The dwarf says to the three, "One moment, please. I need to explain to Val; she's alarmed by the sudden stop."
Switching to Common Naras tells Val, "We were just chatting and I mentioned the name of an old friend of mine; a mermaid that I helped years ago. Turns out that she's their chieftainess."
Naras tells the three how she'd found and helped the mermaids in her adolescent years but that she'd had no idea about her status."

Jocelyn, Ouragana, Baeros, Gallath and Drav (Quarter Deck, Bullring)
"Even so, it's a fair point and one I hadn't considered," Sierra admits. "I can trust myself and my officers without a doubt. But we have over a hundred sailors and marines on board, and we're always letting some go and taking on new replacements. I can't say we can trust all of them."

Terra adds, "And it's not like we can just use the cannon on low power from now on and hope nobody catches on. We just blew up a mountain top, and most of the crew witnessed it. Word will spread, no matter what we do."

Val and Naras (Under the Sea)
The three listen to Naras' story. "Amazing," Cye says. "Mother had never mentioned this before."

"Perhaps it was fate then that your ship passed by when it did," Shin adds.

"Then, that means that I'm going to need help on how to settle this peacefully," Jocelyn says. "I managed to narrow it down to getting help from someone on board the Poisoned Curse that was decent to me. Her name is Sable."

Ouragana agrees at once to giving the Bullring sisters the gemstones. She seems relieved that the cannon is not going to be used.

[OOC: Have Ouragana and Thaddeus studied the cannon enough so they know the enhancement magic and can use it for other spells or items? If not, Ouragana will ask for the cannon to remain aboard for some more time, but she will agree to get rid of it early enough before the next port.)

"What do you mean 'even that one understood'? Is it because I'm from Mond?" Baeros asks. And then, "Hold your horses! We have been through hell to get this cannon and now you just drop it? If someone will try to get it from you, you can just blow him off. I think going in pursue after staff and then throw it away is not the correct way to follow a plan."

Jocelyn, Ouragana, Baeros, Gallath and Drav (Quarter Deck, Bullring)
"Not at all," Sierra says to Baeros. "I've met intelligent people from Mond before." Turning away from the party, she says to Terra, "Go collect the gemstones." Then she says louder, to the crew, "Raise sails, set course to Draska! We're moving on!" Lowering her voice again, she tells Terra, "We can dump the weapon overboard when we're out to sea deep enough. If we wait until nightfall, we can probably do it without any of the crew seeing. They'll never know where to look for it."

Ouragana considers, and she's confident that using what she has learned from the cannon, she could research some metamagic spells that would improve the perimeters of other spells. She could them use those spells to improve magical items down the road, once she learns how to craft them.

Val and Naras (Under the Sea)
"Very well," Serenna says, taking the lead as they begin to swim forward again.

"Won't mother be surprised to see you once we rescue her," Cye notes.

"Let's not get ahead of ourselves," cautions Shin. "We need to actually get to her first, then get out with her safely."

"By the way," Cye mentions, "is your, uh...friend...trustworthy? She looks pretty brutal," he asks Naras.

"I trust her. She had no reason to come with me to try and help you folks other than to help me. That's reason enough for me," replies Naras with a smile. "How long before we get there?"

Switching back to Common she updates Val, adding "We've going in now. I'm not sure what we'll face, but the ray-creatures seem really unwholesome."

{OOC: Having no armour whilst underwater, Naras needs to make the most of Magical Vestment and so wants to cast it at the last sensible moment}

Baeros opens his mouth to argue, "Amm.. B.." but Jocelyn look silences him and he only grunts. "As you wish."

Ouragana turns to the other mage. "Thaddeus, I think we have learnt everything we can from that cannon, don't you think so too? Let's put it on paper so we won't forget it." she walks to the study in the hope he will follow her and unlock it so they can work in comfort.

Jocelyn, Ouragana, Baeros, Gallath and Drav (Quarter Deck, Bullring/Sardonx 15th, 3 PM)
The Bullring sets sail again, heading toward the island of Draska. The rest of the day passes without incident, as does the day after that.

On the 14th, the ship passes by the island of Ketos where the Storm Sorcerer Academy resides. It's fairly close to the island of Draska. Should Ouragana wish to revisit it when this is over, she won't have far to go.

In the afternoon of the 15th, they finally arrive. Enott isn't a very large town, and so its harbor is not equipped for such a massive vessel as the Bullring. "We'll have to take the rowboats out instead," she explains. "That means we won't be able to send you any reinforcements. But then again, marching into a town like that with a big squadron of marines with you is probably asking for trouble."

"So who's going?" asks Terra. "And what about the woman in the hold? Should we drop her off here, as well?"

"I'll go with you lot, if you don't mind," Naishe volunteers to the party. "Enott looks like an interesting place, so it's bound to be more fun than being left here. Besides, I could use some shoreleave."

"Wherever the pastor goes, I go, too," Brock announces.

Val and Naras (Under the Sea/Sardonx 12th, 12 PM)
"That's good," Cye replies. "She doesn't look like the sort you'd want to be enemies with."

"Hopefully we will arrive within an hour," Serenna replies.

Jocelyn looks out over the railing towards her hometown, and visibly pales. "Uh, well, I am obviously," she says. Gallath, it is up to you what happens to Penta."

(OOC: Has the cannon been removed from the Bullring?)

As they were approaching Draska, Ouragana had taken her spare clothes out of her backpack and put her spellbook and the book labelled "spells" in. Thus equipped, she stands on deck as they approach the port. "I will come as well" she announced. "It'll be nice to have land under my feet again."
Her plan is to use at least some of her mending spells to help people and regain her spell slots, and do some shopping for spell components, especially for her new-won spells.

"To be honest, Cye, I've never actually seen her fight, but I think she's good at it," returns Naras. "Ummm hope you don't mind me asking, but I was wondering if there's any truth in the tale that your people can sortof change shape and get some legs and walk around on land, at least for some limited period of time? If it's too personal or a secret or something, just tell me to mind my own business; I'm completely fine with that."

The dwarf just nods to Serenna in acknowledgement and then passes on the information to Val.

She then settles in for the ride, partly in enjoyment - both for the ride itself and also the odd scraps of information and experience - and partly in payer - for Silverfrond's safety, to be able to rescue her and guidance and assistance to be able to do so and finally that all of the these things are, to whatever extent, within Gonto's Will.
