
It could be one or two letters in a foreign alphabet - perhaps something as mundane as someone's initials in graffiti.

Galanis wonders if he should mention the symbols to the company, but once he gets close he forgets all about it and feels the urge the resume his conversation with Bastian regarding the symbol he wears.

(OOC: If Ismael-Legacy won't turn online, don't hold up the story. I could retro-converse the subject later.)

Pausing Angel watches Salia for a short while, what had happened to her? Was it the proximity to Fraso? Cursing under her breath she wished she were smarter.

Leading Preasul to a suitable location she ties the stallion to a stake, "Watch them, please." She whispers softly to the horse as she collects her gear. Moving towards Salia she flips her limp hair back. "May I ask what's for dinner?" She asks the girl.
