The bug latched to Val's leg starts to drain her blood from her body. She starts to feel woozy. Acting quickly, she takes out her dagger and tries to stab the creature. Unfortunately, she misses and accidentally hits her own leg, drawing more blood. The bug on her neck then also starts draining blood, leaving the half-orc a tad dizzy.

Andar attempts to reach and grab the bug on his back, but he has difficulty reaching back there. Areilon suddenly shouting his name distracts him, as well. "What?" he asks, turning toward her, not sure what she wants from him. The bug then starts draining his blood, slowly growing fatter (and redder), causing the sailor to feel rather light-headed.

Drawing Telsa, Areilon concentrates and focuses the tip of her sabre at the bug on Jocelyn's neck. She manages to nick it without hurting the cleric, but it remains alive and clamped on.

Thunder is drained by two of the bugs on him, and would be panicking, bucking or even running away at this point, but it's too weak now. It sways heavily, neighing with fear.

"Thunder, no!" Baeros cries. He draws two daggers and manages to strike one of the bugs once, then twice. It falls off the horse before it can draw any blood, dead as a doornail.

The two bugs on Jocelyn both start draining her blood, soon leaving the cleric swaying on her feet. Ouragana strikes at the bug on Jocelyn's leg, but only manages to slice into her robe instead (luckily, she didn't hit any flesh). Jocelyn manages to grab the bug on her neck with both hands and rip it off, tossing it aside. It quickly takes back to the air, not ready to finish feeding just yet.

This leaves Takit to square off with the last bug. He leaps at it with a bite attack, but the bug buzzes to the side, evading the dog's teeth entirely. It then latches onto Takit's back, causing the door to yelp with pain.

"Stop screaming his name!" Jocelyn yells at Areilon. "And if you are going to get these things off me, then don't hit me!" she added as she looked up to see that their own horse was in danger. With a frown, she runs from the protection of the group (which wasn't great protection), to use lay on hands upon Thunder.

"I hope these creatures have enough brains to be affected by this" Ouragana thinks to herself, but decides to use a sleep spell cast on the thick of the group (Andar, Areilon, Val the bugs latched to them and, if possible, the one looking for a new target).

Jocelyn hurries over to the dying horse and lays hands upon it. Instantly, most of its wounds heal, saving its life. However, the bug still on her drains more blood, causing her to feel very dizzy.

Seeing the pastor save his horse's life, Baeros grins in thanks. But the horse still has two bugs on it, so that healing won't last for long. He tries to stab one of the bugs, and manages to cut it some, but not kill it. These critters are tougher than they appear.

Val does likewise, injuring one of the bugs clasped to her, but not killing it as it and its partner drains more of her blood, leaving her feel about to pass out.

Takit starts leaping about, trying to reach his head around to bite at the bug on his back. He manages to bite it, but fails to kill it.

Andar manages to finally rip off his bug, but not before it drains more blood, as well. He sways heavily as he walks toward his falling cutlass to pick it up.

Ouragana chants and unleashes a slumber spell right in the center of the melee. Luckily, intelligence has nothing to do with the ability to sleep. The freeflying bug, the bug on Jocelyn, the bug on Takit, and the two bugs on Val all drop off, completely asleep, leaving large red welts where they had been feeding.

With the point of Telsa, Areilon then slays the bug that had been moments before, feeding on Jocelyn.

(OOC: The orange circle on the map shows the radius of Ouragana's spell. Blue bugs are sleeping. Thunder has two bugs still on him, and the one Andar just removed is also still a threat. Also, Jocelyn, Andar and Val are all critically wounded (25% HP or so).)

Carefully, taking her time so they don't wake up, Ouragana uses her magical dagger to sever the sleeping bugs' necks. "Get those potions out then, Arei, and after that help me to kill all the bugs that are sleeping or caught! Neither spell lasts forever!"
Hopefully, Takit will join them kiling the bugs.

Andar, rather dizzily, tries to make his way to Areilon to search her for potions, but she moves around a lot, and the entire forest keeps spinning for some reason. He cries out in pain as the bug he just removed sinks back into him as he tries to pick up his cutlass instead. Jocelyn tries to touch him with a cure spell, but in the chaos doesn't reach him in time, and the spell fizzles. Areilon, who had been watching the bug with intense concentration, lashes out at it--but only after it has landed on Andar again. She misses slightly, and winds up nearly running him through by mistake. He looks at her with an expression of shock, staggers, then drops to the ground, bleeding profusely.

Baeros and Val each pick a different bug on Thunder and attack. Baeros misses with his first stab, and accidentally nicks his horse. "Oops, sorry!" he calls, then attacks with his second dagger, this time doing some damage to the bug itself. Val does likewise; she accidentally misses when Thunder suddenly bucks, and stabs the horse by accident. It's not a fatal wound, but all of the damage the horse has suffered so far is too much. It suddenly collapses to the ground. "Thunder, no!" Baeros cries.

As this is all happening, Ouragana kills one of the sleeping bugs with her dagger while Takit makes a meal of the sleeping one that had tormented him earlier.
