Re: CH. 8: Proving Worth
"You don't?" Kendra asks, glancing over to Krup. "Then how were you guys created if there are no females? I guess that also explains why all of you are have a thing for human females."
Re: CH. 8: Proving Worth
"No no, no need to put someone else in danger when I'm perfectly capable of moving unseen myself. After all, it's mostly my request that got us on this quest in the first place." Haahqae decides, the idea of sending Ismene forward and using up all her spells before combat breaks out not appealing to Haahqae. She's competent yes, after all she's a gnome, but Haahqae sort of trusts himself most for finding dangers and moving around unseen.
Haahqae will open the door and carefully proceed forward, making sure to keep a special look out for traps and guards. (Hide, move silently, find trap, detect unsafe walls)
(Also -> the duration of "detect magic" is "concentration" up to a maximum of 2 minutes, is it possible for Haahqae to cast detect magic and use it to help him search for traps, while still hiding/moving silently? If it is, he'd like to cast it as soon as he gets out of sight of the rest of the party)

Re: CH. 8: Proving Worth
Stand ready, everyone. Grubnick says quietly.
Re: CH. 8: Proving Worth
Haahqae, Arulia, Gobax, Felran and Ne-Chanz (Deserted Building)
With some reluctance, Gregeddin unlocks the door, then steps away, allowing Haahqae to approach. The gnome opens the door, revealing a small and dark room, and steps inside. Fortunately, he can see just fine in the dark, so this does little to hinder him.
It appears to be just a simple storage room. There are some boxes, barrels and sacks of foodstuffs, mostly. Across the way is another door. Searching the room, Haahqae decides that there are no traps here, nor are the walls unsafe.
=============
Haahqae checks the room for traps [TN 25%] (1d100): 17, pass. He finds no traps in the room.
Haahqae checks for unsafe walls, ceiling and floors [TN 07] (1d10): 3, pass. The walls, ceiling and floors appear safe to him.
(OOC: The duration for Detect Magic is 2 rounds per level, so 4 rounds for Haahqae. He can concentrate to look for magical auras at any time during that duration. He can move stealthily and remain hidden while concentrating, although actually casting the spell requires him to speak verbally and move his hands for the semantic component.)[/color]
Kendra Greylock (Haven's Vale)
"State secret," Krup answers with a shrug. "Classified. No, really. Even we have no idea. All they tell us is that the Dragon Queen made us. That's good enough for us."
"What we know about females we've gleaned from watching humans," Grev adds. "If there was such a thing as a female Baaz...not even sure what that would look like."
"They would probably not have breasts," Slinn speculates. "Probably...lay eggs, maybe?"
"Sounds like they'd be a disappointment then," Tern adds with a grin.

Re: CH. 8: Proving Worth
"The room looks safe" Haahqae calls back to the others, not too loudly, but none too quietly either. After he's confident they've heard, he proceeds to the door to investigate it. He's mostly looking to see if there are any traps, and if it is locked.

Re: CH. 8: Proving Worth
Grubnick enters and looks around. do we have a way to detect the magically invisible?
Re: CH. 8: Proving Worth
"I got one scroll of detect magic on me, but only one and this room looks pretty harmless to me," Haahqae comments ""I'd rather use it in a dangerous room where I'll find the magical traps."

"And human females aren't a disappointment?" Kendra asks Tern. "I would think we all look frail compared to you guys."

Haahqae, Arulia, Gobax, Felran and Ne-Chanz (Deserted Building)
Haahqae approaches the next door and looks it over carefully. It does not appear to be locked, nor trapped.

Haahqae searches the next door for traps [TN 25%] (1d100): 72, fail. He finds no traps.
Kendra Greylock (Haven's Vale)
"Disappointment compared to what?" asks Slinn. "We have nothing to compare them to. Human women are all we know."
Perp suddenly stops in his tracks and crouches low. The others do the same. "Rock cropping up ahead," he says softly. "I think I hear voices."
"Go and scout," Krup orders. "Return and report back, but don't engage."

Re: CH. 8: Proving Worth
Kendra follows their lead and crouches low. If the elves were really there, she wasn't really sure how she could warn them about this attack!

Perp quietly moves forward, crouching low. The others wait in tense silence for his report.
After a few minutes he returns. "There's a camp down there. Three tents," he reports. "Looks like the remains of something big and hairy, too."
"Elves?" asks Krup.
Perp shrugs. "Nobody around. Might be, though."
Krup looks at each member of the party. "What do you all think?"
"It's gotta be the elves. Who else'd be out here?" asks Slinn.
"Even if they've abandoned it, there might be clues as to where they are now," points out Tern.

Re: CH. 8: Proving Worth
Grubnick whispers back to the others for them to wait in the room just a moment, before following Haahque in. Stepping off to the side of the room and out of view of the door he casts find traps as quietly and unobtrusively as he can. He then scans the door and the floor leading up to it

Re: CH. 8: Proving Worth
"I suggest we check it out," Kendra says. ~Though, I am pretty sure that this could easily be a trap. Perp said that he heard voices.~
Re: CH. 8: Proving Worth
Haahqae quietly opens the door and peers though to the other side, if he doesn't see anybody, he'll proceed forwards, hidden and silent and alert.

Re: CH. 8: Proving Worth
Arulia nods at Gobax's request and stands at the ready, should the need for stealth give way to the need for combat.
(OOC: I apologize for being quiet lately. Holidays are busy enough, but being sick over the holidays really leaves little time and energy for posting. I'm finally feeling better, though, so I'll be around regularly again!)
