"Aye that bird was on about that earlier. Wonder what it'll say when it sees em " Gustas says as he looks about for the bird's cage.

"Prithee, stay, Radiance. Our new friend has endured his bracelets for quite a while, I expect he can endure them a bit longer, until our work is done here." Martin says. "And once we're done here, I shall make it up to him by treating him to a nice meal that doesn't come from a barrel."

On hearing Gustas' comment about the bird and the coins, Martin lets out a laugh that he quickly arrests."You're going to see what the parrot thinks? Truly?
"Sounds like the sort of thing I would suggest. But I'm game. Might I suggest that if anyone is going to interrogating that bird, it ought to be me. That way none of you look foolish."

The parrot sits quietly in its cage, head tucked under one wing, the visible eye is closed.

"Then you talk to the Parrott." Offering her hand she smiles at Oceanus. "I will escort our guest to the Cobweb."

"Gustas, I suggest you see what else you can find, somewhere there is a clue about these people."

If no one eelse has an issue she departs the ship.

Kulop goes near the parrot holding his box. "So birdy... do we need to assemble the pieces somehow?" and he lays the content on a table moving the pieces around to see if there is anything peculiar about them.

Woken up, the parrot screeches exitedly "pieces of eight! pieces of eight" and moves about in its cage, flexing its wings.

The content of the box is almost spiling over the table, there are many, many silver pieces. Kulop couldn't spread them all out. They look all the same, with the strange eight-like symbol. But the mintage is unfamiliar even to Martin. Also, the pieces are more variable in their appearance than what people are used to in these lands, the pieces are slightly irregular in shape and thickness, and the symbol is clearer on some pieces than on others. They all seem to have the same weight and thus value, however.

Brax and Oceanus can leave the ship without trouble. As they walk along the beach where the fishing boats are landed, he looks at the water longingly. "Could I dip into the water first? I've been out of water for far too long" he asks Brax.

"Why was someone collecting all these when they could have changed them to gold? Be a lot easier to carry round."

"Where is there left to look at around the ship?"

Kulop piles the coins, in different heights, "I wonder where did they come from. Maybe the prisoner knows..." he looks around only to notice he is not there anymore. "Oh well..." he put the pieces back in the box and stuff it to his pack. "Want to take the bird with us?" he asks Drake.

When Kulop puts on his pack to move on, he realises that Gustas has a point: His pack is so heavy now that he knows he'll not be able to walk or fight in it as well as usual. He should make sure he exchanges that wealth into something else.

The two side-by side cabins you've been exploring look very much the same, but one had that secret cabinet/prison cell behind a secret door. There are stairs leading into each of the rooms from above. That deck level hasn't been explored yet.

"Hmm... That's curious..." Kulop says, "It seems my box became larger... I remember it to fit my pack, and now... it big and heavy. What a wonder! Maybe it's me and the packs that are becoming smaller..." he smiles with wonder... "Wow, maybe in few years I'll be able to fit in keyhole or at the space beneath a door... That can be very useful!" he continues encouraged.

(OOC: I don't know why I assumed it is a very small box...)

"Fear not, K. Your pack will be lightened considerably before you reach the pier.
"Remember, this is an inventory, not a treasure hunt. And the key to an inventory is accuracy. We must accurately report the contents of this vessel to the local authorities, lest they suspect us of wrongdoing and thence make an effort to invalidate our claim to what has been recovered."
Martin beams his brightest grin at the Halfling, then furrows his brow and squints in the manner of Clint Eastwood. "You wouldn't want to be accused, or have any of us accused, of any wrongdoing now, would you?"
"Besides, we have a lot of ship left to search. We've done the hold, but not the aftcastle or the fo'c's'le, gak. Sorry, choked on an apostrophe. And then there's the bilges. Small guy like you'd be very very useful for investigating bilges."

At Oceanus' comment, Martin grins again. "Best you wait a bit longer, friend. At least until we get those manacles off you. You might get dragged to the bottom by the excess weight, and though you folk don't drown, it can't be much fun down there, all alone with nobody to talk to but the crabs.
"If it helps, we can pull up a bucket of seawater and douse you with it."

===================================================================

[OOC] Martin intends to politely, but determinedly, prevent Oceanus from leaving the ship. He's concerned that the elf's story might be made up and that he might be one of the bad guys. Letting him go for a swim would be tantamount to throwing Br'er Rabbit in the briar patch. [/OOC]

"Yes!" Kulop says excitedly, "Let's go explore the bilges. But why would you want to enlist my box in the inventory? It just fell from my pack. You all saw I had the key for it. How would I have the key if it wasn't my own?" he smiles, hoping that his friend will come to his senses.

Brax closes her eyes, focusing on her holy symbol she calls on Pelor softly. (Casts foresight, what would happen if she let the elf go? It will only give her a brief glimpse, but she trusts him.. More than she trusts Martin.)

"He is under my protection. Please do not forget that." Almost sneering a look or darkness crosses her eyes. "As for the box, it is evidence, it is in no ones possession."
